Top 5 Hikes in Kodiak - Termination Point - April 3rd, 2022

Termination Point is one of my top 5 hikes on Kodiak, Island. It is a relatively easy out and back hike thru the woods. Park at the north end of the road system at White Sands beach and take the coastal trail out for the best views along the way.

Lol I need to understand the ribbon party thing. I live here and am obviously not cool enough to know. I just see trail markers. Great video--I love that hike.

The "ribbon party" is part of the Navy Seal and KISAR (Kodiak Island Search and Rescue) compass and GPS courses. It denotes a destination that reveals 'secret' information in their maps. There are trees wrapped with ribbons (flagging tape) in various locations thru the woods.

Termination Point is the closest acessible spot to Monk's Lagoon and to Ouzinkie. I wonder if there was a lookout post there one day...
The Inside Trail has the stunning variety of green in early May, mosses, lichen, ferns et al. I wonder if you could capture all these hues with your camera? To prove the emeraldness of the Rock? :)

I was desperate to get out and put together a video. It wasn’t that bad in the woods and the weather made the waves more dramatic. There’s no such thing as ‘bad weather’, just bad gear choices… :-)
