I think this may be as fantastic as Lion Camp! I'm always excited for these updates and seeing in real time how Elephant Valley's taking shape - the rockwork looks incredible, possibly SDZSP's best yet! As for the plants, I'm always amazed by the horticultural team's work - excited to see it when it's complete! (If only they'll then link these exhibits up to the African field enclosures and have a mixed species environment to rival Dallas' Giants of the Savanna 😅)

This will definitely be an amazing expansion right up there with Tiger Trail and Lion Camp. I doubt mixing the Elephants with the East Africa yard will ever happen due to the need to demolish a new path they just made and I don’t know if there is a zoo that mixes Elephants with White Rhinos or Cape Buffalo.

@@rjb_wildlife Maybe not white rhinos, but Borås mixes elephants with giraffes, cape buffalo, zebra, other antelope and guineafowl! The rhinos could be moved over to the South Africa field exhibit instead - alas, one can only dream, Elephant Valley as is'll be stellar for sure!

If the Safari Park wasn’t so heavily invested in the Northern White Rhino project that could be a possibility. There are Rhinos in all of the African Plain habitats at the moment with 2 males in South Africa, 2 females in Central Africa and the breeding herd of 6 in East Africa. The rescue center has another 5-6 individuals.

Do you know, with the opening of a new restaurant, will they be keeping the Watering Hole open?

The Elephant Valley restaurant will open with the rest of the experience and the Watering Hole restaurant will remain open. The Elephant Valley restaurant will be the parks version of Albert’s at the zoo.

October 2025 is the scheduled completion timeline, depending on weather patterns this year
