I repeat what I've said before, that you Valentina get as close as any pianist to my idea of Beethoven's piano sonatas. The joy you've given me is untold. Happy New Year, Valentina, and may you go from strength to strength! Alan
I never see a difference between your practicing and giving a concert. One is as divine as the other. I'd pay good money to see you "practice" ANY day. Much love to you Valentina and thanks for uploading these videos. They are a real treat.
É un piacere ascoltare l'interpretazione di una grandissima pianista, Valentina, ed è un piacere vedere le sue mani danzare sulla tastiera mentre ricreano, come per magia, la sublime musica di Beethoven.
What a superhuman endeavor you've taken on, Valentina. Just yesterday, I started practicing the 3rd mov. of the Tempest Sonata, inspired by your videos these weeks. All this material you're making available here provides immense value to classical music enthusiasts, and to humanity in general.
Brilliant. internet age. she's putting as many great works out, no middle men record co stopping her, and at a high level of excellence and q often with appealing clips - she's building a body of work already unique
@Konstantin Ridaya i was meaning that it will be more easier for her in the fact that It's more quicker and she can enjoy that someone is making effort to talk to her. I don't say that without any deep thought. I saw many of her speech with her fans and she have most of the time an interpreter with her. That's why i say that. You see i'm french and I'm learning english so i can make sometimes some mistakes. We can't be perfect as hell in this case.
She's an ANGEL, a Gift form God to The World and to me, and She's The Best... EVER!!! When I was young I used to hear renditions on Wilhelm Backhaus, Clara Haskil, Myra Hess, Claudio Arrau; later on, I listen Martha Argerich, Wilhelm Kempff, Sviatoslav Richter, among other amazing musicians... But VALENTINA... She´s DIVINE!!!
Ohhh Val ,, What for heaven's sake are doing to us,, You know, I have almost all your recordings on TH-cam, since you've started it (Rachmaninoff's Etude Op.39 No. 6. "little red riding hood" that introduced you to us, you were a teen by then), and then your performances kept going on, including your Beethoven's few Sonatas you had performed,, But your mean project of Beethoven's 32 sonatas, is absolutely beyond believing, you've made an incredible leap in your performance Val, especially in those of Beethoven's, What did you do to make such imaginary progress .!? I've never heard Beethoven interpreted like this before, ever.!! This Beethoven's project you are executing on TH-cam in the time being, is by all means going to be a Historical Musical Event, truly it is, and you’ll see,, I wish if you would imagine how much you are appreciated and BELOVED from your audience Val,, God bless you dear, you are a gift from heavens.
As I've mentioned before, Valentina deserves full credit for bringing these early sonatas to the fore as they continue to be unjustly overlooked by major pianists on the international circuit. An illuminating and magnificent performance as usual. Largo co gran espressione: music can only exist in relation to silence No composer (imho) has explored this relationship so revealingly as Beethoven. In this movement the pauses are as eloquent as the chordal progressions. The musical idea is so simple yet so utterly profound, not unlike the Andante con moto from the Appassionata. It is even more prophetic to understand this in the light of the malady that was befall him. Remember, this was written in 1796 before the onset of his deafness.
Was antisipating this all week, and it was delivered. Especially loved the second movement with tons of emotion, felt as if it was representing a controlled chaos-life that is-with the ups and downs we all face. Which Beethoven was subjected to all to often, but I guess that’s also why he wrote such moving music with loads of tension.
The dedication this must take just absolutely boggles my mind. You are literally one with the piano. Your memory is incredible, if not photographic. Always look forward to watching/hearing you play! :-D
I told her I hoped for a Beethoven project after her Rach London Symphony recording and she said she only had one house to mortgage :-D I am so happy she found a way to get it done. Wonderful! Decca, how about a fresh cycle of the concertos? Would love it as much as the Rach set for sure!
You are the only pianist that really captivates me. Simply astonishing. My first love with the piano, as a young child, was Borge Rosenbaum. Better known as Victor Borge with his comedy act. I'm glad this journey has brought me to you. :) Thank you.
I'd love to know what she was thinking somewhere around the 19:53 minute mark. Beautiful expressions and music...almost makes me believe in love again.
So is she making a recording (cd, electronic, or a video of all 32 sonatas)? If so regardless of the media it is an impressive piece of work which I will want to buy. Also think of the genius of Beethoven making these over 200 years ago. I marvel at how enormous the effort was over those years and the drive to create. We in modern society forget the amount of effort composers spent in creating timeless work. Hats off to their work, and to the modern muscians, orchestras and conductors that keep these works alive today.
One musical bar,one musical bar is back. I feel that Beethoven has come down from heaven. Thank you for the wonderful performance😍💐 一小節,一小節がよみがえる.ベートーベンが天から降りて来られた様に感動する.素晴らしい演奏を有り難うございます🍀
Valentina Lisitsa's way of playing Beethoven is unique: an energy, a freedom, an invention and a knowledge as if the music was emerging from her hands at that moment for the first time. Always under great control, however. It almost seems like a case of metempsychosis!
I love Beethoven sonatas very very much (specially with your performance🙂) I listen to them while I am doing my school homeworks. Thank you very much because if it weren't for your videos, I wouldn't be able to do my homeworks easily😁 I also wake up with them in the morning (They are my ringtone). And I sometimes listen to them before I go to bed too😅
Beautiful, awesome interpretation as always 👏👏👏 and talking about the work of recording the Beethoven's Sonatas is a monumental work and a legacy. By the way i almost forget the Bosendorfer... With the sound of this Steinway
So musical! Also a good sound for Beethoven. I grew up with Perahia in this but it's always great hearing her depth in Beethoven. Her Chopin attracted me decades ago. She's become a greater mature player!
Valentina I've already written about sonata 3: love your tempo which is the perfect one and Beethoven chose it, no doubt "con brio". This "Solo Sonata" excellent in your playing. Thanks Valentina!!
So many admittedly wonderful performances of these sonatas are rendered in a more Haydnesque manner. Here Valentina gives us the irascible storming Beethoven in an intense rhapsodic way and yet filled with all manner of subtleties made possible by her prodigious technique and musicality. What she is doing here is not only wondrous for the listener but actually important in terms of performance history. This set of sonatas will not be just one more set but of a higher significance if we go by what she has given us so far. As to speed and timings in the best performances time just disappears as one is held rapt
Followed by him accidentally falling in love, then awkward yearning, heartbreak, but on the plus side: He'd write a new sonata to express it! :D It worked like ten other times for him.
A sentiment that I fully endorse. A pianist of some considerable standing and repute yourself. However, may I respectfully request that when posting comments that the temptation to mangle the English language with figures of speech is resisted...please! "gonna" is not a word. I assume what is meant is "is it going to be"

