I just finished slowly reading through the Beethoven sonatas, and listening to most afterwards. I’ve concluded that this is my favorite Beethoven sonata.
Wherever you are, Valentina, stay safe. I'm 80 so it doesn't matter much for me, but for you and the younger ones, including my family, it matters a lot.
In spite of the fact that I never played the piano , but for fifty years while I am listening to music I never heard such miraculous playing as of Valentina. The smoth running on fingers on the key , the posture and the playful smile on the pretty face . Thank you my dear you are the light for the people now and forever .
One of my favorite Beethoven Sonata. Not one of Beethovens ‘greatest hits’ but an incedible beautiful sonata full of emotions and beautiful moments. Thanks Valentina
Ronny Muller When listening to Beethoven’s sonatas in order, I get the impression that Beethoven was fulfilling a fundamental need to compose this one just after the Moonlight not because he was experimenting with sounds that would turn up later in the Sixth Symphony, but because he needed a sonata with as little eccentricity as possible after Opp. 26 and 27. He didn’t know that it would prove to be a world too pristine for virtually all his remaining piano sonatas. It certainly has its importance in the cycle as a beautiful moment of reassurance.
I have never heard Beethoven played like this before. Valentina has just created a whole stable of also-rans. This is a whole new depth of understanding and interpretation of his music. Wow!
Sitting in a lockdown for the Covid 19 virus I love listening to your interpretation of Beethoven, today it is Easter, a day of Hope that once this virus will be gone. I pray for it.
Bravo. I love this sonata. I went for many years paying little attention to it and suddenly discovered it about twenty years ago and worked on it myself for a while. It's always great to hear it played by someone who really knows how.
I think your videos are literally the only ones I could watch without sound and still have a blast. Alone visually they are so calming, pleasant and dazzling.
Valentina I love witnessing a true professional dedicated to her lifes work. I feel that you show us greatness through the spirit of the human being. Through your work.. . .
Love every one of Lou's sonatas, and laud the supreme depth of interpretation you put into each piece you play. Hope you are staying well, safe and sane! Thank you for this 23-minute holiday from scary pandemic. : )
Wonderful, Val, as always. Many years ago, my brother arranged this for oboe (which I played then) with piano accompaniment (he played the piano - he was taking music classes in college then). It works pretty good for that; probably would for violin too. The 1st mvmt has kind of a back & forth dialog that works well for a dual instrument sonata. I have very fond memories of playing that with my brother for our parents, family and guests. As well as listening to my brother play this and other B's sonatas by himself (serene). That was SO many, many years ago! What wonderful times; sad that I can't go back to really appreciate them as much as I should have (didn't know how fleeting such wonderment & beauty is). ... Your impeccable & wonderful playing helps me re-live all of that again. Thanks Val for bringing back that wonderful memory.
Valentina, thank you for playing all of beethoven sonatas you are fulfilling my dream. But I have another dream that you play liszt Transcriptions of beethoven symphonys.
Brava !! 👏🏼 Artist !! What a transition piece between sitting in the classical and more romantic period. I adore your wonderful phrasing and classical touches in the second movement. And this is such a gem of a Beethoven sonata. So lyrical and "pastoral" with wonderful moments of virtuosity, like that firecracker closing! 🎆
I learned this myself before hearing any professional pianists play it, and it was one of my favourites. I had no idea of how a gifted pianist could play it, like someone who'd purchased a top end car but never learned how it could handle the turnpikes.
I absolutely adore your passion for the piano. I completely understand the time, effort and sacrifice that you have put in to it. I to am a pianist, but I am also a person that plays multiple instruments. I serve many masters and can't commit to one. You do the world justice in what you do.
Thank you Val for spending many hours perfecting this so we might glimpse heaven for 22 minutes. All the best from Sakuntala Basu, listening from India
Valentina Lisitsa is helping us rediscover the genius of Beethoven in these Sonatas, more so, she's actually bringing Beethoven back to life, only a great pianist like her can do that!
This woman is performing an Olympic level athletic feat. Intense, isolated, muscular control for the length of an entire television episode! Beyond badass.
I wonder if Valentina listened to Andreas Schiff’s lectures on Beethoven piano sonatas before recording them. The lectures are magnificient and help to better understand Beethoven, and Valentina plays them exactly as they should be played! You can see her love for the composer present! Fabulous job!
Dear Valentina, Thank you for this dream-come-true project and for all these years you simply share the best performances with us. I would like to ask, if it is possible for you to give us very small description for some sonatas which have particular meaning and are named in different ways. It would be great to understand insights better. Thank you very much.

One of my favorites too of Beethoven’s. The first theme in the first movement is the classical version of Eric Clapton’s Layla.

Thank You ♥

Thank you. How do you tell the differences between different movements?
Yaotian Zhang there are two main options. The first is orally. And second is being familiar with the piece.
I have never heard Beethoven played like this before. Valentina has just created a whole stable of also-rans. This is a whole new depth of understanding and interpretation of his music. Wow!
Another day, but a great blessing from Miss. Lisitsa allows it to be less grim. Thank you.
Valentina: as usual the really perfect "tempo" in all movements. You are my queen playing what ever and this pastoral as I were in Heaven!!!
God bless you Valentina. We need your artistry to help lift our spirits these days. Thanks so much.
Sitting in a lockdown for the Covid 19 virus I love listening to your interpretation of Beethoven, today it is Easter, a day of Hope that once this virus will be gone. I pray for it.
Are you still there? 😊
Valentina, you're an angel! The maestro must be proud! Be strong my darling.
Bravo. I love this sonata. I went for many years paying little attention to it and suddenly discovered it about twenty years ago and worked on it myself for a while. It's always great to hear it played by someone who really knows how.
This is the way I want to wake up to Beautiful Music

Valentina, you just give and give like no other. Thank you so so much.
The first bars of this sonata reminds me of a beautiful morning in a countryside.
Love this Sonata, Beethoven loved nature and drew lots of inspiration from it! Thank you Valentina ❤️ be safe from a loyal 🇨🇦 fan!!!
The nickname for this sonata may not have come from Beethoven, it was most likely the publisher just giving it a name.
Magnifique ! Bravo Valentina. Encore !!!
Wonderful performance, great project, wish you lots of energy for the hole project, we’re looking forward to every sonata!
Valentina ... those left had staccato chords in the beginning of the song (2 minute range) are so thoughtfully placed !
Very sweet. Thank you for cheering me up. From New Zealand.
