    Your fabrics are lovely! The white denim jacket and floral will look great. I’ve made a denim jacket in lt blue stretch denim by the same jean jacket pattern. I made my longer since I’m long waisted. Using the stretch fabric I had challenges getting the sleeve in armseye without puckers but it turned out great. I bought brass colored buttons from WAWAK on line. I’m going to make a white one also. I love the shaping of the jacket!

    You mention that you don't have a jumper to go over thick seams without the presser foot going uphill. I see you have a little black thingy on your presser foot. On my maschine pressing this button in will level the foot, so that it will sew straight / even over the thick seams. It helps a lot forming even stitches, and not fighting up over that seam. Hope this will work in your maschine top 😘

  • @seamsuneven7824
    @seamsuneven7824 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hi Karina, question...this may be a foolish one.🤷🏽‍♀️ Why would it be less fabric if you didn't cut your fabric on the fold? I also wanted to say for the bulky parts...if you make your seams go in the opposite direction it will make it easier to sew. That's what we do in quilting. Seeing as you don't have a foot/gadget to help with bulky seams. Take a bit of scrap fabric, and fold it to put behind your foot to lift it to help you over the bulk. That is what the gadget would do. You could use a piece of sturdy plastic or wood etc. Great video! If I were to get the pattern, do you get the mens/women in the same pattern. Thank you.

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Less fabric because I can place the extended pattern piece anywhere I don’t have to look for the “fold” in the fabric as such. Easier to visualize them all on the fabric too. If I put the bulk the opposite way I don’t get good results with my machine and the seam will tend to go in the direction I showed there. Cotton is different to this fabric and it doesn’t stay where you put it. This pattern does not have a men’s version. A woman’s and a girl’s and they are separate patterns 😀.

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I sewed for 10 years without a serger initially and would just zigzag the edges. Some types of knit fabric don’t unravel and there are many people who don’t finish seams.

  • @nursegreene
    @nursegreene 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Love the mitered corner technique---I will definitely use that! Two questions: when making the pockets I noticed you didn't trim the seam allowance when you folded the top over---no bulk issue? (Yours looks so smooth and even!). How do you think this pattern would work in a woven lightweight wool or rayon challis? LOVE THE TUTORIAL! Many thanks!

    • @LiftingPinsandNeedles
      @LiftingPinsandNeedles  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much 😊. The top of the pocket uses a 1” seam allowance, that is what I folded back and top stitched. Pockets of all nature will have a larger seam allowance on the top and a smaller one on the sides. No trimming required. This pattern will not work on a woven fabric, in my opinion. Rarely a project designed for knit fabric will. Even with sizing up, the neckline and armscye will not lay right. Thanks for watching 😊.

      Actually these are the easiest to put together. They are trimless and I’ve never had an issue. The printer need to be set at 100%. I know pdf is not the most popular for those used to printed pattern but it’s the only option for me and I enjoy the process of putting it together as it helps me learn the pattern.
