Mine appears to be identical to yours other than caliber and scope. Mine is in 25/06, I don't remember the brand of 3X9 Scope that was on it when I bought it. And I'm too lazy to go up to the gun room and dig it out to find out. This rifle filled 3 holes on my wish list. I've wanted a Weatherby rifle, since I saw one hanging on the wall behind the bank manager's desk in the bank in Elsinore Kalifornia when I was in the 2nd grade, I'm 72 now. I never had a 25/06 or a Howa built rifle. So like I said 3 holes on the list. Yup, especially when you got some rifles, in price categories they don't belong in. I tell people, if they are shopping for Ruger Americans(not that they are bad), that if the price is similar to the Vanguard or Howa, then get those instead. In normal times, really the Ruger A should be under $400. Used to see them $280 range here and there. Who knows what normal will be in future though. They way high now.
@@Hill_Billy_Without_A_Hill agreed. I bought my son a Ruger American. 243 compact and its a tac driver. Serves its purpose as its light and we don't have to worry about scratches and wear as much as an expensive gun.. Bergaras are more accurate yet at that price point. Weatherby tends to use thinner barrel profiles, which heat up fast and start throwing shots. But they’re good for hunting and saving a little weight.

That's probably ( my opinion) one of the best rifle and round combinations around. 270 with a 130 gr bullet is a flat shooting SOB that'll drop deer, pig, bear and even elk. It's a workhorse.
@The Weapon Collection Yes sir, have taken Elk, Black Bear, and Caribou with .270 Win 145gr Hornady EDL-X. Shot placement, shot placement, shot placement. Lol...
Appreciate your upfront honest review. I’ve been researching and got my varmint rifle narrowed down to the .223. Knowing o wouldn’t be using it daily I didn’t want to spend big bucks nor did I want to take a chance of a flimsy composite stock because getting a decent wooden stock rifle under $1000, in todays world, walnut is an exception and after finding this Vanguard Sporter, it’s exactly what I’m going to buy. Thanks again
Weatherby Vanguards (Howa 1500) with the new 2 stage HACT trigger are wonderful. They're all guaranteed sub-moa. No plastic to speak of. One piece solid bolt with a twist off back that makes bolt cleaning and maintenance super easy. No cheap barrel nut. Flat bottom machined receiver - no bar stock here! They have the far superior M-16 style extractor rather than the cheaper ball detent style. They're extremely high quality firearms!
I know a man with a .30-06 Vanguard. He has had it for years. It shoots where it is aimed. It is reliable. It looks good. He bought it used for a price you wouldn't believe. What else could anyone want from a stock rifle?
I have a 40 year-old Vanguard Deluxe in 300 WBY. with an old steel tube Weaver 3-9x40. It shoots 1 inch or beter groups at 100 yards with Weatherby factory 180 grain psp. The bullets are Hornady Interlock and are deadly on deer and elk. Year after year no mater what weather conditions the the rifle shoots to point of aim. It is a beautiful rifle.
BEAUTIFUL rifle. I want either a Weatherby or a CZ in .243Win. I think these rifle compliment well with reloaded ammo for what they are. Although they shoot factory very well too I heard.
I have a .257 Weatherby, .270 WSM and a .270. Added Timney triggers to all three because I didn't like the stock trigger. These are great guns, generally accurate with a high quality build. They feel old school in the best sense of the word.
You are just so wholesome. I was torn between trying to get one of these, a Winchester M70 Super, or see if I could find a Weatherby Mk.V Sporter and saw people crapping all over the Vanguards as they're just Howa 1500s in Weatherby furniture. I wanted to see a real person review one and I know you are just a normal guy. I'm glad you like yours and if I end up getting one I now feel comfortable I'll get a good hunting rifle out of it.
Mine in 308 does very good. I was messing around with it with some hand loads, and I stretched it out to 600 yards. Just my hunting rifle but it really did good at long range, I was impressed. Great video
I've got a Vanguard II with polymer stock. Specifically for deer hunting. On a bench using quality ammo, the holes touch at 100 yards. Have a Nikon prostaff on it. decent quality nothing crazy. It is a great shooter and.....i have no issue dragging it thru the woods.
I really like my Weatherby Vanguard series 2 in 300 Weatherby magnum. I wish Who Tee Who would compare a rifle in 300 winmag vs 300 weatherby mag, vs 300 remington ultra mag, & tell us how much higher he has to aim the winmag to hit the same target as the other 2. Go out to around 500 yards because 100 yards is too close for these rounds.
@@christiangivens4340 make sure you get the right fitting. You’ll love your gun after, but just know it’ll change your point of impact and it’ll be louder.
I learned something new from the comments here today. The tap it with brass to smack it or bump the butt stock. I've had a scope do that to me and found a loose mount. Then I had one that was just so far out I loosened everything and retightened according to the windage and that brought it in. Both of those the rifles came with the scope. If I don't put the rings on and bed the scope myself I can't be sure it's right, especially if it doesn't act right. Still, some good shootin from a beautiful rifle. Thanks for sharing this video with us!
My personal opinion is, that the Vanguard is the best entry level ish rifle on the market. Up here in Canada they sell for around $700 , and a Savage Axis and Ruger Americans go for about $ 650 so it’s really a no brainer. I do think though that your Vanguard being such a beautiful firearm, that it’s deserving of a much nicer scope, a Vortex Diamondback HP 4-16 ZOOMS would look good, just saying!
All ways heard good things on these guns, just never owned one. I’m going to say yes, it’s a good one. Gods speed to Who Tee Who and family 👍🇺🇸WTW the 🔫🎥👑

