13:28 I like starting with the cheapest demand of guys w 2.5* potential… occasionally will find a guy who’s potential goes up when fully scouting them and then I can grab a 3 or 3.5* for under a mil
I've just started this series, wanted to wait a while because I'd had a break from OOTP - can I just say, as a frequent OOTP subreddit user, it's so great to see you using the info provided by ZenMasta61 - that guy is great.
Was only able to watch this episode on my return journey as the second flight was very noisy for some reason and I could barely hear through my headphones over the noise. Looking forward to seeing how this all pans out though in episode 4 with the finalising of your coaching staff, expanding the league to 32 teams and initial draft for these two new teams 👍🏼 I should be able to catch up on a bunch while the A’s series takes its mini break this week.
Another Canuck here, happy to see Montreal back, would actually love to see them stay in the AL East with Toronto. Wanted to weigh in on IFA - the way I typically handle it is to identify the top 3-5 guys that I want - which means that I will sometims not invite that crazy hitter with absolutely no defensive position and/or poor personality. Then I look for some secondary people that I might want to sign after the "big fish" are hopefully caught - one thing in particular that I've found is often there are 4.5 to 5 star RP possibilities mis-labelled as 2 to 2.5 star SP's. So I invite one or two of them to camp to build up the relationship to (hopefully) sign them for a bargain. From time to time I will do the same with a fringe prospect with your "holy triumverate". Build the relationship to hopefully enable a cheaper signing. Excited to see where this team goes!
Aaaah ! Thank you for this ! Finally a team back here in Montreal !! Thought I wouldn't live old enough to go & watch baseball in my hometown again haha !
Good question... Manager is Excellent in Dev, Average in Mechanics, and has an Excellent relationship with Medina; Hitting Coach is Excellent in Teaching Hitting, Excellent in Dev, Good in Mechanics, but only has a Fair relationship with Medina...
@@oldschoolsports I have noticed an improvement in the Coaching system in OOTP. I have been setting Coaching same (23 and 24) and can finally say there is something great to be said in player development in OOTP24 over 23.
As a canuck I am happy to see a team back in Montreal and called the Expos in your play through!! But I am curious the rational why and why you moved TB??
Last year the Rays tried to move a portion of their home games to Montreal. Although the plan was rejected by the league, Tropicana Field is in my opinion one of the worst venues in baseball, and attendance is still bad for a team that is consistently in contention despite a relatively low payroll. I don't think we've heard the last of the Rays moving if they don't get a new stadium, and I wouldn't be surprised if Montreal is brought up again as a potential destination.
Yeah I read about that as well. And I agree the Trop is by FAR the worst place in the league for a number of reasons and they have needed a new park for a long time now. I don't see ball working in Montreal as any team trying to move there will want major government concessions and that will not happen with the Quebec government at all. And the players will revolt with the stupid high tax regime compared to no State tax in Florida. If a team DID move to Montreal they would never sign a UFA unless it was someone no one else wanted.
@@Pep8691 That's fair. I tend to agree that baseball probably won't ultimately end up back in Montreal, but I always liked the Expos too, and it's my baseball universe here!
@@oldschoolsports nah definitely not but not looking good in vegas rn either from what ive been reading. Our owner is so trash really hopes he messes it up and he sells 🤞🏼
If you are in the first year, you just don't create a new schedule after adding them; in future seasons (before you want them to play in MLB) you need to transfer your team to a fictional league before the season starts, regenerate a new MLB schedule, and then transfer your team to back MLB. Good luck!
When you said that you were moving another team besides the As I thought that this was coming, but now of course I am going to favour them over Buffalo. If you are able to turn Buffalo into a dynasty like you did in KC, I hope that you will consider jumping to Montréal.
By the way... I Know that you turned off owner goals for this LP, but there is a way to disable the owner dictating budget. I believe that you can set that as you are in Commish mode.
Are you in the American League or National? Have you decided on what the divisions are going to look like now? How about playoff structure? Does your park favor pitchers of hitters? What is your owner's profile? I don't want much, do I?

As somebody who was born in Utica and graduated from UB… I am loving this series lol
Ha, we need to represent Central, Western and Upstate NY!

I would look at Boot down the line, see if he turns into the monster bat he’s advertised to be.
Definitely... I am worried he is going to haunt me for the next two decades... I really need one of those two pitchers to work out!
Missing Boot is gutting, his bat profile reminds me of soto
Yeah, I may regret that one for the next 20 years of game time and several months of my life!

Ha, happy to help! I'm glad to see a team back there also!
Medina is almost a carbon copy of an IFA I signed in my sim. His rookie season he had 6 WAR and a ~120 wRC+
Nice! I hope I can get close to that from him!
I think that there is logic in saying that one elite prospect is worth more than two or three middling ones.
Dean Moss going to IMG Academy and committing to Vanderbilt to play baseball, he must have tons of hype
I would have gone with Attica, Ossining, and Rikers Island for minor league affiliates. :-)
Ha! I don't know the names of any famous prisons in Massachusetts, so I've got no retort on this one...
I'm interested to see how you set up the playoffs when you go to 8 divisions.
Steel nfl format?
What kind of Coaching did Medina have? I mean what are the Dev and Mech Coaching ratings. I am curious.

Utica has the best Black and White Cookies in the world. Just a thing you should know.
Yes they do! I am partial to the "halfmoons" from Hemstrought's Bakery!
@@oldschoolsports Yes! (My wife's family is all from Utica, so anytime we go back, I grab myself a dozen or three!)
