This is the third Catholic Church/ Chapel I've seen having been completed over the past month. Is this the Revival we're waiting for - that satan can't prevail against? The True Church, The Holy Remnant remaining Truthful and obedient to Christ's Holy and Apostolic Church? Goodness I hope so!

    • @sadie4538
      @sadie4538 ปีที่แล้ว +8

Amazing thought and probably true! I never had thought this. I used to think if "the gates of hell cannot not prevail against it" why is all this corruption and sacrilege occurring everywhere? However, I think you may be correct! I saw the consecration of the Immaculata in St. Marys, KS (beautiful!) but which is the third church you mention? God bless.

@@sadie4538 Your support is refreshing. Usually I get a mouthful the other way.😀. It just struck me this way anyhow so I'm glad it made sense for someone else as well. Let's pray that more of this Revival of the TLM comes about. God's got His Plan to take back what is His, so let's hope this is the start! God Bless you too! Great you got to see the Consecration of St Mary's. I'm in Australia where most TLM parishes are under the Archdiocese which means it's not done in the Truth that it's meant to be because unfortunately our Bishops here are mostly berGOGlians.

This convent is located in Brooksville, Florida.? Do you have a school associated with you? As a retired cathedral choirmaster and organist, expert in men and boys choirs and scholi, I send you my deepest congratulations on a very nice job singing! My only wish was that your chapel had Gothic choir stalls flanking just before the high altar area in a true monastic style for you sisters to sing from. Hopefully, when your numbers grow, this might be a possibility. Your chapel reminds me of the Carmelite men's monastery in Wyoming and the men's monastery in Virginia.

This is the beautiful chapel of the Sisters of St. Thomas Aquinas and have a convent and school.
For those who criticize the Sisters of St. Thomas Aquinas in singing during Mass because they would say, "In the eyes of the Church, only male singers can become members of a church choir. According to liturgical law and the ancient usage of the Church, boys alone have the official right to sing the soprano and alto parts in church choir. (Motu Priopio V. 13)" This is Motu Priopio of Pope Pius X, in which Bishops and priests ought to follow if pre-Vatican II is to be defended. So, we should encourage to sing for the Church as early as 9 years old. These boys, maybe most of them will become priests.
The liturgical choir is an organization of male singers who render the prescribed parts of the Mass and Office allotted to them. Here's from Pope Pius X's Motu Priopio,. "Even when they are laymen (they) are really taking the place of the ecclesiastical choir." (M.P.V. 12)
How about women in the women's choir of the Church? This is about the female member (girls/women). Thi

@@mattwashere__ The Immaculata's altar is properly disposed, that is, freestanding such that it can be gone around at the incensations, as is prescribed by the rubrics for the consecration of an altar and implied for incensations at Mass from the Lavabo. Note that the same is true of the altar in this church (and of all cathedrals, par excellence St. Peter's and the rest of the Roman basilicas), only that the predella makes it awkward to follow said rubrics, as becomes evident at several parts of the stream. The only thing the Immaculata's altar is missing (which this church is missing as well) is a canopy over the altar. I have problems with both, but to imply the Immaculata's altar is the way it is so it can be used for the NO is pathetically ignorant of the church's history and laws.

I have my problems with that church (and SSPX as a whole), but to call it ugly on account of its altar is... well, most people who object to do so on grounds of ignorance (i.e., the false notion that freestanding altars are anything but presupposed by the rubrics).

    • @readerm8313

First of all, we are talking about art and architecture. A lot of people today think that stuff is beautiful when I find it to be downright hideous. I don’t think anyone has a “problem” when their taste is different or just bad. If you like it, good for you. I am probably spoiled.
That being said, what I dislike the most is the paintings. I think they ruin what could have been a beautiful church. They look like paint-by -number. I can’t even imagine seeing a painting like that in a church in Europe. I really do think the paintings are ugly. They look like something you would find in child’s coloring book.
I don’t have a problem with free-standing altars. Some of the most beautiful altars in the world are like that. But that altar is not beautiful. It is plain. Which doesn’t seem right for an altar. Reminds me of Novus Ordo. I wonder why they didn’t do more. A canopy will be a nice addition, but that won’t make the altar any more beautiful.
There are some things I like about the church, but the altar is not one of them. If I were to list traditional altars from most beautiful to least beautiful, this one is nearly bottom of the list.

