Today, Lawman Guitars is Presenting...
A beautiful and excellent playing 1968 Fender Newporter… Beautiful Mahogany top, back and sides! Comes complete with the original Red Plush Soft Shell Case!
They made these cool guitars in Santa Ana California, as shown stamped on the inside brace.. They were produced from 1965 thru 1971. The serial number on the back plate doesn’t help determine the age. The Newporters were made with a stained top prior to 1968 and in 1968 they used a three ply pickguard. We are calling it a 1968 but it could be as old as 1971…
When we got this cool guitar, it was a mess. The bridge had pulled off, broke and left a hole and cracks on the top. We called in one of our awesome Techs and he went to work on it. He flattened the top, repaired the cracks and was able to find us an original 1960’s Newport bridge which he placed on the repaired hole… See pics 2 ,3, 4, 5 and 6 ... He did a great job. Salvaged this really cool Fender Guitar.
Given the bolt on neck, the action is always very easy to adjust with either the truss rod that works perfectly or a neck shim. This guitar has a small shim in it. The action is awesome. I have had several of these guitars and this is the best player of any of them. Great action on the neck that feels much more like an electric guitar than a flat top guitar. It has a Rosewood board and a 25 ½ inch scale neck. The nut measures 1 5/8 inches…
The guitar has a 14 ¼ inch wide body and is 41 inches long overall. It is 4 inches wide. The nut is original as is the tuners and the three ply Pickguard. No lifting of the bridge or the pickguard. This guitar is beautiful. The bridge saddle has plenty of room to lower should you need to at future date. Quite the guitar!!
How bout that original Soft Shell case!! We never get to get them with these guitars. All original and working latches, hinges and original handle. This cool case even has the accessory box still with it! A great case now for your cool Fender Newporter Guitar!
Now this guitar is cool but used and vintage so its sold as is no returns. However, I have been hand picking my customers instruments for over 20 years now and they all loved the guitars I found them. This cool Jumbo will certainly not be an exception.
