I have never, ever seen a video targeted at bottom-heavy faces. It's so frustrating only finding advice for "round" faces that doesn't really apply to me. I've always figured my face shape must be pretty abnormal and have been planning on cosmetic surgery. Thank you so much. Your channel is truly top-notch.
ohhh me too! I actually know there are a lot of other face shapes like hexagon, heptagons (which is mine, square bottom part and narrower forehead) which are not talked much about!
I have this face shape, so I have some tips. - I only wear stud earrings. Any other earring draws my entire face down. Especially anything that ends at the jawline. It will make people immediately drawn to the jaw. - No choker necklaces. Again, it draws the eye to the jaw. - No high necklines. I want space near my jaw to match its size. Wearing clothing right next to or near my jaw emphasizes the large size because then that’s all the skin you can see. - I wear side swept bangs, about eye length. And for the other side, I make sure there’s a little bit of short bangs there too that fade into my longer hair. It widens my temple area, minimizing the triangle effect. - On the side of my hair that has the eye-length, side-swept bang, I allow one tiny piece of hair that reaches maybe just below my jawline so that when someone looks at me, their eye goes up and down over my face and doesn’t focus on any one feature. *This is especially important when wearing a ponytail. If you’re holding the hair tight to the head, like Aly said, it’ll emphasize the pear shape. To combat this, that one wavy tendril causes the eye to look up and down, and the irregularity of the hairstyle causes you not to focus on any one part of my face. - I allow my hair to be wavy, and this also softens up my face outline. - I have large eyes, and playing up a large eye makeup draws someone else’s eyes to mine, drawing their eye up instead of to my wider jawline. So that means no dark eye makeup, winged eyeliner only on the outer/ upper lids, light eyeshadow on my lid, contour color on my crease, white eyeliner in the inner corners. LOTS of mascara only on the upper lash line (we’re drawing everything up, not down). - A red lip and overdrawing it slightly like Aly says will diminish the empty space on the lower part of my face. Hope this is helpful to someone. Shoutout to my fellow triangle/pear face shaped girls who always seem to be forgotten in articles and TH-cam videos 😭
Native-Americans, Asian and Turkic people tend to have this face shape (although les sharp but more soft rounded at the bottom) and it is almost always overlooked. Thanks Aly!
@@ImpressDivinity It's an inverted triangle with the broadest part on the jawline, though some people (like me) have an actual pear outline. It's so difficult to work with that most beauty "experts" don't even try to address it.
An advice, look at your old pictures, better the ones you don't remember - maybe at the family album or old social media pages. The changes are sometimes tiny from what you're used to see everyday but it can help to look at yourself as at another person
Some things that have went well with my pear shaped face: 1. Shoulder length hair with a bit of volume and texture. Side part, side part, SIDE PART with layers that frame the jaw 2. Adding emphasis on the eyes with light to medium colored makeup for your skin tone. 3. Making the brows more prominent, not dark and heavy but emphasizing a defined arch on the outer 2/3rds. 4. Emphasizing the cheek bones 5. Wearing v-necks and scoop necks. Oddly enough turtle necks work very well if you have hair that already softens the jawline. 6. For lips: exactly what the video said 7. For taking photos: find your angle! I never look full on at the camera. I turn to the side slightly or let a little hair fall on one side of my face or tilt the camera a bit. It takes work but you fill find your angle. It’s not that pear shaped faces are undesirable it’s just that so many people don’t know how to properly compliment the shape. It’s a different challenge than the other shapes but once you figure out how to compliment the results are stunning. Strong jawlines are gorgeous, unique, and hold up well with age.
