    This right here is why I say the ravens OL is kind of overrated. Even our vaunted tackles. You know what we call a lot of these huge runs, if it’s anyone other than Lamar Jackson back there? We call them sacks.
    How many sacks are not on the box score for Stanley, brown, Phillips, fluker bc Lamar breaks a big run? Five on each side at least. Maybe double that.

  • @generalbomb1628
    @generalbomb1628 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    The designed runs kill me. Just why do we do them so much and most of them you can clearly tell aren’t as effective because teams know how to defend but yet they do it so predictably. Like can Gro do more play action. There were several 1-2 yard runs in this from designed runs where Lamar had an easy wr open to where he could have thrown to.
    Just look at 0:40. If Boykin is told to sit at the 7. Very quick strike for 6-9 yards on a first down. But instead it’s a designed QB run to where he runs left effectively hurting Lamar’s chance to turn right and throw.
    Scrambling is fine because one it’s fun to watch but Lamar will usually recognize if taking off is better than taking a risk on a very contested pass. But designed runs take all those wrs and make their chance to get the ball 0% from the moment the ball is snapped.
    1:18 here GRO could possibly have Hollywood run an in route so when that LB core moves in Lamar sneaks the ball past them to Hollywood to catch. Instead Boyle gets beat on his block and Lamar gains nothing.
    1:25, watch as how Snead goes forward then left to block a safety on the opposite side of the field to where Lamar runs. Now there is a center safety out of frame but if Snead runs an In route then Lamar has an open option to throw to. Make DEFENSES worry about simple crossing routes and those LBs will be having trouble selling on the run. And if your going to use snead on a block on the left safety. Then let Hollywood try to run a route instead of run blocking, he has a better chance at something running a route and getting the DBs attention instead of him trying to out physical one DB.
    1:32 I just want to point out how frustrating it is for Roman to just tell a receiver to run a go route like Hollywood here is. The DB is playing the softest off coverage. I get a few yards on an out route isn’t much but based on film these defenses know 9/10 it’s a go route based off the formation and how hard Hollywood is running, which will beg for two DBs to cover him in a contested catch so it’s ridiculous to think Lamar will even throw that. On a play like this I would prefer Dobbins running to the outside but I get it’s early on in the year but there’s still no excuse for Gro not to let Hollywood get free yards here with that open space. And if Hollywood’s route running is improved or good enough then he could sell the go route to the DB but cut for an out to get great separation.
    1:54 I like the play design but again it won’t matter if the defense is out to stop the run, you need to make counters on your play formations that involve a passing scenario. Here I would love if Orlando moved up to take the guy Andrew is blocking then Andrew goes to open space on the right if the field. He could get the first down so get close to it and it would put more on film for defenses to worry about so they can’t sell out as much.

      good breakdown, i completely agree. sucks that you were able to get that many examples just from the first 2 minutes lmao

    • @generalbomb1628
      @generalbomb1628 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@joeyt4619 yea at some point I just decided I made my point. GRO needs to get more passing involved in his run formation looks to spice up the offense.
      Some people say the wrs are talented enough to do better and it’s GROs fault. Others say GRO is doing the best with a bad wr group. In all of these plays whether or not the receivers are able to run them or not. If they can’t then the team is failing lamar with wr help. And if they can run them then the coaches are failing lamar with how they are calling these plays.
      Lamar can definitely do better as a QB but as wrs leaving Baltimore display their exits their frustration was far from being for Lamar.
      And even though I only did 2 minutes I think the ravens got better with this as the year went on but still I could have a lot more material to discuss from just a few more minutes on issues I have with GRO, and this video is just runs from Lamar, that doesn’t even discuss poor route execution or run plays for the RBs that fail awkwardly and predictably.

      @@generalbomb1628 if you've seen the breakdowns of our offense (i forgot which one, but one really stood out, may have been kurt warner) our passing schemes are honestly laughable. steve smith sr has even called us out for it. i'm definitely more on the side of it being romans fault, i think our receivers have more talent then they are credited for especially duvernay. and also dez bryant came out and said he "saw first hand what lamar has to deal with." i'm not sure what harbaugh sees in him, tbh.

    Being the biggest LaMarvelous Jackson fan and stand, I thought I'd love this... I don't. The missed wide open receivers are glaring here. 🤷‍♂️
