    Filipino people are straight to the point. When people ask where you are going, don't be alarmed that they will follow you. They're just trying to help how to get to your destination.

    Been taking the MRT for while but never heard of exit 4 😂, the lady guard was confused herself. Noticed that she and the gentleman was asking where you are heading; this is to point you to the right direction; they are not nosy, this is just how many locals give direction, some will even suggest how to go to your destination such as what public transpo to take and the likes. Example, if you answer say Pasig, they will tell you proly to exit to the other side etc.......Enjoy your stay and be safe.

    • @Kevin-Travels
      @Kevin-Travels  7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @dreilewis 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      To survive using the public transpo, you shouldn't just rely on google maps. The transpo system in the country is not that well established for google maps to accurately lay out. You have to communicate and ask the locals and they will give you the correct direction that you needed. Even locals in the Philippines still ask one another for directions. It's normal for Filipinos to ask you where you are going because they wanna help you.

    Exit 4? Never heard that one before when using MRT that’s why the ladyguard got confused with you. It’s always best to tell them where you are heading instead since the exits will only take you either to the left or right side of EDSA road. Also, please carry smaller bills for small businesses and transpo specially early in the day. Them changing your large bill will just cause them inconvenience scrambling for change to other customers.

    The way that lady at the station dashed those coins in one smooth motion was very “casino-esque” I think we all know what her former job was 😂
    LRT 2 is literally the only train line that is at a decent pleasant standard. The others (MRT 3 which you were on and LRT 1) are run like buses. If you go to Antipolo (one of the quiet highland havens just outside of Manila with good views of the Metro) you can use LRT 2 and see the contrast between the grey urban areas and the greenery of the suburbs and foothills of the Sierra Madre mountains.
    It sorta sucks because the working and middle classes here have to deal with all this bs on a daily basis. Which makes most people grouchy lol.
    Service, maintenance and upgrading stations and trains aren’t a thing here mostly.
    The Japanese are building a subway system in Metro Manila that should be completed in a few years so if you return then you’d be able to experience a decent transportation option for the metro.

    Living in southern Metro Manila, I've never been to the northern district, particularly Shaw, assuming it's just corporate entities and the usuals, but I could be wrong. Various townships were built as a respite from the metro's wild chaos, and BGC is an interesting perspective of the city. It's worth spending a visit there before heading to the beaches. There are affordable dining options in BGC, and Food District on 5th Ave. offers good meals. The kiosks at Market Market are of mediocre quality.

    • @Kevin-Travels
      @Kevin-Travels  7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Exit numbers are actually really helpful. If you follow maps you will know them, haha. Really handy to use them in foreign country, because when I had right exit, I also had right direction right away. Just avoid tricycles and taxis as they are associated with scams. Besides the train, buses can be quite safe once you understand the complexities. Grab is the most convenient and safest option and worth the amount. Don't torture yourself. Metro Manila is vast and chaotic, making it difficult to navigate even for residents like me who have seldom been to other districts apart from my own. It's wise to remain in one area closest to your planned destinations.

      I see. It would be cheaper to take a taxi, which would only cost around 55-60 pesos. However, transport terminals are often filled with taxi drivers who overcharge. Even as a local, I’ve personally experienced this in the same exact terminal. While Grab is usually twice or sometimes three times the price of the taxi meter, it’s safer. Although sometimes I prefer taking a taxi if I’m not coming from a transport terminal or the airport, I always make sure to use the taxi meter if the driver asks for a fixed price, and I use the Waze app for real-time road directions. But for nighttime, I would still prefer booking a Grab.