My face has an heavier bottom part as well, but it’s not sharp, more softer outline. I struggle a bit with the haircuts, because I have thick hair, and it tends to look flatter on top of my head
Same! My hair is extremely thick and looks best with height and width at the crown. Half up half down hairdos work well. Especially when I do "space buns". For some reason I get a lot of compliments with two buns on top of my head. It balances out my face I think. If I leave my hair all down it doesn't look as cute. To go well with my bottom heavy face, I would need a cut with short layers in the back/crown. Only thing is I don't like that look and my hair is too coarse and thick, therefore hard to manage with that cut. I'd probably look better with bangs too but I don't like them. And with thick coarse hair they are also hard to tame and manage. But I definitely ALWAYS have to have face framing layers, these are essential with any of my hairdos. So my typical hairdos are all up with big top knot or knots, half up half down with bun or buns, all down and clipped up on side/side or in back. I also like my hair long, though when I cut it shorter it does seem to look better sometimes with my long face. But I love long hair. So, having a pear face is a real struggle. All the tips are not really looks I like. Side parts don't really help much.
I'm glad you talked about pear shaped faces because I've been super curious about them ever since I learned of their existence. The only "advice" I ever see for that shape is "grow all of the hair and hide that jaw from the world. Hide it away and never speak of it again". Which, I feel, is marvelous for a woman's self esteem. She said sarcastically.
I have a pear shaped face, and I always thought it was too „masculine“ and „heavy“. Over the time I‘ve come to realize that it stands out and that‘s okay! I am a tall, hourglass shaped girl and I think that face shape makes me look even more dramatic and mysterious! Be confident :)

Your tips on contour made so much sense I have a smaller forehead , big wide cheek bones and wider jaw with softer or blunt edges I was always unsatisfied with haircuts and makeup so I researched a bit and realised nicki minaj has a similar facial structure and uses the same contour techniques you mentioned
I remember having fun looking at books with my bf in a library. He took a makeup book and pretended to analyze my face, and then said “sorry, I think you’re a pear shape“. It kind of set in my mind since then - the existance of such face shape.
Aly! Thanks for this! These are face shapes that aren't recognized but is common. I for one could not find any proper tutorial, often got confused and thought my face was a square, but had more heaviness at the bottom. So koodos to you for doing this! I don't overdraw my lips because they are already quite fleshy, but I overdraw my eyebrows, I make them look a bit longer than they actually are, it really does the trick for me.

I have such a face shape. Thank you for this video! Dealing with my face shape, I mentioned that wider eye makeup (wings, long shape of eyeshadow) helps to balance everything as well;)
I never realized until now that I kinda have this face shape. I hate my face shape ever since. I always thought I had a square face shape. But it's actually worse than that. So that's not helping in how I feel about myself either. Sucks to be born ugly.
I have this face shape. I've spent years trying to hide my jaw line or cover it up... Now I just try to embrace it. These are some things that have helped me enhance and embrace my face shape. You have an round shape then. Both America and Selena has that, they aren't pear shape. Pear shape had strong jaws wider than edge of forehead that's what makes it pear. Google Sophie Ellis bector, Crystal reed and Minnie driver they have what's called a pear shaped face
Also I just wanna say that lady in the thumbnail or the lady at 2:30 with the dark short hair and prominent jaw line actually has a nice face shape and facial features. She looks really pretty. That lady at 0:29 with the green eyeshadow also looks really pretty with her face shape & facial features. Same with the 2 ladies at 6:29 & 6:33 I would love to look like that.
A singer I really like, Ariyasu Momoka (she has youtube) has this face shape! She always said she had a complex with it, so fans started calling her "dango 🍡" in a good way, like "we all love dango and you're as cute as it is". She seemed to really like it and seems less self conscious now (she used to try to hide her jawline everytime in selfies, now she doesn't). I'm really happy, she's so cute! But mostly she's talented in may artistic thing, but since the topic here is face shape... Well, pear shaped can be many things, as you say, some edgy, other elegant or cute.
I just stumbled upon this video and I want to thank you so much for it! You have a really lovely way of talking and reassuring your audience. I am often quite insecure about my huge jaw but your talk just made me feel a little less so. This feels really nice right now :))
As someone who has a pear shaped face, the girl in the thumbnail does not have a pear shaped face at all. Her temple area is wide while most pear faced girls dont have that.
Great video. One for men please. Please This particular face shape hampers self confidence quite a lot. It's a nightmare to take selfies or even looking at the mirror
The top of my head is extremely small I'm basically an egg, lol. I had several urges to do a buzzcut in the past but I know for sure it won't look good :(
Aly, this video makes me sad. Even though I have this face shape I cant relate to the pictures. My face is much more soft. But thank you for making it more known!
