    With so many smart lights now requiring a neutral wire it would be good to do a video on that. There is no SA content on TH-cam

    Oh my oh my South African content 🎉🎉 thank you. My son broke the bathroom switch and I need to change it because my husband and electricity do not mix even though he studied electrical engineering (light current) wish me luck 😂
    Thanks for the video❤

    It its advisable to use a blue wire as the out out, hence when you are doing the COC they say you must use the red wire? In the olden days my grandfather they were taught to use the blue wire as a return wire. Before i did COC i use to use a Blue wire.

    Thanks for the tutorial. May I ask, can and Isolator Switch be used instead of a light switch 😊

    question. exact same scenario ( dimmer to normal switch swop ) however I got 3 red wires ( presumably 2 wires and 1 wire connection ) but do not know which wires are which ?? can I just do a trial and error or will I blow eskom up ???

    How TF did you manage to just pop off the cover so effortlessly? We have been trying to wedge it off for nearly 2 hours, nearly breaking it in the process and badly scratching the wall around it, are we doing something wrong?

    Hi. Could you please demonstrate how to replace a triple switch for 3 lights. There are only 2 pairs of wires coming through the conduit pipe.

      @siphomayisela288 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      No you do not need a COC for just changing the components

    Why is there no earth

    • @ecologicaltime
      @ecologicaltime  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      there is earth connected to the case but in terms of the switch there is no earth as the switch merely opens and closes the live current. No earth on the switch.

      @@ecologicaltime Just to mention this is probably the best channel I have come across for South Africa as most are related to maintenance and repairs abroad which can be confusing for a novice like myself. Quick question about the light switch, it doesn't matter in which connection the live and the neutral wire goes on the switch, am I correct? However in your video on wiring a DB Board you mentioned that a light switch only has to break the live wire? Taking this in consideration the next problem I have is the below question.
      Apologies but this might not be a quick answer, but how do I determine which wire is which at a light switch when someone previously used the same color wire (blue) to the switch?? (Two blue wires at the switch and no earth wire)
      PS. We have a "Place of Safety" for abandoned babies and toddlers and that is why I try and repair everything myself as funds are not available for the cost of an electrician.
      Thanks in advance should you be able to answer these questions for me and for having created such an amazing helpful channel.

      Only the electrician will know, switch off the switch then use the line tester to test, it will indicate which wire comes from the DB.

      There must be an earth, otherwise it will fail the bonding test when doing COC, however you don't connect the earth, you just roll it inside the switch. That is why they prefer the work to be done under the supervision of someone with COC, yes the work can be done by a qualified electrician however he/she must be monitored by a registered person due to SANS standard that must be followed. Only the registered person will know the language.
