Some people can say whatever they like about MInt, but the developers combined elegance, beauty, simplicity on a whole different level with Cinnamon DE. Refined, full with useful small things function wise, with a very own personality looks wise which is terribly pleasing as well. No wonder it is so popular.
Same here. I just clicked on the notice on the panel and followed the menu. It installed in place. The download was a bit slow but I assume that is because a lot of people were upgrading.
Hi there, from what I understood you have an nvidia, how does linux mint work for you? Did you tried wayland aswell? Best regards and thank you so much for the video
I like you're approach, although I tend to use Ventoy instead of Balena Etcher for Desktop Installs. I can pack as many ISO images (including WIndows ISOs) as the USB stick will take. After installing Linux on machines as old as a 486 >25 years ago, it's nice to see a few Microsofties coming out of the woodwork and embracing Linux to some extent. The OEM Install of Mint (and Ubuntu for that matter) are great for repurposing machines to resell or donate. You get that out-of-box new experience.
@@emreener In Cinnamon, go to the super menu, click on "Administration", then select "Login Window". Along the top, select the "Users" tab, and look at the options for "Automatic login". You probably just need to remove your username.
Why did you use Etcher when Linux Mint already has a built in ISO burner? It comes with that and a USB stick formatter. I've never had them fail unlike Etcher. Also the install process for davinci resolve is ridiculous. A simple one click install on distros like Linux Mint or Zorin OS sure would go a long way in making Linux a more usable desktop OS.
Hii I'm beginner in Linux OS. I have Queries regarding making a Custom Desktop hardware recommendation which run linux well & Nvidia Graphic card which is compatible for Linux OS distribution.
I'm 5 minutes into your video, mate, did you just erase everything on your main hard drive and then start to create a fresh install of Linux Mint 21.3? If so, can't you just upgrade to the new version and keep your hard drive files more or less untouched?
Open up your update manager, at the top click edit, a you have the option to upgrade. Do all your updates first and do a time shift backup. It will be an option during your upgrade.
I tried Mint Wayland on three systems. It's still pretty rough. Retroarch doesn't work at all. Tons of screen tearing on Steam games. I can't believe Ubuntu ships with Wayland as default.
@@eijentwun5509 I do pro audio on Linux too.. I'm still using jack. Tried pipewire for a minute. I don't get why alsa apps show up on the graph only when audio is playing. It's so annoying. I like Linux Mint. could not directly install version 21.3 on my AMD laptop. was able to install 21.2 edge iso and then upgrade to 21.3 with 6.5.x kernel. not for beginers. Linux Mint once about a time was much easier to install. I also can not run any live 21.3 iso's cinnamon , mate or xfce. hopefully the 21.3 cinnamon Edge version will be released soon.

Kindly tell me which Linux OS Distribution for Learning & Research Oriented & Hard ware recommendations
I simply did the upgrade from 21.2. The only minor issue was Chrome browser was stalling, so I powered down and everything works fine.
Nice! Thanks for sharing.

I dont think Wayland option is on the MATE or XFCE version?
Just Cinnamon that I know of. Thanks for watching.
I installed yesterday and the internet is very slow, websites and updates take long to load and download.
I think the mirrors got hit pretty hard yesterday. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for watching. My experience is Wayland isn't there yet for NVIDIA. I hope that changes this year.

How is everyone enjoying Linux Mint 21.3? 🍃 Does Wayland work for your use case or are you ignoring for now?
Hello, My mint is using auto login and I dont see the login screen. It is going strait to the desktop, how can I try Wayland in this case ?

What button did you press on the linux boot menu? I automatically go into the boot text menu.
I press F12 on my PC, select my USB stick, and go.
Thanks Chris, a great walkthrough and review. Do you know what version of LibreOffice is included with 21.3? Is it 7.6, or the 7.5 version?
7.3

@@TheLinuxITGuy need to start using Ventoy if will not work with the Ventoy then balena etcher or any Linux app iso maker will do.
I bet he did because he knew you'd be triggered by it.
He was in a cheeky mood, and I'm here for it.
So can it be used as directly the iso file in the usb?
Yes, ventoy works.
Is Etcher multiboot capable?
Take a look at ventoy. I have a video on it.
@TheLinuxITGuy Yes. I saw that vid and decided that's the one. Thanks for the response 👍 😀
Glad it helped.

Linux Mint 21.3 should work well for you. The driver manager makes installing NVIDIA drivers a breeze.