I'm still really confused about my face and it feels like that the shape of my face is changing day by day. I'm just a bit of Pear (edit: I meant triangle lol), but sometimes I'm feeling more round and sometimes it also feels like ovale. Is it possible that you can rate the face or bodytype of your subscribers? 😇
Try using a measuring tape 1.measure your forehead 2. Widest part of your cheeckbones 3. Your jawline If your jawline is the widest of all followed by cheekbones and last the forehead you have a pear shape or triangular face shape
I think I have this face type, for years thought it was square but my forehead is so narrow and my jaw is rather softly rounded, not masculine and sharp like I see many of you describe here. I finally found this video and realized I m a pear. 😀 I v been anyway doing my make up pretty much how you advised. Always thought that I look much better from soft profile corner, rather than direct, if it makes any sense. Anyway, still think that we are gorgeous, so don't give up and be proud pear girls!🍐✌️🥰😍
I’m screwed pear shape face and rectangle body 😞. I have TMJ disorder so makes my pear shape worse because I grind my teeth and it strengths the masster muscle at the sides.
Hello, I'm not able to fine my face shape coz I have narrow forehead and my cheeks or cheekbones and jaw are in similar width and my face is longer than its width and my jaw line is very round . So which face shape do I have plz help me .
woooww this is the video i have been looking for! i always thought i had a different face shape to those most commonly mentioned in most informational videos on youtube or online. i was starting to think that i might be a square, but no, this is it! thank you so much!
Your hair looks gorgeous! Much better bleached than before! Can you tell how do you take care of it to look so straight and shiny since it is bleached?
im a guy and i want cosmetic surgery, i hate having this face shape as it makes me look chubby even though the rest of my body is skinny. What do I do to reduce my jawline.
I have the same issue. Maybe we can go together to a cosmetic surgeon to support each other through the jaw reduction surgery. I think the surgeons do better work when you have a friend getting the same thing done bac to back.
I don't struggle that much with the shape of my face, but the top of my head is sooo narrow.. I'w tried so many different haircuts, products and nothing really works...
How interesting! I am a big fan of Alicia Keys, and I never noticed that she has a pear-shaped face. It's funny because I felt we look a bit similar, and perhaps it's also because of the fact that we share the same face shape
Omg I struggle in pictures. In kibbe language, my face is all yin but my jaw is answer B (I am a flamboyant gamine) and when I smile it makes my face shape the weirdest.
I have this face shape and i hate it, it makes my face look ugly T-T. When i was child I don't have this face shaped so it looks like pretty.but when im getting older my jawline also getting bigger and then make me have this pear shaped face Sometimes im wondering if my jaw and cheeks looks more thinner like my childhood photos. Im wearing hijab but it didnt help so much. Im skinny but when i take pictures with my friends , im the most chubby T-T. I'm flamboyant natural body type so with that face I look more masculine. I feel insecure, my sister says that I look pretty at all, but in the picture it look worst in my jawline and cheeks areas. I also have unsymmetrical cheeks. People always think im fat before they look at my body, so sad. So i decide to be more skinny but my face still chubby. I dont give up and search a lot about this face shaped on google and youtube . I really hope exist someone who likes this face shaped but when i read this comment section T-T nah. However thank you for making this video, I didnt see any content mentioned about pear shaped face Now I'm still trying to love my facial features, I can't do plastic surgery cause bit pricey and also scary about that. Then I started facial exercise and mewing to repair my unsymmetrical face . I see the result although little bit I'm still waiting for someone who like this kind of face shape :))
The best part of the pear shaped face is, the neck looks incredibly graceful Speaking as a fellow jaw-prominent lady😁 As always, love love LOVE! Thanks, Aly!!
