Mukarram is absolutely right. They created a spectacular scene with an amazing actress like Saba Hameed who performed beautifully to drive home a message that's so entirely wrong! Sometimes you need the counterargument right then and there, not later.

I think Mukarram's review of these episodes of NJ was more nuanced and sensibly put, than all the judges combined. I am sorry, but intelligent writing warrants responsibility and you cannot simply write whatever you would like to, without a counterbalance that ideally should immediately follow. This is especially important when the made arguments are also factually incorrect. Otherwise, this is simply misinformation being spread to the masses, on national television.

Highly agreed with mukarram.. It was such a horrible writing.. Pemra ko yeh dialogues ban krny chahye it's against islamic Shariah.. Humary han sirf educated log thori dramay dekhty hain, bht sy uneducated log b dramay dekty hain ap unki soch ko barhawa dyrhy hain.. Dramas are not just entertainment, it gives education too! I think the writer and the team should be educated enough to create good content!
Also, the two protagonists are women - Noor Jehan and Noor Bano. Noor Bano will be the antidote to the poison that is Noor Jehan and the message of the drama is that if you are in this situation, you don't have to take the abuse.

I am from India, and I watch a lot of Pakistani dramas on TH-cam. In fact, I speak very highly about them to my friends who are not so well acquainted with Pakistani dramas. But Noor Jahan drama really disappointed me because of its approach, its dialogues towards the birth of a girl child. It is such a regressive approach and I was horrified that such dramas are being made in 2024. I was beginning to think this is how Pakistanis think. I'm truly glad these issues are being raised in this program.
It is also true that Pakistani SaaS is reflected in this way still in our homes. I know so many middle-class families with this mentality.
Yes, confronting is essential right away to stop negative thoughts. This is an excellent drama that educates SAAS through this medium.

I think you guys are absolutely right to criticize demeaning characters and writing that degrades women and perpetuates negativity. Writers need to remember that our dramas are watched by international audiences now and we don't want to portray a needlessly negative image of Pakistani society. Yes problems should be discussed but not in this manner, where it's all negativity with no goodness to oppose it.
Also, Pakistani dramas have been dubbed for Turkish audiences for a while now, including Khani, Kaisi Teri Khudgarzi and one of Marina Khan's dramas Aulaad. Tere Bin is getting very good views already on a Turkish channel.

Drama is for entertainment not lecture on social issues. Besides reality doesn't get affected by dramas regardless the giddy goody posturing
When will our writers give this clear message that the sex of the baby SOLELY depends on the father? Men determine the sex of a baby depending on whether their sperm is carrying an X or Y chromosome. An X chromosome combines with the mother’s X chromosome to make a baby girl (XX) and a Y chromosome will combine with the mother’s to make a boy (XY).
Dramas like Noor Jahan falsely portray the woman as the culprit of having a daughter. There was only ONE short moment in the last episode where Safina asks her husband if having a girl is in her hands. That's it! For all of the episodes since her pregnancy, there is continued false and misleading brainwashing from all sides that the wife is responsible for the sex of the baby. There wasn't a single moment where anyone countered Noor Jahan and stated this clear fact that larka ya larki baap ki waja se hota hai, maa ki waja se nai. The writer should be held responsible for misleading the viewers.
Oh my, no emotions in the scene where the daughters in law meet. Rubina you need a factory reset!! That scene showed that she doesn't even have to say anything but Sumbul understands her feelings.

I think the writer will bring the message of daughters being a good thing and not bad in the story further. They completely misunderstood the plot, Noor Jehan's husband lost the 'gaddi' and she wants a grandson to get that back and therefore take revenge on Ikhtiar Shah.

Thank you for highlighting the regressive writing of this play. You cannot put gems and gold around something to make it look good when it’s ugly to begin with. A toxic story lavishly told is still a toxic story. I know most reviewers are loving it because they are getting lost in the marvelous acting and action. They are not realizing the horrible messages the story is sending. Astagfarullah ! Someone needs to tell people like Zanjabeel to stop writing and for Badar Mehmood to stop directing.

Agreed. Afreen hai Rubina pe, an unmarried young man has to tell her that a miscarriage can happen just from stress! "Khair, that happened". Then, he also has to tell her how much trauma a mother has after losing her baby. She has no grasp on human emotions and psychology.

The darker it is, have to admit it’s true and harsher reality that prevails. Birth of daughters are considered like this in so much fine looking families. It’s not used literally but the Noor Jahan uses it in sense of control of her estate that includes her sons and where her daughter in laws are slaves, she provide hints of the spots where she was demeaned by the family members like noor banos father.
I think Alina Abbas did a great job overall.
