It’s a matter of how you use it. Our son built a template that took him from 3.42 GPA to straight-A’s. It supports now him with audio-text capture and GPT summaries, and reciew/reinforcement workflow, Ask. AI front ends it, and he created his own Flash-cards generator in Notion. Also of great value to him, since he is busy with simultaneous work and other things- it saves him almost 10 hours a week on studies.
I went to and graduated from a few top-5 Universities and have been a researcher for decades, and all I can say is that it is obvious why you didn’t provide any “better” alternative- it is easy to critique anything, but you obviously have no “better” recommendation to offer,

I'm currently (year 12) trying to change my study process (reason: fine grades but barely free time and overly stressed). The first thing I "tripped over" during my research was Notion and I thought it would be good to organize my To Dos and make study plans.

    • @olivia.charlene
      @olivia.charlene ปีที่แล้ว

@@stefi_2774 I don't know, it definitely takes less effort than Notion. I think OneNote has a great organization system itself (the notebooks, sections and pages). It's very easy to use.
If you want to use it for studying I suggest to create a notebook "year 23/24" for example. Then you add your courses as sections. Let's say "chemistry", "physics" and "literature". I then made pages for each topic. For "physics" it might me "atomic models", "quantum physics" and "radioactivity". For every lesson or headline I then added subpages, e.g. "protons and neutrons", "Rutherfords" experiment" and "quarks" for atomic models.
If you want to use one notebook forseveral school years you easily can change the name to something like "highschool" and group the sections of each year together.
A great thing I learned was that notes itself don't have to be beautiful, instead they should be practical. I knew many people who put hours into stlying their notes but in the end didn't know the contents of it. But still, some memorized it making their notes insta-worthy.
I hope I could help you a little bit. I might have to add that I use a Microsoft Surface (Tablet and Notebook as 1 device). The pen is great for taking hand written notes. It has so many functions!

When saying stuff like that it‘s important to say why you got to this conclusions. Notion on its own is all or nothing, you make it work. It also depends on what you need as a person. I need Notion to process my mental processes and you maybe don‘t such external support systems.
I just think it’s important to put emphasis, that it’s personal and it can be overrated for you, but an absolute necessity for someone else.

While this method may work for some, it proved to be a time-consuming ordeal for me, especially when dealing with subjects like mathematics, chemistry, physics, and computer science. Notion seemed ill-suited for equation-heavy courses, although it may be more suitable for content-based ones.

Notion is good for if you are a type of person that loves tracking things, if it is outside of tracking things. You need to figure what app to use that isn't notion and why you use it. I personally use notion for tracking, but I use onenote for note taking because I am a university student. You have 15 weeks per semester. I need convenience for note taking then the modern way of pencil and paper to write notes. There's so much going on, and so little of time.

I feel like what you said was pretty broad, like, for note taking and the like I’d 100% agree that it’s not made for this at all. But for things like getting organized, creating to-do lists, setting up goals and deadlines, basically using it like your planner, in my opinion, it’s amazing. I’ve seen a lot of successful people who organize their studies all through notion

"Using Notion in a minimalist way is key to achieving happy productivity. It’s all about focusing on what truly matters without getting overwhelmed by the tool itself. Productivity shouldn't be about obsessing over organizing tasks-it’s about simplifying your workflow to stay efficient and stress-free. Less is more!"

I’m not agree, Notion is incredible for studying in the way you can create links between different courses with relations and roll-ups for example. Moreover, you can categorize, store information in an intelligent way with databases and link with different platforms to visualize your data’s differently. It’s very intuitive and seems to work well with the human brain with the way it works.
I would say, it’s better than Word, PowerPoint or Excel.

Sure it's a calming notion, perpetual in motion
But I don't need the comfort of any lies
For I have seen the ending and there is no ascending
    Rise
Oh, back when I was younger, was told by other youngsters
That my end will be torture beneath the earth
'Cause I don't see what they see, when death is staring at me
I see a window, a limit, to live it, or not at all
If you could pull the lever to carry on forever
Would your life even matter anymore?
Sure it's a calming notion, perpetual in motion
But it's not what you signed up for
I'm sure there won't always be sunshine
But there's this momentary beam of light
You don't have to wait those salty decades
To get through the gate, it's all in front of your face
I'm sure there won't always be sunshine
I'm sure there won't always be sunshine
But there's this momentary beam of light
I could cross the ocean in a fit of devotion
For every shining second, this fragile body beckons
You think you're owed it better believing ancient letters