Absolute perfection.. She understands the composers , rest notes, rythms, flow, tempo, time in a way that cant be properly written down on paper.
I never see a difference between your practicing and giving a concert. One is as divine as the other.
I'd pay good money to see you "practice" ANY day.
Much love to you Valentina and thanks for uploading these videos. They are a real treat.
I love the way she seems to be having so much fun!!! Always so natural and original. Absolutely perfect ❤
É un piacere ascoltare l'interpretazione di una grandissima pianista, Valentina, ed è un piacere vedere le sue mani danzare sulla tastiera mentre ricreano, come per magia, la sublime musica di Beethoven.
Valentina embodies a mixture of joy, competence and dedication. Beethoven would love to hear her play his works.
I. Allegro molto e con brio 0:00
II. Largo, con gran espressione 6:51
III. Allegro 15:54
IV. Rondo: Poco allegretto e grazioso 20:42
In my opinion you’re the best who can play Beethoven’s music. The way you play is exactly how Beethoven would have intended his music to be played.
Do you think there was anyone who could do this for him? We get to hear this for free. I feel guilty...ok with that.
Прекрасно! Наконец-то я услышал 1-ю часть в настоящем темпе! Обычно пианисты не рискуют и берут темп "с запасом"))) Спасибо! Прекрасная соната!
I always thought that women can't play Beethoven, but mrs. lisitsa changed my mind.Bravo.

Valentina!
You are one thing with the piano.
Beauty will save the world.

Благодарим Валентина за потрясающее исполнение!
Finally, Beethoven can hear his music through his eye. Valentina's visual performance is amazing!

Valentina often plays a Bösendorfer. It might be hers.
She's playing a Steinway in this one.
I love this sonata. She does a marvelous job on it.
Was antisipating this all week, and it was delivered. Especially loved the second movement with tons of emotion, felt as if it was representing a controlled chaos-life
that is-with the ups and downs we all face. Which Beethoven was subjected to all to often, but I guess that’s also why he wrote such moving music with loads of tension.
She looks like she's having the time of her life playing that first movement.
What I love about her In Rachmaninoff's opus she bounces to the rhythm (R$achmaninoff is hard!). She has fun
That's probably my single favorite movement of the Beethoven sonatas partly because it looks like it would be so fun to play
Deluxe Clavier it is very difficult but after you get past the technical aspect it is very fun
Большое спасибо за этот музыкальный момент, вкусный как шоколадный эклер! Я не могу перестать слушать вас! Вы не должен так нас баловать! 💝🌹🌹🌹

So uplifting in these dark times. Thank you, Valentina! 🌹🌹🌹
I like the chromatic "bumpity, bumpity, bumpity" thematic idea & the lovely closing theme of the 1st!
Breathtaking as always. One of the top world-class pianists, if not the best!!

I think she is one of the best of classical pianist since Van Cliburn. Look at her arms & her spider fingers. I love her playing.
This is sounding great, Valentina!
This sonata reminds me of violin sonata Kreutzer. How lovely! I always love her Beethoven interpretation.
