Hubert Ogunde, Multitalented a Phenomenal Visionary who educated the West on the depths , beauty, and complexity of Africa and particularly the Yoruba, he is a National Hero, and an International Cultural Ambassador of the Highest Order.
I love all baba ogunde songs. I bought the complete box set of the songs. I watch his films in cinema while growing up in ibadan with my mum. Good old memories.
These all make me sympathetic to the calls for ODUDUWA REPUBLIC. There needs to be a museum where all of these laudable ancestors will be memorialized. Thank you for posting these online. Back to memory lane!!!
Hmn...Baba was a great philosopher and highly gifted . I wonder how he thought and composed those songs . This song truly depict Lagos characteristics and other urban cities life..
thanks egba alake for bringing this drama and music impresario, Chief Hubert Ogunde live again. Ogunde was a giant and pioneer of television drama giant in the south west Nigeria. I remember the Ogunde Show, that weekly television top of the draw programme that usually drew people from the streets during airing by the wntv and later ntv. His films: Aye, Jayesinmi were box office hits that could fetch him billions by today's standard
Mr Ogunkanmi,it was not even west africa.Africa in general. If am right,is film was the first on celluloid in africa. As small n young I was in the late 70s/80s early, music like papa ogunde, sir Alex tunde nightingale, ayinde bakare, kayode fashola, suberu oje,etc are the type of music I listened to till today.why?bcos of what they preach ,which are things happening now.like really past then, things were better off?hell no,all the heals started back then and this are what all this great legends were pointing out.
R.I.P toward Hubert Ogunde's team because theatrical shows are good still today and it was shown during African drum's show festival in Abeokuta Ogun-state Capital in 2017 this year and it's a big thank you toward his team. Sule Shangodoyin.
What are we talking about, this is a real music compare with today hulahbalistic music or noise.frag ,rubbish and poisonistic nowadays noise called music.
Please attempt a conversion of the film tapes into Videotapes . It will make good revenue for the maintenance of the company, hence keeping alive the excellent memories of the late Sage.
What are they saying [singing] in the refrain/chorus ....awa mi re ko [we are going to Lagos] X2 eye [birds?] nlure, awe mi reko ye, eye lure osere? or is it ijebu dialect, or odu ifa? listen to 4.30- 4.45 mins
