Well... every being had to live in their own universe for their spririt to remain healthy. It hurts to be in the wrong universe too long as Will's father said. And they couldn't travel between wolds because all portals had to be closed up and the knife destroyed so disorder/darkness could not get a chance to emerge from the gaps in the Dust. So they had to live apart. I hope this clears it up a bit.@@jlordj2660
i love what Phillip Pullman did with this ending. Lyra and Will do represent Adam&Eve. but unlike the biblical characters, Lyra and Will made the ultimate sacrifice to stay apart, leave paradise, and SAVE the universe by preserving the DUST in all the universes, which ironically supposedly represents “evil” according to the magisterium.
This series never got the exposure it deserved, only unnecessary hate. I understand the allegory, but obviously no one is made to think it’s the same as real life. It’s fantasy and details are wildly exaggerated, like many other franchises that use religion as a basis for storytelling. The show is really good, and I’m one of the few people who hoped for the movies to be brought into fruition a long time ago.
They did try to make it a movie years ago!! But now I’m thankful that it failed and we got this TV series instead!! There is no way in a movir trilogy that they could hit you as hard as they do at the end of the TV show!! And I’m sure the producers would’ve been like no no we need to give it a happy ending!!
I would’ve worked to expand more on Lyra‘s world. In my opinion I never knew what happened to the magisterium and the polar bears and witches, and how they tides resolved in their war.
Their separation broke my heart. The depth of their bond and the pain of their farewell brought tears to my eyes. That moment will forever echo within me, a beautiful blend of love and loss."
After DARK, this is the 2nd best ending in my watched series list. Although they deserved better ending but got separated for the greater good. After watching this masterpiece, of course i'll cry for a week for their separation. But deep down, His Dark Materials will be one of the masterpiece series's to be encountered💚

I’m glad the movie they tried to do years ago!! Never went past the first movie!! There is no way through a trilogy of three movies. Could they have pulled off what they did in this TV show!! it is heartbreaking and you still love the story they told you!! That is storytelling!! And with these three seasons, they were able to make that connection there’s no way they could pull that off and three movies!!

I watched Golden Compass when I was a child. It felt incomplete with that horrible ending of a movie, and no sequel came of it. Recently found out about this series, and my curiosity is finally done. Beautiful story, great acting, and the plot was just right up my alley. Sighs* cheers to a bittersweet end.

These two are literally the first and only time a straight couple has managed to make me feel emotional about them. Usually I don't feel as much when it comes to straight couples so the fact that His Dark Materials managed to just proves how good it was. Probably my favourite books and show. Mrs Coulter is my favourite part of it though.

Just finished watching it. Never read the books. Big fan of the golden compass movie. As in depth as this show is, I would have never guessed the journey they would be on from the movie. People say the show is lacking but it is always difficult to convert books to live adaptation.

This show just kept getting better and better, and thankfully, I’ve never written the book and I had no idea how it ends!! so this hit me way harder than I thought it would’ve had I read the book!! After the show I went to other people they’re like oh no, that’s exactly how the book ends!! 🥺😢😭… when a TV show makes you feel into these characters that strongly you have done your job!!
