I just attempted to grow peanuts in N. Illinois this year and I must say it worked waaaaaay better than expected! About 30 plants gave me a bit more than 600 individual peanuts.

Nice! They are very productive. You will yield more as you condition the soil for them.

Never been diagnosed but I’m pretty sure I’m in a adhd hyper fixation on peanuts watched a ton of videos and now i’m pretty sure I could grow my own peanuts. I shall be a peanut farmer… probably 😂

Some crops are sprayed with glyphosate as a dessicant prior to harvest and can show up at a health market labeled "organic" . Is there anyone out there spraying peanuts with Roundup??? (I eat a lot of peanuts) PLEASE RESPOND, I'll get notification. Thankyou.

Super helpful! Been wanting to try growing peanuts for years, but I live in Canada where it tends to be too cold to grow peanuts even in the fairly warm part that I'm in. But this year I finally found a cultivar developed for the area that can grow in our relatively short season. So I'm finally trying them out next year!

@@DebRoo11 I’m waiting on mine to finish now. I’m in the same zone and province!
Unfortunately only ONE plant survived to grow out of the dozen I planted, they either got eaten or I accidentally pulled them up thinking they were weeds. The one that made it is doing great, but it’ll be a month before I can dig it up. Better luck next year. 😅

Cool. I grew some in northern midwest area and they did just fine but I need more sand in my soil. Plus my dog got into the garden it was like a peanut massacre the next morning 😄

Thanks for this helpful video. For the loose peanuts that you put in the dehydrator, how long do you dehydrate for?

@@DebRoo11 that's great. We have a ton as well. Always nice to see them thriving. And you can use the greens for compost (+nitrogen I believe). The dehydrator turns a week or two long process into hours and is a huge help.

They take about 4 to 5 months to grow and love sandy soil. Just normal watering is fine.

Hi! Your video was super helpful! I already pulled 1/4 of my peanuts and laid them out to dry in ball boxes in my greenhouse- now I’m worried! I absolutely do not have the space to hang them on the plant undercover. Do you think they’ll be alright in the greenhouse or do you have any other suggestions? Also is there anything specific you do for seed saving next years crop? Thank you so much! Subscribing !

can you plant the peanut plant back into ground
    after harvesting

No but you will absolutely miss a few peanuts and they will resprout quickly.

    • @CountryLivingExperience

@@mariahunt9963 Dry them out and save them for the next season to replant at the proper time. Although, you will miss some in the ground and they will resprout when the temps are correct. I have had peanuts come up in the same spot for 4 years and I only intentionally planted there once.
