Mark*, your videos are seriously a treasure for beginner/novice bass players like myself. The way you explain things is so straight forwardly simple, and done in a way that makes the learner want to pause the video and mess around with the concept for an hour or so before resuming because it "clicks" in their head. Thank you. Thank you a thousand times over.
Are you wanting to learn Jazz Harmony? I'd advise starting over at www.talkingbass.net. Go to the Lesson map and work through the Music Theory For Bass series of lessons. That should give you a good start and you'll be able to understand this stuff a lot better. I have an Applied Theory & Harmony course in the works at the moment. It should be out within a few months hopefully. That should help.
+Josue Gomes I'm just a regular old journeyman professional bass player. It's usually sideman and session work so it's very rare you see me in bands on things like TH-cam (haven't played in one steady band for quite a while) You could find me playing in a variety of different theater shows, function bands, backing various touring acts, cruise lines, studio work etc. etc. The standard stuff that pays the bills. Mostly reading gigs. I also do more teaching these days since having kids.
At 3:52 ,from 9 to 11 how do you put a third because a 9th is a d..and 11th is Gb which is out of scale..or i just put it like that ? because i cant see clearly which note you playing when you reach there.otherwise the lesson s superclear

What kind of strap is being used in this video? It seems to have a nice balance of length and comfort.
Neotech

a beginner will not find this simple. this video is concise, but not simple
Yeah it’s not really for absolute beginners. It’s a simplification of extended chords. That doesn’t mean it’s simple.
