      I do think that should have been the first version to listen to. But honestly I’ve grown to really really like this RAH version. I like that it’s bouncy and slowed down.

      As good as Eric is the other 2 were actually making him work hard as heck. I think that the drumer and base player were older and 2 of the best players I've seen and or heard.

    When they first got together they were briefly known as "The Cream" but that didn't last long. This song is a much modified cover of a 1936 Robert Johnson delta blues song. White Room is their most popular song that you haven't commented on yet but my personal favorite is Tales Of Brave Ulysses. It has a ton of classical references and British culture.

    This reunion tour was incredible, it was their first time playing together as a unit in 30 years, and they only did 6 shows-- three in London, and three in New York.
    I caught one of the nights at Madison Square Garden, and I had goosebumps all night....

    A real test of an artist is how well they play live and Cream passes with flying colors. No fancy choreography, explosions, effects, tape loops and samples to cover for the inadequacies of the artist. Just pure MUSICIANSHIP!

  • @donaldb1
    @donaldb1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +37

    This is from a reunion concert many years after they broke up. It's good, but I think a lot more mellow than their earlier version from the _Wheels of Fire_ album. I think that's probably worth checking out, even having heard this.
    Also, for more Cream blues, check out _Born Under a Bad Sign, Politician_ and _Sleepy Time Time._ And for something more psychedelic, _SWLABR, Tales of Brave Ulysses,_ or _We're Going Wrong._
    But I think also, you should listen to their live version of _Spoonful._ It's incredible.

    This song was written by Eric Clapton's Blues hero, Robert Johnson, way back in the 1920's. Johnson influenced him and Led Zeppelin and ZZ Top and SRV and Aerosmith and many other groups. Robert Johnson is an acquired taste, what with it just being him and his guitar on every song, but the incredible guitar playing sometimes sounds like it's two people playing instead of one. According to legend, he met the devil at the crossroads and sold his sold to become the greatest blues guitar player in the world. It doesn't sound like he's getting crazy on the guitar, due to his subtle playing style, until you focus on the guitar instead of his unique singing style and realize how great he really is.

    Great Reaction to a wonderful Group featuring Eric, Jack, and Ginger Baker. So 9/10, my friend.
    One of Eric's 200 appearances at The World Famous: Royal Albert Hall in West London...
    Why not 10/10? lol.......You could have held on a few more seconds to see Jack and Ginger combine to re-introduce Eric so he could receive his deserved ovation but you stopped it short and you could have glanced over and seen there were a few more seconds left on the video for a reason....:)

    RIP Jack and Ginger, you are missed! Jack was magical on that fretless bass! Considering it had been about 37 years since Cream had played together, and considering their ages and physical ailments, the reunion run at Royal Albert Hall was pretty damn special! As others have mentioned, you should really do the "Wheels of Fire" version of "Crossroads" and compare the two. It's a damn shame these guys just could not seem to get along. No telling what kind of great stuff they could have produced in addition to what they did!

    This is a tribute to his guitar and blues muse - Robert Johnson- Mississippi blues. the god of a lot of guitar players to some. Supposedly he sold his soul to the devil in exchange for his ability that trade was set done at the "crossroads" outside outside his home town. His grave is in the middle of nowhere but is visited over 10,000 times a year by strangers

    To every young listener. While I enjoy Reaction channels, like Chod and others. Some of it is hit and miss, because their still on the learning curve. No judgement, I actually admire their journey. But the seminal rock moment, and version to hear, when everyone took notice, ( a hair before Hendrix broke) was Crossroads live at the Filmore West. May 67? If memory serves. Thank God someone rolled tape that night, on this, “one off” masterpiece. This and Mountain’s, “ Mississippi Queen” remain my favorite 3 minute blasts in R&R. Regards to all.
