These are beautiful dolls, but I prefer the jointing on the Antu mermaids. I get a bit miffed when a mermaid looks like a lady with legs in a costume instead of a critter with a fish tail, but I know I'm weird.

4:12 that's NOT all it looks like. That front joint.

I ended up getting an antu mermaid clear body from kika using points and the body is a lor slimmer and def doesn't sit as well as these ones the antu's have to sit with their tail out or up on their tail fin. But I agree that the jointing of the antu body is more aesthetically pleasing to look at over all.

Do these dolls come with some kind of instruction on how to string them tighter?

They don't unfortunately but it's pretty straight-forward. There's a separate loop that holds their arms together and attached to the torso so you wont need to worry about the arms. Mine were strung nice and tight in that area. The other loop is just one loop that runs from the neck plate down through the tail and back. You would just cut the old elastic, and keep your pieces in order. I would recommend going up through the inside of the chest piece to the neck, over something long and skinny like a crochet hook to keep a loop above the neck opening and neck plateso you can attach the s hook later, then down through the body and tail pieces, back up the tail and torso, and then tie it off tighter between the torso and chest so the knot will be hidden inside the chest piece. Restringing really isn't bad as long and you reattach all your pieces in the right order and don't let that top loop pop back inside the body before you can get an s-hook through it to keep it from doing so. Worst case scenario, you can use a thick wire or crochet hook to pull the elastic band back through the neck, no big deal. It seems like it could be mysterious and complicated from the outside, but at the end of the day it's just a piece of elastic string pulling pieces together. Good luck!
