Mr P. Chidambaram is very careful with his words even being an opponent to the current government he has very balanced view of tackling the questions and Mr Thapar as always being exceptional in performing his duties as a journalist.it was a delightful interview.Thank you wire for existing❤️

Chidambaram should have mentioned PM P V Narsimha Rao, or at least Karan Thapar should have.
Agreed, but he was heavily criticised during his tenure and even sidelined later by his own party. But, retrospective evaluations have been kinder, even positioning him as one of the best prime ministers of India in various polls and he led an important administration, overseeing a major economic transformation and several home incidents affecting national security of India
He is a Very decent man. Conducts himself in a very composed and dignified manner. On policy issues, whatever he is saying is making a lot of sense. He needs to communicate more with north indian public

Really got to respect the man's poise and the dignity with which he carries himself. Please remember this is at a time when the government of the day is hounding him and his family in a completely vindictive & gestapo-style campaign. I really hope for all our sakes that only the government of the day is majoritarian and not Indian society as a whole. Even if he is right, I'm not sure it's going to be that way for very long.

Mr. Thapar. Thanks for the video. Some valid points were made and I learnt much from it. My only criticism is that many difficult questions were avoided. To name a few would be about his son’s wealth and his own lack of initiatives in bringing transparency to party political funding. It hurts to see such a comfortable interview from the Wire. This is first time I felt content on Wire was comparable to others on the TV. Sorry if that sounds harsh. Thanks again.

How is GST a reform, Chidambaram ji, if it is responsible for job losses or lesser job growth? 90% of the jobs since 1991 were in the informal sector, which has been destroyed by GST and demonetisation. Why are BJP+Congress never speak about the deplorable role of GST when it comes to job growth? What provisions have been made to encourage job growth in the coming years? Why did Malaysia remove GST? Almost all modern economists do not seem to have any sense of right and wrong.
reform doesn't necessarily mean its positive or negative. it could be a failed reform or a successful reform. GST was initially a brainchild of UPA government which wanted to put the maximum rate at 18%. But BJP has now put 28% on certain goods which is completely unacceptable. However, GST itself will bring long term benefit if they can correct the brackets and rate.
Interesting (and surprising) how neither Karan Thapar nor Chidambaram in his PM ranking mentions Manmohan Singh, the immediate predecessor of Mr Modi.

As a layman, I really feel that the interview is shrewdly polarised. I'm not to comment on pros n cons of any govt but I strongly feel that Karan is looking like a congress' robot and absolutely palating every single dig made at Modi by Chidhambaram. Look at his face... He's absolutely delighted when chindhambaram spoke about questioning a random group people abt newer jobs created.
Much better policy on Kashmir. Hope this man becomes in a situation to handle the issue in 2019.
