I've fished "dry fly" salmon flies deep nymphing all the time. I usually catch more fish and bigger fish, too. I started doing this on the Dechutes back in the 80-90s when it had fish. haha! Like Jyp says below, fishing large dries using nymphing techniques is an old school trick for sure. I'm always amazed when the new "kids" on the river see this and wonder what the heck I am doing. I'll try your pattern next season. Thanks for the post.
