This felt like hanging out in a friend's bedroom to offer moral support while they (unmotivated) deal with their closet--but then it wound up being fun for both of you--and I loved that vibe.
I love the language you use to describe your clothes! I love the talking about clothes in terms of "feeling good", "silhouette", "texture" etc. Also, I didn't realize how much I was craving a vibrant closet!
Color is really fun! I only realized how little people wear color recently. I wore that pink skirt out and about and I got so many compliments and I literally think it was just because it was colorful.
Love this so much. 100% relatable, this is how clothes works - sometimes it’s that 10 year old H&M piece that lasts forever, nothing gets put back just right, and care instructions are for following half of the time. Love the realness.
Loving an hour long video 😍 just in case anyone is interested there are clothing companies that will do “take back bags” where you pay a small fee (usually like $20) and you mail 15-20 lbs of clothing and the company will dispose of it as ethically as possible! For Days is a company I’ve used in the past ☺️
The sleeveless jumpsuit . Style it with a long sleeve lace or mesh top & keep it open to the waist . In winter style it with a cashmere turtleneck . That jumpsuit has so many options. Take the nice tank tops too your friend & get the straps shortened ( do a little fold and stitch it easy peazy) Rebecca will understand you bringing all your clothes! The key to a flawless wardrobe is having a good seamstress/tailor!
Loved this video, Tom! Trying to shop more ethically when you have certain sizing/fit needs is such a challenge. I'm straight sized but am pretty tall and have very long arms and legs, so pants and long-sleeved anything is a nightmare. And of course I got myself into a career that requires me to cover my tattoos at work, so short sleeves are off the table 🙃 I really hope we start to see better ethical options that fall outside the industry's (arbitrary) idea of "average" sizing.

Take it to a dry cleaner with a tailor or to your local friend! If I really wanted to keep it that would be a great idea! But I really wanted to downsize my sweatshirt collection and perhaps its next owner will do that, but they may also love those pockets!!
I so appreciate your talking through each piece - I do that too (makes it easier to let things go when I actually explain to myself why I don't want an item. Try turning your hangers backwards (like, at the beginning of the year or the season) and that will make it super easy to see what you wear and what you're forcing yourself to wear. Good Luck with upgrading/updating your wardrobe! It is really hard to do!!
i personally choose to hold on to clothes that don’t fit me because my weight tends to fluctuate a lot so i’ll have my fave staple items in like three sizes

For the shirt that doesn’t hang on normal hangers maybe try using pants hangers (the ones with the clips). I tried it recently for a tank that kept slipping off the hangers due to the width of the neck and it worked wonders and is less annoying!! Maybe it will allow you keep it with your other tees and wear it more because it’s visible!!

Maybe you're more like me, but I definitely see people just throwing a vest on for cold weather, instead of a jacket, and I feel like it would work for that. Or you could put on a cape to warm your arms? Hand muffler?
I think I’m so stuck on it not being for warm weather because it was part of the brands summer collection… so why this material for the lining?! lol but I may try putting some Long sleeve stuff under it before getting rid of it completely!

On your jumpsuit that you love so much could you have your friend change the lining rather than just get rid of it? Maybe if it was a cotton lining instead of the suede it would be more breathable or comfortable

I have sensitive skin and a love for shine & sparkles . Ask/ Pay your friend to sew in a skin color liner in areas that are prone to chaffing and to cover open seams . Also , you can also use undercover tape , spray liquid bandage . The brands body glide & megababe make good anti chaffing sticks ! Love your fashion & style ! 🎉
i’m of two minds about keeping clothes that don’t fit me currently.. on one hand, is it taking up space in my closet? yes. does my weight fluctuate enough that it could reasonably fit soon? also yes. and if i get rid of something i’ll love i’ll just rebuy smth similar so it’s not sustainable to get rid of!!! much to think about.
Im not in the habit of throwing out or disposing of clothes often myself and my body has been at this size for a bit. I don’t see myself fitting into some of the very very small pieces again or any time soon and I’d love for them to have a good life being worn by someone else! But if I should lose a ton of weight in the future I think I would go the route of getting my stuff mended / altered to fit me, but I think everyone’s journey is unique and as long as we are trying our best to not create more waste that’s all we can do!

I've just come to terms with the fact that some people can't tolerate unnatural fibers....more plastic for me! I'm only kind of joking but I can enjoy an array of unnatural fabric texture which is convenient since plus size natural fabrics can be hard to come by...and even if it was available, it's not going to be colorful fun and/or slutty!
