Had the pleasure of playing Maurice back in the early eighties, and he could trash talk with the best of them in blitz. In blitz he was seeing the entire plan of a game while we were seeing just a move or two.
A total gentleman in a tournament game. I'll never forget at the Kingsmen chess club they had a tournament, and Maurice was in it. In our game I forgot to hit my clock twice, and he brought it to my attention by extending his open palm toward my clock.

Claude F Bloodgood was serving life for murdering his mother with a shovel, during this time he achieved a rating higher than Bobby Fischer and was automatically invited to the US chess championship (an invite he couldn’t keep for obvious reasons) though he is rumoured to have manipulated the rating system in prison games. He also became a master postal player and wrote a couple of published chess books.
