    Around 1999, in Hungary, I met a Swedish guy in a Budapest youth hostel. John Dolves. He was from Ljusdal. I remember he made some jokes about the passport controller on his train en route to central Europe. Never thought he is from such a beautiful area!

    Gillar verkligen de här långa filmerna med långa sträckor. Skulle vilja se Stockholm-Malmö och även långa sträckor upop i norrland ... kiruna och upp hade varit grymt intressant. Tänk också på att ni kan filma samma rutter ni redan gjort också. Vinter, vår, sommar och höst gör att landskapet förändras och samma resa kan bli intressant för att se hur Sverige förändras under årstiderna. Grym kanal! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

    The fantastic video containing everything you need for an outstanding driving experience: wide view of the landscape, clear picture, beautiful autumn colours of the landscape, futuristic urban civil engineering (Uppsala), the large expanse of Sweden, ecologically preserved nature, landscaped railway infrastructure, accompanying information about the railway route, everything is simply done professionally and carefully so that everyone can enjoy the experience as a participant. Congratulations. Best regards from Belgrade, Serbia. Žika 👍👌🚅

    This was a great ride. I am planning on trying to get some videos up on TH-cam. I am NOT the professional most of you are and I am NOT a train driver. Just outside Lingbot I noticed a little yellow vehicle passing your train. Wondering if it is some sort of Line checker? Saw a few diverting lines especially to and from Ocklebo can you tell me where they were going to, or coming from? Was thinking not many trains passing us until we got closer to the last bit of the video and so many trains I wondered where they were all going? All over the place, I guess. Thanks again. Look forward to more. Noticed most of the trains were beautifully painted. Lastly what time of year? I thought Winter as day seemed a lot shorter than some other videos that were bright and sunny even at 10pm at n right?

    On most trains in the USA, the driver sits in the rear of the engine. After watching these videos, I now can answer why. If you were in a head on collision, where would you rather be. LOL

    • @zaphr89
      @zaphr89 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      European trains are (as far as I know) designed a bit differently. They are usually meant to protect the driver in case of a collision with road vehicles at level crossings and to protect driver/passengers in case of derailments (the train cars are intended to stay upright). For train-train collisions the philosophy is one of avoidance with in-cab signaling and what in the US would be called "positive train control". This philosophy allow European passenger trains to be lighter than their US counterparts. The Acela Express, for example, is almost 50% heavier than most European passenger trains (a bit less compared to double decker cars) per car.
      The Swedish system is called ATC and it will not allow the train to travel faster than 9 km/h above the current speed limit and if the driver does not decelerate in time before a red signal or a speed reduction the train automatically brakes. With this system there has not been a serious train accident in Sweden since 1987 when two trains collided at high speed in Lerum outside Göteborg, although there are still a few fatal accidents every year where trains hit cars at level crossings.

      @@zaphr89 Most of my family was in the rail business. My Paternal grandfather was a salesman for one of the lines in the US and travelled the world, laying out road beds and setting up the trains and I hear, even riding on the ships that delivered them to various countries. I know he sold a big line to India, before I was born. My fraternal grandfather worked on the Rock Island Line out of Rockford. And his wife, my grandmother, was killed at a train crossing, her third train car mishap. One of my second cousins lost a leg while working the line. So I have a long history with trains, and I have always loved them. Never was in it myself tho.

    Vad betyder skylten som är triangel med tre orangea lampor i som brukar blinka? När tåget kör förbi lyser alla lampor med fast ljus. Men annars brukar dem blinka i lugn takt. Nyfiken på den ...😁😁

    • @SwedishRailcam
      @SwedishRailcam  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lite förenklat kan man säga att den visar, med fast sken, att kommande vägövergång är säker (varnar biltrafikanter och att bommarna gått ner om sådana finns). Vid själva övergången sitter en lampa som i normalfallet är röd men som blir vit vid samma tillfälle som den andra lyser fast