@@readerm8313 I'm committed to the assertion that beauty (let alone fidelity to the Church's legislation on sacred art and architecture) is objective, though I can grant there's room at least for preference -- though I should think not to the extent of disagreement on what is outright hideous... but I'll leave that.
I agree with you that the paintings in the Immaculata are an absolute travesty, bordering on cartoonish. I was immensely disappointed when I first saw the sketches for it.
Now, back to the altar... I'm not sure how it's "plain" (or even how much that should actually matter -- remember that liturgical law, though sadly not the SSPX, would have the altar covered with an antipendium at all times except the Diviserunt on Holy Thursday). It's certainly not plain in the sense of lacking color, though I suppose you could argue that the colors it has blend with its background, which would be a fair critique. The solitary Cor Unum design at the center is perhaps not as spectacular as it could be made (though, given the choice of that design, I'm not sure how much more could be done... a sunburst pattern behind, or a larger one if there's already one?). Bottom line, while I'd grant there's room for improvement, and I'm not calling it the most gorgeous altar in Christendom, I hardly see it as downright hideous.
The altars at St. Peter's in Rome and St. Mark's in Venice (still the most beautiful church ever built) are certainly plainer than the one at the Immaculata, so while I think there's certainly room to criticize it, I'm not sure plain is quite the right way.

Now, this law is for Religious Women.
"Choirs composed of nuns and their pupils (female) singing in their own convent are permitted. However, they are NOT CHURCH CHOIRS IN THE LITURGICAL SENSE."
The following is from New Canon Law, Canon 1264, maybe year 1934.
"Religious women, in as far as they are allowed by their constitutions and the laws of the liturgy and of the bishop TO SING IN THEIR CHURCH or public oratory, shall occupy a place where they cannot be seen by the people."
The following is from Chapter 12 from the Letter of the Cardinal Vicar (Cardinal Merry del Val) to those in charge of choirs in the City of Rome, February, 12, 1912.
Notice that a female Religious cannot intone or do a part solo by herself but intoner should be 2 female Religious or if that part of Proper singing the Psalm part should be sung by 2 Nuns or Sisters.
"Women who are members of a Religious Community, and, with them, theirs pupils, may sing in their own Churches and Chapels during liturgical services, according to the decrees of the Sacred Congregation of Bishops. However, we desire that the SINGING OF SOLOS BY THEM BE FORBIDDEN, and we recommend that they give preference to Gregorian Chant both at Mass and at Vaspers, which Chant should, if possible, be rendered by the entire Community."
This shows another discipline to be promoted.
The rendering of music by congregational singing and active participation of the faithful in divine worship.
From T.A.C. "Divini Cultus Sanctitatem" IX from Pope Pius XI.
" They (the people) may alternate in singing with the priests or the scholae, according to prescribed forms."
The congregation should go back in singing and praying in Latin. My grandma who passed away in 1950's used to say the Angelus with her children in Latin.
The big scandal is when Pope Leo XIII allowed the prayers after Low Mass (Leonine Prayer) in vernacular as long as the celebrant remove his Maniple or vestment. So, we go back to the original and some traditional priests say it in Latin and people
answer the 2nd part of Hail Mary in Latin, Salve Regina and prayer to St. Michael in Latin.
When the celebrant go to say a sermon, he remove his Maniple because he would speak in vernacular the Gospel/Epistle. It should also be done (the removing of Maniple)
when the celebrant decided to pray the prayers after Low Mass in (allowed) vernacular. In the olden times, the celebrant remove his vestment and maniple before the sermon (maybe that's why the sermon was done before the Mass).
In a High Mass, the congregation is NOT expected to sing the Proper of the Mass " but the singing of the responses and even the Ordinary of the Mass is feasible, while the singing of Latin and vernacular hymns (Entrance/Recessional) may reasonably be expected." These are all in unison.
Low Mass is definitely ordered by Pope Pius V as NO SINGING but to enhance Sunday, Missa Cantata (High Mass or now they call Sung Mass) was promulgated by the same Pope. And this High Mass or Missa Cantata, " the ceremonies are somewhat abbreviated because of the absence of the sacred ministries; INCENSE IS NOT PERMITTED, and the celebrant himself sings the Gospels in the Deacon's stead."
So, there's only 3 kinds of High Masses:
    High Mass (Missa Cantata)
    Solemn High Mass
    Pontifical High Mass
There's no High High Mass with incense. The traditionalist movement invented that.
We pray for these so the saints and God be pleased!

    • @michaelrex6948
      @michaelrex6948 ปีที่แล้ว

Missa cantata with incense was a custom that developed in the 19th century, if memory serves. I believe it was approved by the SRC, but I can't find a complete record of their acts to corroborate what I've heard. Also, you forgot the "semi-solemn" Mass (with deacon but no subdeacon) which Pius XII approved for use in mission countries. Otherwise, though, I agree.

A home should be welcoming, a city hall is majestic and austere, a cathedral lifts us to heaven with its towering spires and angelic arches. The motherhouse is the heart of a religious congregation; it is the source of its life-blood. I know they are problematic. I also know what "following the church's teachings" the last sixty or so years has done. Lost millions of laity and religious to other "faiths/sects. I have wondered if these people are on to something that others have been too blind to see. But many are waking up to the truth.

The church has moved on it has changed as society has changed Christ came to perfect tge okd law which meant change.
The peopke who have left the church have done so with free will.
The religious who.keft left because they were required to make decisions they could not. We have an informed conscience and we should be using it.
