I can't believe I'm seeing this. I was 7 years old 50 years ago this summer. This episode, with the skeleton hand, was the exact thing that hooked me on Dark Shadows. CHEERS!!!!
That opening scene with the hand was my first exposure to the show. I remember a baby sitter at our house was watching this in our kitchen and I heard the screaming. I came running in to see what was going on and I saw that skeletal hand, followed by the creepy opening theme. "What IS this?" I asked. "Dark Shadows" she said ominously. I was hooked right then.
Diabolos (the master of Angelique and Nicholas) would become angry at both of them for letting love (Angelique for Barnabas, Nicholas for Maggie) weaken them and to take them away from their prescribed missions.
Nicholas was one of the few things about this series that could, at times, be genuinely unnerving and frightening. Often it was so campy and overacted that it failed to be scary, but Nicholas, in scenes like this, came across as dangerous.
Lynne Braun, this scared me too when iI was a kid! When I saw it in reruns, it didn't. But as a child, I made sure I said my prayers before going to bed! I didn't have nightmares, thank God!
Are those her fingers poking out from beneath sleeve? LoL! I adore Dan Curtis Productions, DS, the actors, awa cast/crew bloopers/blunders, but must admit there are def times they could've tried just a wee bit harder.

She had a nice big bandage. Don’t think it helped. That hand was like chicken bones. Crunch. I was about 11 and thought Karma made have been dropping by for Cassandra.
It was strange; as mad as Angelique had made us in 1795 -cursing Barnabas, directly responsible for the deaths of Jeremiah, Sara and Josette, and Vicki's near-hanging- when things returned to 1968, and she was soon at the mercy of this warlock -who had little to no mercy- audience sympathy for Angelique was greatly amplified and stayed attached to the end of the show. Bad behavior and all, Angelique courted our love, patience and understanding, and won it; Nicolas never did, and never could.
I totally disagree. I love Nicholas and don't care for Angelique. She didn't get enough punishment for what she deserved. And Nicholas has a lot of fans on his side. Humbert Allen Astredo was an amazing actor who did a fantastic job in the three roles he played on this show.
@@elizabethroy1079 I agree and I am assuming that his diminished role in the last year was due to his involvement with theater. They could have included him in the first part of the parallel time storyline instead of filling it with new and lesser talents ( I did like Elizabeth Eis). There could have been a parallel Nicholas with less powers and he and they could pulled Marie Wallace back on the show and made her his confidante and they could have had their own adventure. It would have been more fun than the worn out "Is Alexis really Angelique?"

PS Did Nicholas ever wear any other suit other than that gray suit of his? In fact, Nicholas must have started to have gotten a little “ripe” what with wearing that same suit everyday.
Lara Parker looks beautiful as a blond (her natural hair color) and as a brunette. Why she did not become an A or even B lister is very curious. I suspect she refused to sell her soul to the Hollywood devil
Lara Parker has naturally light hair. And that's how she appeared as Angelique in the 1795 storyline. However as Cassandra she had very dark hair. Did they put a wig on her? Or did she dye it for the series?