I actually think this is a cool face shape to work with! Many of us can pull off really stylish headwear, dramatic eye makeup and especially those who are blessed with a sharp jawline can look really cool and badass (coming from someone with a weak chin haha). Kelly Osbourne is most often the posterchild for this face shape and lucky for us, she is so experimental with her hairstyles. So I always look to her for inspiration. Do like Kelly and be confident in your unique face! :)
@@dee-pa-54 yaa and you can look at pamitha's channel for jawline exercises: th-cam.com/video/QbxC-2Syo30/w-d-xo.html .Face exercises actually DO work.
I personally have a heavy bottom part of my face, but I also a big forehead and no sharp jaws at all, lol. Is that oval then? 🤔 I always assume it is, lol. As for the makeuptips: As someone with a wide (bottom part of my) face, I actually dont drag out the highlight too much to the outside of my cheekbones cause that would make my face even wider? 🤔 And I actually do darken up my lower jawline subtly and dont contour too much to the corners of my mouth, but try to make more of a V shape 🤔. What I do the same as you suggest in this video, is that I make my lips more apparent by overlining them plus adding some contour underneath my bottom lips, to attract attention to them more than my jawline 👌🏻. Great video!
Your face could be a soft square like mine if you have a similar shape but no sharpness. My jaw has the width (when I smile) and roundness of a pear but I also have a fairly large forehead.

Thank you!! I don’t have a powerful jaw. Just a small face with jawls and cheeks like America Ferrara and Salena Gomez.
You have an round shape then. Both America and Selena has that, they aren't pear shape. Pear shape had strong jaws wider than edge of forehead that's what makes it pear. Google Sophie Ellis bector, Crystal reed and Minnie driver they have what's called a pear shaped face
@@MaryK02 Thank you!!
The girl that dance in MCR - Helena has a pear shaped face. She is beautiful
She is!
What does dango mean?
@@wabi_sabi52 is a food, this one > 🍡

She looks angelic, such a pretty woman!
Really interesting, Aly we love your positivity! You are the best beauty guru on TH-cam! XO
I just stumbled upon this video and I want to thank you so much for it! You have a really lovely way of talking and reassuring your audience. I am often quite insecure about my huge jaw but your talk just made me feel a little less so. This feels really nice right now :))
You made a video on pear shaped faces!! THANK YOU SO MUCH! ❤️
As someone who has a pear shaped face, the girl in the thumbnail does not have a pear shaped face at all. Her temple area is wide while most pear faced girls dont have that.
I never knew there was a word for this! I always thought had round face until my barber mentioned face shape
Great video. One for men please. Please
This particular face shape hampers self confidence quite a lot. It's a nightmare to take selfies or even looking at the mirror
The top of my head is extremely small I'm basically an egg, lol. I had several urges to do a buzzcut in the past but I know for sure it won't look good :(
Same omg and it's worse since my bang grew :(

Aly, this video makes me sad. Even though I have this face shape I cant relate to the pictures. My face is much more soft. But thank you for making it more known!
Thanks a ton for addressing this issue. Gained a bit of confidence after watching this video.
I love the glasses today! They look lovely and are very brightening to your face! :D
Seeing all these comments of people hating their beautiful pear shape.
It really is a rarity, and so beautiful. Embrace it 💋🍐
Ohhh that's my face shape omg thanks for talking about it 👀
I'm still really confused about my face and it feels like that the shape of my face is changing day by day. I'm just a bit of Pear (edit: I meant triangle lol), but sometimes I'm feeling more round and sometimes it also feels like ovale.
Is it possible that you can rate the face or bodytype of your subscribers? 😇
@@ayeyagomez
I confused it with the triangle shape haha
@@ayeyagomez I think your jaw will look rounder if you gain weight
I had sharper jaws and presently they look rounder and blunt due to weight gain
Try using a measuring tape
1.measure your forehead
2. Widest part of your cheeckbones
3. Your jawline
If your jawline is the widest of all followed by cheekbones and last the forehead you have a pear shape or triangular face shape
@@preshib621 thank you 😍
@@malkulaas6380 happy to help🙂
I have a really long neck with a heavier jaw, but it's softer, not sharp.
