It’s really cool to see how other Ready mix drivers in other states run their day. Leaving for work when it’s dark and coming home when it’s dark. We have central mix plants in NYC makes it a lot easier. Enjoying the videos.
Like your videos and how you explain your job. I drove a mixer for 43 years before I retired. I never did mind going to a curb machine too much, They usually had good crews there. Until the last few years I drove manuals, MaxiTorques and Roadrangers. A little ticklish on steep hills but everything went Okay. Looking in your mirror, looks like you're pouring for a good crew.
I hear you about moving out of the Tac-Seattle area. We did it 2 years ago to a place north of Spokane. Small town (no groceries), acreage, wildlife, and the best part no frckn traffic, no noise. The bad part is it's a 3 hour RT to groceries. But hey, plan for it and it's okay. Oh yeah one more thing, property taxes are 75% lower. Yea!
Appreciate the content. My grandfather drove a mixer here in Tacoma. He drove for Scofield Tru-Mix then Lonestar. Question for you or this community I'm 33 and I've worked in healthcare for the last 12 years and burnt out. Thinking of following in my grandpa's foot steps. However what should I expect pay wise? Probably not what I make now or close to it 36/hr 75K/year? Just want an idea of what I'm getting into. Thanks You Guys!
Nice man, I started out in Tacoma at Holroyd. Realistically you'll probably start out around 26-28/hr or 60-70K/yr... but it's such an easy job, you can listen to podcasts or audio books, and you're on your own most of the day. I started when I was 33 and I don't regret it at all. All things considered a little pay cut might be worth it for a job you enjoy. Good luck man, I hope you find something that works for you.
I just started following your channel. But anyways I used to be stationed at Fairchild Afb up there in Eastern Washington and now I'm about to start a job driving concrete trucks here in Omaha.
You're young and this is kicking your ass. I'm older and I can't last in this. Trump administration allowed the local driver exemption Oct 2918 to Oct 2023. So companies can beat the hell out of drivers.
I'm pretty sure that's based on company policy how they treat their employees not Trump. You forget the reason why you had so much work at the begin with was because of the strong Trump economy or would you have preferred to be laid off and do no work? I thought so
Look for a medium sized company (20-30 trucks maybe) who take care of their equipment. Good trucks with a smaller company means you can do your job effectively and have flexibility with your schedule. Good luck!
That's not cool how dispatch picks and chooses which loads go to certain drivers. At my company, they send out tickets first come first serve, no exceptions. Keeps things fair in my opinion
You can find a good job. Find something that is recession resistant. Escape the mixer job before it is too late. You are young, do it now before you get old.
Yeah man, AAA has some pretty good equipment. The drivers actually clean their own trucks. Although it's easy to KEEP it clean, it's another story to MAKE it clean. So if you inherit a truck that's already clean it a lot easier to keep it that way. We scrub almost daily if we have time...
A straight curb machine is ok. Doing a bunch of small islands in a tight parking lot with earthmovers, bulldozers and other construction equipment everywhere. 😤😡🤬
I'm loving watching the first person point of view that you use in these videos as I prepare for my first day on the job. Super pumped!
Keep the videos coming I’m enjoying the content. Good work.

the cold shower idea is if u can handle it the rest of your day can't be that bad
Yeah, might be better in theory than practice though haha
To let the boot pop in……..🤪

What kind of advice would you give to somebody who's thinking about driving concrete truck

@@grabbinggears109 what company would you say is good in seattle area… cal portland, lehigh hanson, cadman, stoneway??

Yeah that's usually how it works. Not sure what happened this time, but I just edit out the swearing and carry on haha
Same unless there’s only 1 or 2 more loads left then they tend to go by seniority but that’s only if there’s trucks waiting around.
Can you show material go in the drum

How often are you having to get up at 2-3 am? is that every week, all year or once in a big job?
Are you the #2 driver
What ear buds are those? Biggest reason you wear them?
Who cleans your trucks. They look good I've seen some that looks like crap. Super nice trucks. Bet the mechanics love working on them

I say the same thing about curb machine! Ugh.
What’s the job like for noob? Does it take a long time to be trained? Noobs get the worst schedules?
Where you at my mam
My boss did that to me alot when i was young and it was because I was the lowest paid driver at that time 25 yrs ago
Maybe when you get 20 years in the will give you break.

That's like grout nix isn't it?
To catch the boot in your hopper
1 inch slump...curb machine sucks
