I just posted a video speaking just about all of this to let my generation and the younger know that it's the realization of God's love for us that will help us with realizing who we are, therefore, not settling for less because we know what we deserve. My favorite advice to give to someone in terms of this is " Never get into an accident on purpose". Not to say that is easy because we are humans and what we go through is real. But If we focus on becoming our best selves for Jesus and eventually for our significant other, when we enter into a relationship with a purpose, it will be thriving. Blessings to you guys! A major cringeworthy aspect of the situation for me is in the actual presenting of a certificate indicating the state of vaginal parts to your FATHER! What's wrong with a sighed certificate declaring that you "honored God's commandment and maintained the purity of his temple"? Means the same thing (actually it's better than using the hymen as proof because you can still have an intact hymen and get into other activities) and it doesn't involve the weirdness of sharing the state of your hymen with a man who is not your husband. People be doing to much sometimes. I have a father and a grandfather who both encourage me to be pure they would be mortified if I gave them that certificate. I feel it's fine for fathers to really feel like they can disciple children directly with firmness and grace about sexual issues without being involved in the state of their grown daughter's privates.

Just sharing...so, it can narrow the playing field. I've had both experiences. When I was in college (around age 21), a guy (and we stayed cool) told me he was interested, but when I told him I wasn't having sex until marriage, he was like I can't do it. I got ya, I respected his stance, as long as he respected mine. However, in 2 relationships I had when I got older (ages 24 and 35) both guys totally respected it, and one was in it with me. God knows and cares, so when you honor Him, He'll bring things to pass. Amen!
Yvonne Orji thank you for having this conversation. I am a 39 yo single celibate female and have been for about 4 years now. It has been a definite struggle but when I told a former boyfriend (who claims to be a christian) about my decision to be celibate he just could not understand. He was suggesting that I was being influenced by my church and that it doesn't say in the bible specifically about having sex, trying to break down the definition of fornication and sexual immorality. I knew he wasn't the one that God had for me before but after that conversation he completely destroyed his chances of ever calling us a couple again. I just wanted to share that story and that you for making these topics easier to talk about. P.S. my favorite verse to go to is: For your Maker is your husband- the Lord Almighty is his name- the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth. Isaiah 54:5
Psalm 119:9 "How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word." That is how you stay pure, the Word of our Father is like a double edge sword. God will not abandon us to our own strength. There is power in the word, and there are answers in the word 😊

This was a really encouraging video, however I wish that you touched more on also resisting temptation of lust in the mind! A lot of times we find ourselves sinning by even simply thinking about sex, replacing the action of having sex with constantly just lusting after it and thinking about it. Any suggestions for how to resist temptation not only physically but also mentally?
"Why is it such a big deal to meet adult virgins? Why does it seem more acceptable to be sexual than to be abstinent?" Because in this stupid, rebellious, disgusting world, society (mostly youth) believes 'virginity' is a "loser tag" than needs to be ripped off by a certain age. I will admit, even as a 22yo christian there are times when the beliefs of the world invade my thoughts and I do feel like a lesser person because I haven't had sex yet, when people 5, 6, 7 years younger than me have. Are you male or female? and dont feel like that. Virginity is the best thing ever and i was always proud of it. I literally lost it 3 weeks away from my 22nd birthday in my birthday month. Once you lose it it just changes everything and can really destroy someone depending on how that person is. Too many people are just out here giving it to everybody or just doing it period which God does not approve of outside of marriage. Most people are having sex even the so called Christians and the ones that call themselves a man or a woman of God. Smh its really important to stay the course because you don't not know who is watching you and your life you know especially if you always talk about and like some people I have on my Facebook page always posting up scriptures and talking about the lord etc etc. One really claims it and claims to be a woman of God but has one maybe more video talking about she is still drunk and is currently pregnant and a couple of people who claim to be Godly and talk about God all the time are pregnant and not married. SMh so me being me now I feel as if I cannot listen to anything that they are saying about God because they are not living accordingly. That can really cause a babe in Christ to stumble. So it is really important if you are claiming to be a child of/ woman or man of God that you are living accordingly. Sex can ruin that. So if you are abstinet continue to do that because you never know who is watching you life and how you are living and needs someone to be an example to them to know that they are not alone in trying to do what is right according to the bible.
Great topic yall, remaining abstinent or celebate until marriage is not so much about us but about God. We are to glorify God in all that we do for 1 Cor 10:31 says "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God". We were made for Gods glory. Isaiah 43:7 says "Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him." We also see in 1 Cor 6:18-20 that we are to "Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's." This means that beside being created for Gods glory, our bodies are the temple in which the holy spirit dwells and we are to keep it pure for in us is where the holy spirit dwells. In verse 9 of 1 Cor 6 we also that fornicators will not inherit the kingdom of God and as a result if we want to honour God and be saved in the kingdom that last forever then we are serve him faithfully......Just as the priest was the only one to enter the holy of Holies...the only one to enter my holy of Holies must be my priest (husband)....Blessings!

