- Sonic 3 A.I.R. Mania Edition is not only an Ultimate Pack, but a collection of mods made by various creators.
Main feature here being Ultimate Mania Pack, made by the Chaos Team. Many others include Mania Title Screens (by EL MERCENARIO JT), Mania Eggman (by Snocgamer), Blue Glasses Eggman (by Sms8Powa), Mania Inspired Green AIZ Palette (by agnoristos), Mania Special Stage Ring (by Bluestreak), Mania Style Special Stage Results (by agnoristos), Mania Level Objects (by Snocgamer), Mania Elemental Shields (by Bluestreak), Mania Shield (by RonaTheRTD), Mania / Tri Amentia Music Pack (by CarJem), and Mania-Esque Invincibility (by RonaTheRTD).

Alright, truth be told I was undecided on what I was going to do, either do 1 story or just random gameplay, but honestly said screw it and went all out on both Sonic & Knuckles' stories 100%. There is 1 mod that didn't seem to work, that being Mania Level Objects, seems that only the rings were appearing just fine but others that should've appeared would be springs, checkpoints, and spikes.
With the Ultimate Pack, you got options based on Peelout Sprite & Sonic Palette (could be normal sprites or possibly super/hyper sprites). Recommended as well you have the Blue Glasses Eggman mod to get Mania Eggman to work.

I used to love playing this game as a kid on the megadrive... I don't even do video games now. just amazing to the spirit of these games still lives with all these fan makes and versions.
That's exactly what I would expect from Sonic 3 & Knuckles on Sonic Origins Collection, and sadly we know they wouldn't go the extra mile to upgrade the graphics.
Because it doesn't need to be upgraded. The sprites are already perfect.
They are supposed to be ports of the originals so they are more accesible to people who haven't played those games, not remakes, but if they were to make remakes then maybe they could upgrade them to look like mania

I haven't been able to find any of them, with the exception of Ice Cap Act 1 and Big Arms. (And that's not counting the ones that are already in Mania itself)
OK, Mushroom Hill basically GIVES you Hyper Sonic if you’re a master at the Blue Sphere Special Stages. Right as this man exited a Super Emerald Special Stage (that’s what I’m calling it) he was in another.
Yeah man, and even if you don't know every bonus ring location in mushroom hill, the average player should be able to have all of the super emeralds by the end of hydrocity zone.
Edit: I meant to say flying battery. IIRC there are 4 super rings in that stage.
Also I believe there are 6 big rings in the first act of Marble Garden. I only knew that because of the achievements where you have to collect all (or at least) 6 of the big rings in the first act.
@@UltraPlays2018 So in other words, if you can’t get the Emeralds then you are just really bad, since there is so many chances. The Super Emerald Stages are one thing but getting Perfects in the Chaos Emerald Stages are a bit more difficult but not too hard.
@@georgeshaw4017 I mean that's one way to put it lol but yeah I agree, trying to go for perfects in the Sonic 3 special stages can be a little more challenging. But do you really wanna know the special stage I despise the most? That dang 4th special stage in the Sonic and Knuckles portion of the game, you know the blue and yellow tile one where you go around in a square and launch yourself with the yellow launcher orbs. That one stresses me out everytime! lol
@@UltraPlays2018 I know right? That guy gave me so much trouble, especially trying to Perfect. The way I figured out how to do it is wait till you jump from before the ring and Bumper placement when it gets faster.
Quite amazing to see a Sonic 3 A.I.R mod on top of Mania. So glad to end off the week with a 2 hour and a half long play! this looks like a lot of fun. 3&K was always my favorite and mania didn't quite click for me as much as others.
Me neither. Sonic 1 Forever, Sonic 2 Absolute, and Sonic 3 Angel Island Revisited also knocked it out of the park. What’s great is the Sonic Forever Team and Sonic 3 Angel Island Revisited Team did something Christian Whitehead failed to do for Mania as well for the Classic Sonic Moveset. You can use the Mania Insta-Shield, and a buffed Dropdash that finally gives Super Sonic a Insta-Kill Attack, and specifically in Sonic 1 Forever (I think.) and Sonic 3 Angel Island Revisited, gives Hyper Sonic a Double Insta-Kill option after Hyper Flash. Oh yeah, you can use the Super-Peel-Out too. You never feel like you don’t have control over Sonic’s moveset. Once you get the hang of it, you will find yourself Insta-Sheild Dropdashing a lot.
In Mania you can only use one of those three without having to use Debug Mode and Debug Menu to do the same. You wanted all of them at once, separately by toggle? Too bad, you don’t get that in Mania.

This is the music they should have used for Carnival, Ice Cap and launch base in origins. I know it’s a rights issue. I feel it’s something they should have worked out before release. As cool as origins is, without the original music it’s missing a piece

They do have an option for the original Sonic 3 version of Knuckles' theme, yes. There is a mod that exists where it can specifically change the level order much like Sonic 3 Complete.
This mod is fantastic but I couldn't change the peelout sprites sadly

First off... how do I apply this mod? To the official game from the Steam store or something?
Second, there were more than TWO Special Stage Rings?! I didn't know that, I thought you could only get like the first 4 Super Emeralds from Mushroom Hill zone and then the next zone for Hyper Sonic and Knuckles and Super Tails.
Third, I think added the feature of the screen dimming when Hyper Sonic does his double jump blast to prevent seizures just in case. It doesn't bother me, but I think that might help to avoid some issues for others.
Other than that amazing mod! I love to play this.
