1.1mp, because my parents old digital cameras memory card died so I have to lower the resolution of the images to get more pictures, it's a 4mp but really a 3.98mp camera, doesn't sound good but it does better than my 13mp camera in my phone, I have my own digital camera that actually is a Nikon Coolpix but a newer one from 2014 with 20.1mp (really is 19.91mp) still getting used to it so I use both Cameras😂
Personally, 2.0mp. On my old Sony Ericsson W810i. I used to take snaps with that all the time and share them online. Not seen any of those old photos in years, dread to think how bad they look by todays standards haha
Been shooting with my d1h and still impressed. Colors are more important to me. Also if you shoot in hi-1 or hi-2 in black and white (3200 or 6400 iso) you get some fantastic grain. Similar to some films it feels.
fun fact, there's a slide/negative copy adapter for this camera. I still have this and the tele adapter, I used to have a lot of fun with it 5 years ago. Macro mode can even stunningly complete with today's cameras in some scenarios. The only problem is battery life, which doesn't last half a day
I didn't know about that! I did see the crazy large fisheye adapter that is attached to some gimbal system for panoramas or something. Little more than I wanted to spend on this camera though 😆 I do agree the macro mode is very nice 👍
@@snappiness there's even a hack to force a raw acquisition via diagnostic mode! It's a huge pain tho, as raw colors most of the time are innacurate and you have to convert the raw file to a usable dng
You are definitely one of the cool kids now man! 😁 I agree these old digicams can be a lot of fun. I still feel an irrational need to shoot "real" photos, so I've been sticking to ones that can do RAW and have at least ~10MP Still I should try to revive one of my old Minolta Dimages that are somewhere in a box though...
I agree around 10mp cameras started to get really capable, but still have some nice flavor. I really like my 10mp DSLRs. I'm on an 8mp kick right now and that has also been really good. Excited for your gx200!
@@snappiness Also I wanted to say--I know I'm old when I feel nostalgic about an era (early 2000s) when in that era I was already feeling nostalgic about other eras 😂
One thing I love about many of these old cams is how the sky is represented. Your third pic shows it off well. I have a Konica/Minolta Dimage G400 that produces a similar look. Even nicer via the in-camera monochrome filter. Looking forward to seeing your next cool old cam!
You remind me my first digital camera Nikon coolpix 995, it cost me 8 month’s salary and I love it so much,I still love the twist design, hope Nikon can bring this design to the new camara. the 995 lead me to the world of photography, now I have more than 30+ cameras and 200+ lenses. LoL
Thanks Matt - do you mean the 995? I couldn't find a 994. Anyway, the 995 looks like an interesting upgrade it a lot of ways. Cool you are using one too. I look forward to hearing thoughts and seeing pics if you happen to make a video about it.
@@snappiness yep the 995 (sorry, typo due to my sausage fingers lol). It was cool to see more twisty style digicams in existence. I'd love to try something a little smaller if I can find one on the dusty parts of the internet
I have Nikon Coolpix 950 and that is really sensitive to infrared. 720nm filter gives white trees and grass and orange/brown-ish sky. Looks really cool! Maybe the 990 is also! Thanks for your great videos! I got into infrared thanks to your Sony f828 video!
I love this channel, there's something satisfying about buying, receiving and using these classic early digital cameras, I'm currently chasing the Sony Cybershot V1, 5 megapixels of Pro quality produced art in the form of a camera. Check out the Sony H series, I've just aquired a mint H1, the ease of use and image results are amazing, till next time many thanks.
Thanks for the heads up! Besides my F828 and now F717 I haven't played with any other old Sony's or really know anything about them. Glad you're enjoying yours and I just may get my hands on one, one day ;)
Fun vid Snaps! The stranger the better! 4 mpxl is the smallest i will buy though, I think that 5-12 is the sweet spots for digi cams that are still viable. That being said, I am always on the quest to find the hidden gems.
Hello! Thanks for your amazing video! I just bought a Coolpix 990 and when I tried to transfer photos to some PCs it didn’t work (both with Mac and Windows). I still didn’t try to do it from the CF card, as I still didn’t buy an adapter for USB ports. Should it work on my Mac then? Do you have any tips? Thanks a lot!!
I haven't played much with Topaz labs but here great things. I've played a little with DxO's programs which I think are similar. It's amazing how they can breathe new life into some of these older cameras/old photos :)
@@snappiness Thank you! BTW I did a few tests to use rechargeable batteries on my camera as a form of upgrade. Modern LiOn AAs (I have ones that have microUSB ports in each battery) do not work very well (it's overkill for the camera, I guess) but your average store-bought rechargeable NiMH AAs work very well. Another upgrade I've done is re-using older SD cards with a CF adapter and it works well with card readers for mobile phones and modern laptops with USB C ports. These two minor upgrades gave the old girl a new lease on life. The next thing is fixing that door latch for the battery. It doesn't fully close at all. I think a Velcro strip could fix that issue.
Memory please work i think my little Coolpix was called the 995. I think I paid $1000. I do remember getting a 8x10 print from the Lab and really loving the quality 🤣

@@snappiness lol no probs, I think my parents had a 1 or 2mp camera before the Kodak around 2002 for my older siblings pictures back then, then probably Film before then😂

Very cool! I just got the slightly older version for $5 at a thrift store. It still had the original receipt for $900 in the box... 😳
That's awesome! And you got the original box too? Great find. Just fun to find little time capsules like that.
