If I understand this correctly, cost of change is somewhat influenced by opportunity cost, right? One invests a little more time (that could be spent resting) than is currently needed in order to achieve a level of skill that is required at a later point, thus actually saving more time in the long term by not having to invest the cost of change multiple times.