My scripture has been for this journey: Romans 12:2 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. I love dancing and I'm african, so we use every part of our body when we dance and I keep a body roll in my front pocket, but a lot of times I'm around a circle of friends (mostly girls). So just ask: are we talking dancing or grinding and backing it up on a dude, knowing that an erection is about to happen? Two different things. Again, let Holy Spirit lead and check motives. (Also keep in mind: what's a conviction for me, may not be a conviction for you and vise versa). The Bible isn't a strict rule book of dos and donts and rights and wrongs. A person who calls them self a Christian but does not actively want to follow the word of God as best as they can, that is a heart issue and not a man I’m interested in leading me.

Was the backlash REALLY about that young woman being a virgin as much as it was about her presenting a certificate to her father as though her body is his property? The ideology that women's bodies are under the ownership of men is just as rampant in the church as it is in the world...only we guise it under the concept of "purity". Lots of couples, Christian or not, abstain from pre-marital sex without being creepy about it.
That's what the debate is about...which was it? According to her, it was because she wanted him to know she kept her word. It was important to her that he knew that. The issue was not that the young lady was a virgin. The issue for most was that she presented her father with a certificate of a personal choice...and as a woman and Christian her choice hopefully was motivated by personal devotion, not parental duty. If any man deserved the certificate, it should have been her husband.
According to her, she wanted him to know she kept her word. It was important to her that he knew that. So if we go off her, it's safe to say that it was a personal choice. It's a very interesting topic for believers to bounce around. Thanks for joining the conversation!
I hear you on the rationale behind the certificate being a big issue. For a lot of people, though, there was plenty issue that she was a virgin. A lot of people felt as if they were being boastful in a "pride-filled" way. I think the issue depends on the side you stand on.
What about the virgins/celibates that engaged in foreplay without penetration. Are they still marketing for God? If we wanna go according to the the word of God concerning sexual immorality. Just curious
Interesting, no one talked about masturbation. Whether its without porn or with porn. I guess that's too taboo. Because if your not having sex your most likely masturbating. They don't talk about this, especially for males. Its definitely possible not to masturbate. If you have hulk like self control. But If you have the spirit of god in you this shouldn't be a problem. right?

+Aaron: I think it's important to remember that none of us will enter Heaven perfect because God knows we are all sinners saved by grace. We all struggle with something and God know that. But he also looks at our hearts and wants to see that we will still serve Him and follow Him despite those shortcomings. Like my pastor says, you don't have to be perfect for God to use you. Not taboo at all. And no sex doesn't automatically equate to masterbation for a girl or guy. The idea isn't to find alternative ways to get off while waiting, it's to sacrifice our wants and our needs now, out of obedience to a loving father, so later, on we can reap an amazing harvest. if we keep our focus on that, the other stuff starts to fade, sure sometimes it's easier said than done... A Christian is already in a relationship with God. Single or married we are to continue to seek God's will in our lives. However, a single person has a greater freedom to do God's work without the responsibilities and concerns of also being married.
You learn how to be celibate from leaders who have practiced that but first u have to ask God to lead u to someone that can help you with that in life. Within the church it has to talk about what u can do.

I don't wanna be with someone who has been sexually active already that's nasty 🤢 and I don't want nobody's soulties. I would rather a guy who is a virgin like me at least I know he clean and hasn't been frightened with no diseases
I think it's a blessing to save for marriage or to become celibate in repentance but Giving ur father a certificate saying your hymen is still attached on your wedding day in front of everyone? That's extra inappropriate and it comes off as being self righteous.

I got ya, I respected his stance, as long as he respected mine. However, in 2 relationships I had when I got older (ages 24 and 35) both guys totally respected it, and one was in it with me. Yvonne Orji thank you for having this conversation. I am a 39 yo single celibate female and have been for about 4 years now. It has been a definite struggle but when I told a former boyfriend (who claims to be a christian) about my decision to be celibate he just could not understand. He was suggesting that I was being influenced by my church and that it doesn't say in the bible specifically about having sex, trying to break down the definition of fornication and sexual immorality. I knew he wasn't the one that God had for me before but after that conversation he completely destroyed his chances of ever calling us a couple again. I just wanted to share that story and that you for making these topics easier to talk about. P.S. my favorite verse to go to is:

This was a really encouraging video, however I wish that you touched more on also resisting temptation of lust in the mind! A lot of times we find ourselves sinning by even simply thinking about sex, replacing the action of having sex with constantly just lusting after it and thinking about it. Any suggestions for how to resist temptation not only physically but also mentally?

