- So I've had this idea for awhile to try and get the maximum amount of lives as fast I can during endless. People have probably done this before, but I thought it would be a nice challenge and change of pace. Turns out that it takes a lot longer than I expected.

It’s a category that would be super fun for a while, but it would die very fast, because once someone has a very well played run, also with insane RNG it will be horrible to speedrun
tylernol other games are not dependent on user submitted levels. The whole run is a gamble wether there are one ups and coins? Nothing involved just boring

If you're at the goal of SMB3 style and you pause at the fireflower you can unpause and jump and if timed right it'll get you a 1up

There’s actually a very easy way to do it.
Whether its hard or not is immaterial, it doesnt waste that much more time to complete it so you might as well go for it

the Japanese text at 26:40 actually says, for some reason, "Tapioca" it's actually just written in Katakana which is one of the two syllabaries used by Japanese, you can learn it in a week or less, it's super easy and you don't even need to know Japanese to understand it,(generally) because it's mostly for foreign words, and a few other things like sounds and names. like マリオ.

I'm on course number 1257 and have had 99 lives like forever. I wish I had a setup to prove it but I don't. I've tried to play on super expert once but have lost all 30 lives on the first course.

Don't kill enemies near the goal/flag they can give you lives.

Btw, not sure if he realizes it later in the video, but you CAN get a 1up from the roulette wheel at the end of smb3 levels, it just boils down to timing.

If you were to get a perfect run, you would need 3 lives for 33 levels.
Actually you'd only need 32 levels allowing 1 lvl to only gain one life as you start with 5 already and only need to get 94. Still tho, that'd be bloody difficult haha
And they gots to be the shortest possible lenth in 3d world with the boost panels

There's definitely strategy, especially with the timed speedrun rather than going for minimal levels.
Probably boils down to skipping anything that doesn't seem promising within the first few seconds.
But you also gotta go fast, but each careless death would just be brutal...
In a perfect run, to get from 5 lives to 99, you need 32 levels beaten with 3 One-ups per Level, but you are allowed to die/not get a one-up two times

I’ve done a challenge of beating 100 easy levels in 100 minutes (1h40m) and usually get to 99 lives at some point. Interested to see how this turns out.

Hey Panga I have an idea for your next run: endless [difficulty] but you can't gain any lives. You can get some coins, but be careful because they'll accumulate. You have to avoid 1-up mushrooms like they're poison shrooms. And also be wary of the top of the flagpole/goal. I think this is a pretty cool and fun idea, but that's up to you.

You can get 1-ups in SMB3: You have to hit it when it shows a 1-up mushroom.

Idk if its mentioned in the video (im only part way through) but in smm2, for smb3 levels, when u hit the end card, u can get a 1up. So u dont have to skip smb3 levels

This is a unique concept for a challenge I'm glad you're halfway there already, I gotta say, they need to reward you when you get 99 lives in an endless challenge

Maybe a small tweak to add some drama:
Same 99 lives, easy speedrun, but if you die, you have to restart all progress. Back to 5 lives. And maybe make it no skips? I go back and forth on that, as it adds a strategic elemtn on what level to try, but might cut out some of the drama if a level looks the slightest bit tough.
And maybe this could be done as an ultimate race with rays, falc, desbug, dgb, etc.
Revisiting an old vid and not hearing the evolved lingo he's got now is weird but the observation of growth is dope on it's own
Is there any way to view the leaderboards online for each difficulty? I don't have the game, and am curious what the highest someone's been in super expert is. I know not too long after launch Ryu was like top 10 or 5 or something by hitting 50, but a lot of time has passed so I'd imagine people have gotten much further. Curious about just how much of a god gamer you'd have to be to hit 99 lives in super expert.
You can get one ups from the goal in smb3. It is a roulette of 4 items - one is a one up
Easy levels always either
- really weird and badly deisgned levels
- auto levels
- refreshing levels
- levels that are supposed to be easy
When Panga skipped that SMB3 level and no one in chat said anything, I quickly came to the comments section. I am glad there are some people that know you can get a 1UP in SMB3.
I feel like Panga should have at least tried to get a one up from the box (Whatever you call it) at the end of the level. It's not like the one up picture in the box is hidden.
This could be a fun challenge to do in a random super world, since there's no limit to 1ups.

I am either having an incredible bout of deja vu, or I've seen this video before and don't remember it
Panga, i learned from ThaBeast, that if u pause the game while underneath the fire flower on the goal thing in SMB3 and then immediately jump, you'll almost always get the 1-up. This is really helpful for endless super expert, and would be really helpful for this sort of run.

Are you counting levels or time? For your 99lives% endless easy run?
Excluding the starting 5 lives, and assuming he doesn’t die and gets all 3 possible lives, it would take him 33 levels to get up to 99 lives, but the minimum amount of levels he has to complete is 31 (as he starts with 5 lives).

Tip: If you can't a Life, even if you're at the end of a Level: Skip
I would say not getting 3 lifes is worth skipping.
Also WR should be considered checking
I think for the SM3 I think levels you can learn the timing to always get a oneup
Did you guys notice the first level was the number 1 and a couple levels later it’s the number 2
You can do a run were you must get like a score of 1 mil or 10 mil the fastest possible, I think it can be interesting like u can kill all enemies, get all powerups, but don't care about 1ups

Is repeated long jumping really faster than building up P speed?
p speed is just as fast as longjumping, so by continuously long jumping, you go faster since you don't have to wait for speed

This would be a good thing but for the relentless amounts of RNG based luck. There's an RNG generating random 32 bit binary numbers that decide whether or not there are lifes in each stage. Research suggests higher numbers are more likely to contain lifes but there are significant outliers
I would like to see a run where you get to max score asap
