    This makes me want to see an arcade version of this Pac-Man CE

      There would have to be restrictions on an arcade version. Shorter time limit and a higher point requirement for extra lives. But at the same time, a short time limit would defeat the purpose of extra lives. People would feel cheated. They would have to try to configure the game to where players aren't waiting around for someone else's game to end. I'm pretty sure Namco thought of it, but thought it'd be better to just keep it as a console/mobile/pc game instead.

    So after a decade of waiting, that NES rom of Pac-Man Championship Edition is finally released...AND BECOMES AN OFFICIAL VERSION

      I really don't think this is an actual NES game. I think it's just made to look a lot like one. You can tell that it isn't one by the SFX and background music.

      I learned that when there’s more than four tiles of sprites in one row they’ll do that. What’s even crazier is that they purposely do that for READY and GO! This game blows my mind

    • @porcorosso81
      @porcorosso81 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Sprite flickering is a common visual artefact on the NES / Famicom, since the graphics chip can not display more than 8 sprites on a display line. What's actually amazing is that this is a real port, not another doofus / boring pseudo 8-bit game!

  • @TotallyGoodatGames
    @TotallyGoodatGames 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    This couldn't be an actual NES game, though it does visually look like a pretty convincing late-life NES game.

    • @senobeya
      @senobeya  4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Japanese version of NES(Famicom) has extend sound mix port. Namco N163 (MMC chip) is using this port, (like KONAMI VRC6 etc...) so we can here this gorgeous music.

    • @esmooth919
      @esmooth919 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@senobeya I had a feeling that's how this port was made possible. But at the same time, there's no way this can run on an NES as opposed to a Famicom, since the pins for the sound expansions have been moved to the bottom of the console.

      Most japanese companies tend to stick with the limitations of these consoles.
      This is the reason Mode 1 was the most used mode on the Super NES. Even I could make a Mode 0 game look great. Mode 0 is basically the “NES color“ mode of the SNES in a sense where there's 3 colors per tile out of one of the 8 palettes per layer.

    • @Samus123451
      @Samus123451 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It works on emulators, so presumably it would work on real hardware if you had the right chip.

      it does work on the real hardware
      you just need to modify it slightly if it's an NES, but it should work fine on a stock Famicom (due to the Famicom having some extra channels that the NES has disabled)
