Starting at 1:45 - We are in the wrong place - this is first class - hey - give me your bag - what? - your bag - am i supposed to smuggle your coffee now? - shhh - i can't do that - so, headed home as well? - actually it's not even my hometown - but if you live for over 30 years in leipzig,... - i gotta head outside again - you know, it's my husbands birthday tomorrow - well first we will celebrate alone, but on the weekend the entire family will be there - and now, i am really nervous - my husband desperatly wanted coffee from coffee beans for the celebration - well my niece in berlin got me some - but they arent controlling the first class as much, right? - at least that is what my niece told me - do you think they will spare us? - your niece sure will be correct - excuse me? - that granny is a nervwrack - she's got coffee with her but can not be quiet about it. - it smells like coffee in there as well - you're imaginating that , but the dude in the corner worries me - + passport control + - calm down now , you watch the police officer and i go help hide grannys stuff - hurry up - hurry up now, he's coming - my fingers smell like coffee - your fingers? the entire cabin smells like coffee - do you carry any items from west berlin or any international wares? weapons or radios? right, then i will look at your passports (id) please) - he doesn't smell anything, his nose is stuffed - which one of you is carrying coffee? - noone? right - you should check her, she's got coffee with her - right, and where? where? - at the luggage deposit, behind the green luggage - you thought you would get through with this, huh? The wares will be confiscated - and your passport will be taking along - Your Passport. Next time no stupiditys, yes? We catch everyone, got that? (hope that helps)

So basically most of Germany went without decent coffee for half of the last century? I mean, first rationing during WW2 where basically every country went years without good coffee, good soap, or even butter or sugar and I don't know what else, then half of Germany can't get decent coffee because they're on the wrong side of the country
I'm sure there wasn't much coffee during or after World War 1 either
Most of *East*-Germany, yes - well, except for the political class, of course - the rest of the population had to make do with ‘Muckefuck’ (from the French ‘ mocca faux’) coffee substitute made of barley malt - I remember even we kids, in the 1970s visiting my stepmother’s family in the DDR - German Democratic (Ha!) Republic - up at the Baltic Sea, we’re allowed to drink ‘coffee’ there .. basically tastes similar to the substitute commonly found today, to9, made of a dandelion root, barley, chicory… …
