My mother sang for weddings (accompanied on guitar by my ex-step-father for a lot of them. He also harmonized with her and has a beautiful voice himself) all throughout my childhood and the first time I heard this song it was done by her and some of her friends, all of them harmonizing, some playing guitar and her on piano. I remember sneaking down a few steps down from the second floor to sit and listen to them play and sing downstairs. Absolutely beautiful. That was how I heard many beautiful folk songs from this era for the first time. They loved to jam so there was always music, singing, guitars playing or piano, dancing, even clapping along. Or the record player playing Jim Croce, Loggins & Messina, Simon & Garfunkel, Cat Stevens, The Beatles, Kansas, The Doobie Bros, Allman Bros, Zeppelin, the Who, Billy Joel, Elton John and so many more. So glad I was raised on the best music.

He said he loved my arrangement. I said "Thank you", and my name is Allen Quintana and I often play here at Vanessie's. He said " It's nice to meet you and you are a great pianist. My name is Dan Fogelberg. My jaw dropped.....and I kept talking with him, but I don't remember anything after his compliment. What a great singer / composer. I always think of Journey songs as sad. The music sounds sad but not the words. It also has to do with your past and a song too. If it played after you break up with someone you love it would be a sad song that way too. Everyone reacts to music different but to me this song is relaxing. A good example of a song that became sad is Nights are forever without you. I lost my dad and it played. I was real close to him. Even though the song is about something totally different it still reminds me of him just because I heard it right after he died.
