Don't forget that the Roccbox does have a wood option - but you have to purchase it separately, about $100. I have a Roccbox. I do love it. But I have two issues: as you said, the stone in the Roccbox is not removeable. So if it should crack - which can happen - it is not easily replaced because the front is rivetted on, not screwed. Second, in gusty/windy conditions - depending on which way the oven is facing, the Roccbox flame when using the gas option can blow out. So be wary of that. But you just adjust the position a little bit and you're fine. Thanks for posting.
You can totally just use the inbuilt and is pretty good. But if you want to get serious the thermometer is important to have very accurate reading of the stone
Yes, I agree. Any grill that has a thermometer gives you an estimation of what the temperature is. They are not going to be very accurate. If you want to really be accurate, you might as well get the infrared gun and you can find those things for around 20 to 40 bucks for a decent one 👍
Thanks for the amazing video! Your surroundings look beautiful btw- I'm guessing you're in the heart of Italy, maybe tuscany? Sending the best wishes from Vienna.
I'm curious if you can explain why and most reviews the gozney takes longer to heat up then ooni? Gozney is supposed to have thick insulation so you would think that would heat up a lot faster. Have you noticed one of them getting up to temperature faster than the other? And I'm curious because I'm in the market for one of these and I don't know which one to get. Do you have to cook at those high blistering temperatures? Mike, it says that it can get up to 930°, but do you need that kind of temperature? What if we're running around 600°? Would that get the job done? Just take a little bit longer? It just seems like if you're running a 900° oven, your pizza can turn into a burnt mess in a very short period of time
Great question: I find the roccbox takes marginally less than the Ooni who is more affected by the type of wood you are using, some higher density burns hotter than others. When you use gas on Ooni and the weather is mild i would say the difference is negligible. When is very cold i prefer the roccbox exactly because of the extra insulation. Regarding cooking temp it depends what style of pizza you are making. Napolitan is cooked at those blistering temps. Roman style is cooked for longer and lower temp. So to answer yes you can cook at different temps and will yield you a different product, so play around and find what you like best. If you decide purchasing pls consider using one of my affiliate links..same price for you but i get a kickback which allows me to continue making videos. thanks for watching!
If you are going to have your title “Is Ooni Karl 12 better than Roccbox’, Have the guts to actually pick one. I can’t believe I wasted ten minutes of my time for a head shrug.
I'm sorry you did not understand the points I was trying to convey. They are clearly very different ovens so I personally prefer the Roccbox but there are positives to be said for the Ooni too and in the video i tried to showcase at best the positives and negatives of each so you can make an educated decision.
I guess I understand both sides here. You don't want to completely throw shade at one product when it obviously is good too. But if you're going to do a head-to-head comparison like this at the end of the day, let us know what you think is the better oven. But I don't think I wasted 10 minutes watching this video. You gave us a lot of information so thank you
@@MrScubajsb i think better oven is always relative to what you want to achieve which is the point i was trying to make. For me who has a family of 4 and when i make pizzas i usually invite friends and end up making about 10 pizza i find the roccbox a better fit.
@@GetCooking thanks for the reply and you also answered one of my other questions about how long a propane tank would last. That sounds like you can use it quite a few times before you need to get more fuel. I'm wondering if the wood option is even worth messing with since it is something that you have to babysit more and will produce a lot more cleanup? Do you prefer the propane?

I’ve been doing my research, mainly on the Ooni models, but now, this review kinda tells me the Gozney is the one. Thanks for an experienced review.😀
Glad you found it useful. I have ordered the gas attachment for the Karu so curious to try that out too
Around 14:40 you talk about the Gozney needing an inferred gun. Could you use the built in thermometer? Or you need both ?

@@GetCooking thank you again! 👍
The Roccbox has an optional wood burner so it is equivalent to the Ooni Karu on that front.
@Queenshore is it? From experience with the roccbox and wood burner? Curious. Thanks.
Compare both gas or both wood. Doesn’t sound like you are bothered with useing wood.
Why is your gas line red
it is a microwave at 1000w - time you need to experiment but between 2-5mins depends on the microwave
So the rocboxx is better..
Why
@@wiktorbraun7789 did you watch the video?
