While the Russians are destroying the scarce Ukrainians resources and manpower on this incursion , their frontlines in Ukraine are collapsing.
This was a very poor strategy by the West and Zelensky.

I predict Ukraine will withdraw from Kursk after coming to terms they cannot sustain the heavy losses fighting for the region.
Geolocation for frontlines in Kursk isnt viable since it doesnt have actual lines yet so every geolocated update should be taken with a Huge pinch of salt, since those videos can be days old and the posibilities of them being driven out soon after is high
Not to mention UA is basically using pirate/bandit tactics "hitting and running"...great for a PR exercise but not sustainable unless Russia voluntarily gives up territory, which is unlikely.
And there is also the possibility that Ukraine has advanced further.

If it were a trap, they would have advanced a small way into hidden prepared lines and been halted. this hasn't happened as it's a complete disaster, not a trap. There are no positions other than towns which can be bypassed. Go and learn about war and what happens when a blitzkrieg gets passed the defensive line and only towns remain as positions - then you will understand what is happening a lot better. For e.g. go and study why France fell so fast (hint - its due to what's happened here)

All good recruitment and western aid all year has gone towards this invasion. The east was receiving so little anyway and only the worst recruits it won't make a difference. Ukraine believe the east won't matter due to the capture of parts of Russia.
Hopefully they are wrong. But this is a LOT more serious than you think and will get a lot worse before it gets better. This will be going on into 2025 inside Russia absolutely certain.
Nearly all commenters here need to go and study previous wars and have a deeper understanding of what has happened in this war and the issues and weaknesses Russia has, not just read propaganda that they are amazing and invincible and you would understand what is happening a lot better.
Remember that the Germans thought they were invincible.
Russia are in a race against time to build and man an ongoing defensive line to encase Ukraine. Ukraine are trying to breach where it's being built before it's in place, forcing the effort to restart.
Ukraine have not been anywhere near as weak as propaganda has told us all year as that's been all based on the east - where only old men were sent and not properly supplied. The east was literally just slowing Russia to stop a breakthrough before the invasion.
The strategy and gamble actually makes sense and was BY FAR the best option available to Ukraine when Russia are so weak in the north. How easily Ukraine stopped the northern invasion by Russia should have been a sign but we ignored it and believed it was their goal to only take a tiny bit of land.
It's time to face up to reality. Not everything is a trap. War is war not a movie. A weakened side that is well supplied can still see huge success if they break through defensive lines. It's near impossible to stop a blitzkrieg when your only positions are foxholes and towns. That's why Germany were so successful.

The Germans have been absolutely clear about this- domestic technicians from the missile provider are necessary on-ground, for targeting. I would also be very much surprised if NATO did not permit F16 strikes to occur originating from their own territory. The issue is...wtf is behind this desire to get into a war where they've already given nearly all their materiel to Ukranus? They are also not long on personnel...and as soon as the gloves are off, their own soldiers will be getting deleted in their home countries with preemptive strikes.

The strange part is that attack and counterattack, means 10/15 men and a pair of vehicles, not thousand of people.
The Ukraine army doesn't need to just use roads. Until the rains start they are deep enough behind the front line that there are virtually no minefields and they can cut cross country whenever it suits them. This helps them to pop up from seemingly nowhere.

They have no dug in positions and under drone observation and are being constantly picked off, as the Russians establish more and more positions cutting across country is less and less possible. Eventually the battle will establish to the same sort as across the general front line and the Russians will cause so much attrition they will retake everything, how long it takes is more the question. Meanwhile action across the Ukrainian front continues and the Russians are still advancing and taking ground.

The writing is on the wall for the Kursk adventure sooner or later but it doesn't change the fact that this was a MAJOR oversight from the Russians. Whoever the military commander was who was responsible for that border region won't be in their position for very long if they are indeed still there.
When the Germans counterattacked in December 1944 in the Ardennes forests, was it a major oversight from the Allies? Did the Allied command feel ashamed? Eisenhower was fired? Germans counterattacked as late as March 1945 in Hungary...

As far as I understand it, russians in 1944 "allowed German forces" to go into kursk, and russians not attack first, and it was a trap as the russian general explained to Stalin.
Germans attacked first but were abused by russians and lost that expedition into Kursk front back in 1944.

What i dont understand is that the North force supposedely had 100 thousand men ready to begin the Kharkiv and Sumi offensive. The Kharkiv offensive from previous reports was executed by a force of 40 thousands troops .That leaves 60 thousand troops, to at least defend the borderline. Where are they? What happened? Ukranians involved something like 15 thousand troops in the Kousk offensive in total. Its ridiculous that they are still making small progress after 10 days.
