How to Use Tags on Redbubble to Increase Sales & My Monthly May Earnings Reveal!

- After seeing a lot of people ask me about how to tag your art on Redbubble in my comments, I thought I would do a little research on best practices and some of my own strategies and put together a video that shares everything you need to know about Redbubble tags! Tags are a great way to gain more exposure and increase your sales, so it's important to take them seriously when uploading your artwork. I'll also be sharing my earnings from May/beginning of June as a part of a mini monthly earnings series I'll be adding at the end of some videos! Hope you guys enjoy :)

Hello Alexandra I am watching all of your videos and all of them are great. I want to ask this question regarding
the tags. So I noticed that Rb push on the top people who repeat many times one tag or similar (ocean waves, waves ocean, waves in the ocean, etc..) but that is normally against the policies. Me who use only relevant single tags lets say (sea, waves, nature, ocean, etc.) can not rank good because of that. I noticed the way you tag and you do the same than me. How did you manage to stand out in the beginning when you first started. With 270 researched niche designs i have only 3 views today.

p.s i was using merch Titans but i found i was getting tags totally unrelevent to my image so used my own, then again merch titans was quite good for other images its hit and miss but ill be doing more research great advice , Brains as well as beauty ;-) lol

Redbubble recommends changing design to cmyk then reconverting to sRGB prior to uploading. So I bought Affinity as a Photoshop subscription substitute for a one time price of 25 instead of a monthly subscription. Do people actually upload just unconverted RGB jpegs to redbubble and get good results? Also worried about that darn monitor calibration stuff. I have always just uploaded regular RGB jpegs to zazzle but the images seem dark sometimes. Can you give advice on this? Also most of my jpegs are 240 dpi, will that work? The camera used did not have a higher capacity. Does redbubble allow you to turn off large format designs ehen the image would be too small to print properly? Thanks for any advice!
I have to watch more of your Red Bubble videos. I think maybe the reason your subscribe ratio is low may be because your videos are too broad a range of topics. For example, I'm only interested in learning the latest Red Bubble information since I've been inactive for awhile. So, much has changed, so the information you provide is relevant to me. Like putting your name in your tags. Very good idea.

Are you Canadian? Do you know if it effects the shop at all to have the currency on Redbubble to CND vs USd?
It’s interesting that we’re allowed to put 50 tags on a design, but if you hover over the little information button near the tag input field, it says to put 15 tags. So, you said you found it somewhere to be between 10 and 20 tags, then that’s what RB wants: 15. In the past, I’ve also looked at the best seller on RB, and apparently not all successes are due to the tags, because on more than one occasion I found best sellers that had just a couple of tags. So, who knows how they market their products, maybe through their own website or social media, but it’s not the tags in their case. It’s hard to pin point it exactly, but I agree that good tags will improve your chances of being found.

Yes it can be distracting. Most important thing to is first research good tags. Then use those tags in your title ,tags and description fields. Only way you will be discovered on redbubble.
I have been wondering whether to use Google Translate to add French, German and Spanish. Anyone think it is worthwhile as it would be quite time consuming?
Teepublic has it's own keyword suggestion system. After you type in 2 or 3 a dropdown appears with more which they presumably optimize. I think a good strategy would be to use it and then steal the keywords for Redbubble. It's not really stealing because it's the same company.
Can one place numbers in the tags, like a date?

I use mykeyworder.com, an online thesaurus and sometimes Wikipedia. The best thing about mykeyworder.com is that you can just copy and paste the tags. It's so fast.

Thank you!! :) I usually use 9000 x 9000 pixels or 9000pixels for the longest edge if the image isn't a square :)

You can use canva.com to design . Use 5000x5000 pixels. Then when downloading double it. I then use paint.net to set the densions 9000x9000 at 300 dpi for a good clear image always

i think you can do that with 'quick edit' when you manage your portfolio.

Hi Alexandra, Before I watch the video.I would like to tell you that I tried to copy your footsteps and uploaded landscape photos on Redbubble that I usually take during my journeys. They got zero sales, and my account btw is now suspended for no clear reason.
Any recommendation?
Hmm, did you try to upload too many images in one day? or copyright images? And sales can take time to get, I know people that waited months!
