Alcohol stoves do best with a lid on ur pot and a windscreen. Also, a wider pot base helps capture more heat. Also, u need a bit more space from the top of ur stove to the bottom of ur pot, an inch & a quarter to 5/8's, u will get faster boil times, and use a snuffer to conserve more fuel, instead of letting excess fuel burn out, it has to fit inside the stove stand. I use the lid cut off a coconut milk can, and one with a hole cut out as a summer ring!.
I have the larger Lixada siphon stove, and there a few mod videos, with snuffer & simmer rings available. I do love how much faster they come to a full bloom, in mere seconds 👍

With the custom simmer ring,I was able to extend the burn time on one oz/30ml of fuel to 40 mins! Yes, it took longer to get a boil of 2 cups of water, but that's the point. As I was cooking some miso soup from scratch 😆

Thats a cool idea, I will have to try that!

Thanks for the video. I'm a bit late to the comments, but these stoves boil water faster at 1.5 to 2.0 inches from the top of the burner to the bottom of the pot.

Never too late. Yeah I watched one of Steve's old videos and discovered thats the sweet spot on these stoves. I recently used the Trangia with the Firebox Nano and it keeps it at the perfect height.

Alcohol stoves are my favourite. You probably would have had a better time if the burner was a little lower. I like to use a Ferro Rod most of the time. But I’ve always wondered about the little bits of metal from the rod that ends up in that stove, as in maybe plugging the small jet holes in burner.

Oh those are good ideas, I am planning a face off video between this and the Trangia soon, ill try those two ideas out if i can. Thanks!

I never tried a alcohol stove before my body uses it but I haven’t tried it. I watched one being used by him someday I’m going to try it. Cheers from the lower Michigan adventures.

Thanks! I haven't used one other than this, but I already have the Trangia on order to test against this one and see which I like better, then I'll see what I can do with it.

    Thanks for sharing, keep experimenting.
So what was the point of burning off almost a full siphpon stove of fuel?
Of course putting a pot of water on will make a difference,
    1, it will be purposeful.
Heatiing up thee world is pointless.
Things are differently under working conditions.
Windshields and a pot lid help reduce fuel comsumption.

For sure I agree with you 100%, I just wanted to see how long it would take to burn through while wide open. I figure its a good baseline to work from since pots and distance from the pot could vary. I still plan on doing a head to head against a Trangia stove, which will include this test as well as a boil test with lids, but I want them to be exactly the same

😂😂 you should try putting a top on your pot and it would boil in 5 minutes.
