My Border Terrier Rosie doesn't have a high prey drive and only occasionally digs in the garden. She is very smart and loving. Border's are not as full on as a Jack Russell and love to be with you. They must be well socialised so they don't become reactive. All in all they are a great dog and have a wonderful character!
Border terriers are the sweetest little things, I wish they were more popular because they're one of the easiest and best breeds to take care for, my family has 7 of these gorgeous cuties and we breed and show them and honestly they're the most amazing little firecrackers😊💜
I miss Tasha my Border Terrier....I know everyone says this about their dog. But Tasha was the smartest, best dog I have ever met. She was literally like a human, We would just talk to her normally, and she would listen. Rarely see Border Terriers here in Canada. RIP Tasha!
I once watched my friends 3 boarder terriers absolutely destroy a huge rottweiler! The rottweiler owner was told to keep his big dog away from the little terriers, rottweiler owner laughed.....until the reality of having 3 working dogs tear the rottweiler apart dawned on him!
I've never met a Border Terrier in person, but based on appearance I think they're much cuter than other Terrier breeds like Yorkshire and Cairn, that are more popular in the U.S.
I bought a rescue puppy, and they said he was a terrier mix because the mom was rescued while pregnant and they don't know who the dad is. However, everything about him is just like the border terrier. I'm so glad to see this video and know that is what most likely the majority of his breeding is. He is a very sweet dog, full of energy, doesn't shed and hardly barks.

They are best buddies not pets. They love being 'with the boys'. Stong and tough. Mickey climbed Mt Snowdon twice and did a 45 mile camping hike in Cornwall over three days. Wonderful dogs but don't like being alone.

My border is a BARKER not a digger lazy sleeps for 10 hour a nite not, including daytime sleeps. She is 15 in June. She pees a lot of age related, loves children was a ratter in her younger days. Very intelligent. !!.
My Dillan has been with me since soon after leaving hospital.He has helped me recover and is soo patient with my slow movement and limited energy. He can run the slowest I have ever seen…just out of my reach lol. He is the best of friends.

Mine is bunkers ,ever since we got him and only got worse ,he’s now 10 years old 😍 he hates other dogs ,loves children,and is absolutely adorable 🥰 called castle and he truly believes he is the king of his castle,which he is ,just wish I could take him out for a walk without him attacking other dogs .
That’s a pity. Has he been neutered? My boy will fight if the other dog starts anything. It’s all a part of the terrier, their feisty temperament. Yours is probably too old to try and change his attitude.
@@christinesparrow5574 hi sorry for not replying sooner ,Castle was attacked 3 times from 3 staffs that were Aggressive,last one badly on the throat within the 1st year at 2 different parks 2 while he was on the lead , as he grew up he had terrible problem and had one to one trainers ,then sent away for doggie in house kennel training were even the trainer said he has a huge Phobia on other dogs and attacks first ,but we held on to him ,we’re a Fostering Family and are used to working with trauma so have got used the situation,and Castle has been an unbelievable benefit to our fostered children that we all appreciate and love him for.

Sorry I disliked your comment. I just didn't like the part when your border died. Anyways I have 1 myself and yes they r a gem 💎. My Border's name is Benji when I found him he was being abused and not fed. So I stole him and I love him, he kinda adopted me. I never knew what a Border terrier was till got him. I'd say they r the best breed. He has taught me alot.
My Border Terrier is nearly 10 years old. He has seizures and shakes so he is on a very good gluten and grain free diet. The vet says that despite his ‘Spike’s Disease” he is a very healthy dog. Strong heart strong lungs. He weighs 10kg and get lots of exercise. He is fussy with food sometimes and is very excitable and then has to have lots of naps. We sometimes have to speak in code because he’s figured it all out! He’s had to have a few teeth out recently and we brush them 3 times a week as instructed by the vet. He puts up with it though. He’s beautiful and funny and cheeky and naughty. He’s kind to other dogs and tolerates puppies very well. He likes to make everywhere his bed and sleeps sideways so that you have nowhere to put your feet 🐶🌹🥰 The most charismatic breed. He’s an Adonis to be honest. Very Handsome with great muscles
You lucky thing. I wish someone would gift me another one. It’s important to start his training as soon as you get him. Once you have taught him basic manners you can start serious training. These little dogs are very intelligent and respond well to obstacle courses. It will be a huge amount of fun and when you work with your BT you build up a tremendous bond and then start looking at getting him a companion. 2 Border Terriers are more than twice the fun as 1. Don’t leave it too long to get him a companion. Preferably, at about 6 months old, certainly no older. The older they get the less likely they will bond with each other.
Have you fallen deeply in love with him yet? It’s always best to get two puppies at roughly the same time, this give your BT even more even more incentive to get into glorious rough and tumble with a fellow dog. Unfortunately, it also adds some competition when they are hunting. If one of them shows that he is on the trail of something the other one just has to join in the fun. I would li e a whole pack of these nutcases.
The Dandy Dinmot and the Piedmont is the cross breed border terrier, kennel 1834 I think? Best kept between 10 and 11 kilos according to bone density. Main anomaly is to do with the upper gut which can cause foid allergies, they act best on a light diet , we feed 3 small meals a day and one larger feed. A few treat biscuits for their teeth, a few home cooked fresh veg for their bowels. Not that good at call back , isn't always readable around strange dogs. Loves people and gentle animal friendly kids
We have two five-year old siblings. Both are adorable and our best buddies. They hate other dogs and will attack them. The male is lazy and wants nothing but cuddling, eating and yes, walking. He is possessive and very sentimental with his mistress. The female is a hunter, she is playful and very energetic. She is very applied and in love with her master.
We adopted a pup who was a stray found with her mom and sister. She was listed as a Border Terrier mix--her face is a carbon copy of the dog at the beginning of the video but she has really long legs. I have had dogs all of my life but never a terrier. She is something special and I can't imagine life without her. I need her to live to about 30:-)

But yes they will go in the garden for pp no problem 😀 and they get at least 4 walks a day duration depends on the weather here as summer is very hot , they don’t like a bath either !! How’s scruffy with a bath ?
Not reached the ring popularity of other Terrriers??? I judged Crufts 2020 and had 258 dog entered.....not popular??? They are regularly the second largest breed at general Championship Dog Show in the UK!!
My Border Terrier is cheeky, cunning, sneaky and impossibly loving oh yes, he also loves nothing better than digging out rabbits, rats feral cats, Ferrets, stouts, polecats, possums and pigs and killing them. I had two BT girls prior to him and their character was somewhat different - they liked killing chickens, my chickens.
Border Terriers were bred to hunt pests and a lot of these pests had to be dug out of their burrows. Luckily we live in a very rural spot and the local farmers have no objection to my boys killing rabbits and other pests. In spite of their hunting compulsion I would have more of these wonderful, funny dogs.

more than likely it has an allergy. What you describe is a classic response. There is a drug that works wonders called Apoquel. It's important to treat bcs continued licking can create what is called a granuloma on the skin surface, It is a thickening of skin that will ALWAYS be itchy which is difficult to watch for there is no remedy.

They will fight a fully grown fox. In their breeding. Tough as old boots but so friendly and gentle. Big dog in a tiny body.

My 13 year old Molly is the most amazing calm dog I love her so much and we now have a 13 week old puppy also a border 😊

Oh dear I’m thinking of getting one. It’s a yorkie cross border terrier. I’m viewing a little boy on Saturday! I had a Yorkshire previously a girl.