But the neck draws attention to my jaw
Hello, I'm not able to fine my face shape coz I have narrow forehead and my cheeks or cheekbones and jaw are in similar width and my face is longer than its width and my jaw line is very round . So which face shape do I have plz help me .
Probably oval shape
woooww this is the video i have been looking for! i always thought i had a different face shape to those most commonly mentioned in most informational videos on youtube or online. i was starting to think that i might be a square, but no, this is it! thank you so much!
Wow did not expect to find a video about my face shape, it really helps to get tips and advice on it~ thanks :)
THANK YOU!! Finally I find my face shape!
Thank you for leaving the bang alone!!!!! It’s hurtful to hear many TH-camrs saying no to bangs for pear shaped persons. 😭😭😭
I don't struggle that much with the shape of my face, but the top of my head is sooo narrow.. I'w tried so many different haircuts, products and nothing really works...
I have a pear face shape too but it's not really sharp
What about oblong but not thin/narrow? Kind of full or puffy ish even when thin?
I feel like I have this too. It’s in between pear and oblong
I have this too it’s so hard to make it work 😭
Gooood this is me😭😭😭 I have longish oblong face kinda but when I smile it definitely becomes pear shaped🥹
Thank you so much...they never include this face shape when they are talking about face shape...i have it...and this video helpful❤
I love your videos. You are so perceptive and notice details very well!
Alicia Keys has this type of shape, and her face is just perfect. Love this type of faces!
How interesting! I am a big fan of Alicia Keys, and I never noticed that she has a pear-shaped face. It's funny because I felt we look a bit similar, and perhaps it's also because of the fact that we share the same face shape
Finally someone addressing my type of face :D
I have kind of soft pear shape face. Anyone has any tips?
More tutorials or info on this face shape please
I loved this I wish there were more videos in pear shapes
Short haircuts and tall women - dramatics, FNs, could you please do a video on this?:)
Love your channel so much! I dont have a pear shape face bit still watched the whole video!💕
Omg I struggle in pictures. In kibbe language, my face is all yin but my jaw is answer B (I am a flamboyant gamine) and when I smile it makes my face shape the weirdest.
Wow I have never heard anyone talk about this. This is the missing piece I've been trying to figure out why i cant figure out my face lol
I have this face shape and i hate it, it makes my face look ugly T-T. When i was child I don't have this face shaped so it looks like pretty.but when im getting older my jawline also getting bigger and then make me have this pear shaped face
Sometimes im wondering if my jaw and cheeks looks more thinner like my childhood photos.
However thank you for making this video, I didnt see any content mentioned about pear shaped face
Now I'm still trying to love my facial features, I can't do plastic surgery cause bit pricey and also scary about that. Then I started facial exercise and mewing to repair my unsymmetrical face . I see the result although little bit
I'm still waiting for someone who like this kind of face shape :))
Thank you!!! This was so positive and so helpful!!
The best part of the pear shaped face is, the neck looks incredibly graceful
Speaking as a fellow jaw-prominent lady😁
As always, love love LOVE! Thanks, Aly!!
Thank you always for you videos girl! This helps 😊❤
Omg. Thank you and I must say I love your style. 👍🏻❤
Please do long face next
Thank you. I feel confident now.
Is hexagon really a face shape?
I actually think this is a cool face shape to work with! Many of us can pull off really stylish headwear, dramatic eye makeup and especially those who are blessed with a sharp jawline can look really cool and badass (coming from someone with a weak chin haha). Kelly Osbourne is most often the posterchild for this face shape and lucky for us, she is so experimental with her hairstyles. So I always look to her for inspiration. Do like Kelly and be confident in your unique face! :)
She had surgery to get rid of the pear shape. I'll have to look at her old pics.
Didn´t remember I once watched this video and left this comment but I like how uplifting I was. Thanks, past me!
I belong to this face shape.

Beautiful face shape pear, Never hear about diamond face shape 😞
I did acid hialurônic and now im pear face but i dont like It on me
the first picture is a square shaped face, the second is pear :) i have pear face :D
@@rachel1576e yeah, I think that is an accurate description of my face too! Both top and bottom heavy lol, but soft edges 😅👌🏻