Because in this stupid, rebellious, disgusting world, society (mostly youth) believes 'virginity' is a "loser tag" than needs to be ripped off by a certain age. Are you male or female? and dont feel like that. Virginity is the best thing ever and i was always proud of it. I literally lost it 3 weeks away from my 22nd birthday in my birthday month. Once you lose it it just changes everything and can really destroy someone depending on how that person is. Too many people are just out here giving it to everybody or just doing it period which God does not approve of outside of marriage. Most people are having sex even the so called Christians and the ones that call themselves a man or a woman of God. Smh its really important to stay the course because you don't not know who is watching you and your life you know especially if you always talk about and like some people I have on my Facebook page always posting up scriptures and talking about the lord etc etc. One really claims it and claims to be a woman of God but has one maybe more video talking about she is still drunk and is currently pregnant and a couple of people who claim to be Godly and talk about God all the time are pregnant and not married. SMh so me being me now I feel as if I cannot listen to anything that they are saying about God because they are not living accordingly. That can really cause a babe in Christ to stumble. So it is really important if you are claiming to be a child of/ woman or man of God that you are living accordingly. Sex can ruin that. So if you are abstinet continue to do that because you never know who is watching you life and how you are living and needs someone to be an example to them to know that they are not alone in trying to do what is right according to the bible.

Great topic yall, remaining abstinent or celebate until marriage is not so much about us but about God. We are to glorify God in all that we do for 1 Cor 10:31 says "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God". We were made for Gods glory. Isaiah 43:7 says "Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him." We also see in 1 Cor 6:18-20 that we are to "Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's." This means that beside being created for Gods glory, our bodies are the temple in which the holy spirit dwells and we are to keep it pure for in us is where the holy spirit dwells. In verse 9 of 1 Cor 6 we also that fornicators will not inherit the kingdom of God and as a result if we want to honour God and be saved in the kingdom that last forever then we are serve him faithfully......Just as the priest was the only one to enter the holy of Holies...the only one to enter my holy of Holies must be my priest (husband)....Blessings!

I have decided not to put myself in situations that will lead me to be tempted and when I feel tempted I have set my mind to remember I do have strong will through Christ. I love dancing and I'm african, so we use every part of our body when we dance and I keep a body roll in my front pocket, but a lot of times I'm around a circle of friends (mostly girls). So just ask: are we talking dancing or grinding and backing it up on a dude, knowing that an erection is about to happen? Two different things. Again, let Holy Spirit lead and check motives. (Also keep in mind: what's a conviction for me, may not be a conviction for you and vise versa). The Bible isn't a strict rule book of dos and donts and rights and wrongs. It's a guide to an amazing relationship.

Was the backlash REALLY about that young woman being a virgin as much as it was about her presenting a certificate to her father as though her body is his property? The ideology that women's bodies are under the ownership of men is just as rampant in the church as it is in the world...only we guise it under the concept of "purity". Lots of couples, Christian or not, abstain from pre-marital sex without being creepy about it.
That's what the debate is about...which was it? According to her, it was because she wanted him to know she kept her word. It was important to her that he knew that. The issue was not that the young lady was a virgin. The issue for most was that she presented her father with a certificate of a personal choice...and as a woman and Christian her choice hopefully was motivated by personal devotion, not parental duty. If any man deserved the certificate, it should have been her husband.
According to her, she wanted him to know she kept her word. It was important to her that he knew that. So if we go off her, it's safe to say that it was a personal choice. It's a very interesting topic for believers to bounce around. Thanks for joining the conversation!
I hear you on the rationale behind the certificate being a big issue. For a lot of people, though, there was plenty issue that she was a virgin. A lot of people felt as if they were being boastful in a "pride-filled" way. I think the issue depends on the side you stand on.

+Aaron: I think it's important to remember that none of us will enter Heaven perfect because God knows we are all sinners saved by grace. We all struggle with something and God know that. But he also looks at our hearts and wants to see that we will still serve Him and follow Him despite those shortcomings. Like my pastor says, you don't have to be perfect for God to use you. Gilbert Ishimwe I'm 37 and saving myself. I couldn't see myself with someone who isn't a virgin. I don't wanna be with someone who has been sexually active already that's nasty 🤢 and I don't want nobody's soulties.