I have a 257 Wby in a s2 Vanguard and a 300 Wby in Vanguard also. Walnut stock on my 300 and synthetic on my 257. 300 shoots 3/4 with 190 and 210 LRAB and 200g LRX. 257 is a tack driver. Love the Wby rifles and calibres
I have had a Vanguard all synthetic in 7RemMag for 20yrs, and it still shoots sub 1/2” groups. I have taken many many whitetail with that rifle, and out of all my rifles, it is one that my boys fight over getting one day.
The Vanguard is one of the best guns in its price range. The action and barrel are made by Howa, who make incredibly accurate barreled actions for reasonable money. I have a Howa in 6.5 PRC that shoots 1/2" groups with Hornady Match 147gr ELDM. I wouldn't mind a Vanguard for deer hunting, especially with a beautiful wood stock like that. Eye candy when it's sitting in the gun cabinet.
Smith & Wesson rifles also use Howa barreled actions., I have a Vanguard Ibex in a 257 weatherby, I love it and it shoots sub 1 moa group's all day. I like 100 grain ballistic tip bullets, traveling at 3650 fps muzzle velocity. It's my favorite deer and pronghorn cartridge and rifle
I bought myself a Vanguard S2 about 5 years ago in 30-06. First nice rifle I ever bought myself. I got spoiled with that trigger compared to the old Mossberg ATR and Savage Axis type rifles I used to buy all time. Lol
I have had a Vanguard .270 synthetic for over 18 years and have killed piles of deer and hogs. The rifle shoots sub MOA with just about any ammo. I use it in all kinds of weather with zero rust and the bore is a clean as the day it rolled off the line. Go ahead and spend 3 to 4 times as much for less. I will keep my Vanguard.
when you did the first batch of adjustment and then wondered why the next batch went higher, you mentioned that you were holding bottom of the plate prior to adjustment, then you adjusted to the centre, and held centre on the next batch. You moved it down enough if you'd sighted centre, not sighted at the bottom of the plate.
That is probably the most underrated rifle on the market. They’re built on the Howa 1500 barreled action, Hammer forged bolt, action and barrel, high quality, low price! Put a good sight on that might be your favourite rifle.
I have 2: 7-08 and 223 in a beautiful wood stock. I love the Monte Carlo stocks. Almost bought a CZ lux in 223 but scoping issues stopped me mid purchase. (Got the cz 527 in a x39 carbine instead.)
I've never owned one but they sure look nice and I bet they perform well. That looks like a real nice setup. And, big fan of 270 win. Shot a few deer with that cartridge. It does the job real well.
I have a synthetic stock vanguard circa 1988 that’s lights out. Bluing isn’t great and has rubbed off in a few places but use it in Pacific Northwest Rains every year and not a spec of rust. That slick bolt gobbles up cartridges like a hungry hungry hippo. I remember when A-Bolts caught popularity… couldn’t believe people paid more than $100 for that sticky action. $300 is a steal for any Vanguard, especially walnut stock. Hope you upgrade that scope to something in the $300-$500 range. Thanks for the vid.
I bought a used Weatherby Vanguard years ago. It's the black plastic stock, or whatever it's made of. It's a 30-06 and has digested a lot of handloaded ammo and brought home a lot of meat both deer and elk. I've certainly got nothing bad to say about it and can give it much admiration.
The vanguard's were garunteed to shoot 3/4 inch groups out of the box , I have the synthetic stocked one in 270, it shoots winchester xp ammo into 1/2 3 shot groups. You're stock is beautiful and the blueing is fantastic . Thx for sharing Wtw
When I turned 15 in 1970 my Dad bought me a Vanguard in 30-06 with a Bushnell scope. Years later we finally figured the scope was junk so I bout a Zeiss 3x9 scope. Still have the rifle today. Deer and elk killing machine. 165 gr Nosler Partitions on top of 4831 powder. A full case. I’ve never worried about ballistics under 400 yards. Just works great!
I own a vanguard stainless with a comp stock 300 win mag and I’d say it performs flawlessly !! Trigger /bolt is crisp not as smooth n crisp as my weatherby mark v. It’s not garbage ! It performs , my son a Usmc Officer says he loves both of em. 😂He’s a marine shooter for sure 🥁🔥. Plus bolt stays locked when hunting unlike others I’ve had drop a round while walking on shoulder … no bullet no shot !

This Weatherby Vanguard is very impressive. There is not much riffle like the Vanguard that have such a high quality, amazing accuracy, and very affordable. I have a Vanguard Sporter 30-06, a synthetic .308, and the wood stock is beautiful. Since I have been hunting with the Vanguard, there has no deer escaped from it sight. My next goal in life is to own one Weatherby Mark V.
Love your content keep it up. I would like to see some scope reviews if you get to it. I'm also looking to get a 25 06, what would be an average cost in these times?
I own 2 weatherby vanguard rifles. One in 270 and one is 308. They are both sub MOA rifles. For the money these rifles cannot be beat IMO. I deliberately selected a very common brand of ammo in the event of a road trip and required ammo. I picked Rem Core Lokt ammo. If you need a bolt action hunting rifle on a budget consider the Weatherby Vanguard. My 270 win weatherby is my go to rifle. Never fails me.
According to my old Marlin sighting-in guide a 270 130 gr. bullet at 3140 fps you could sight in at 28 yards and it will return to zero at 240 yards. It should be 2.25 in. high at 100 yards and 4.25 in. low at 300 yards. It has a good point blank range. If you us this method every shot at 28 should be inside the 10 otherwise at distance they will be way off. This method does work and saves ammo.
The down side of cheap scopes is that the adjustment isnt that accurate. When I was younger all but the best scopes were like this. Some times you would do the clicky thing and the point of impact wouldnt shift at all Then you would give them a couple more clicks and it was way too much. I always used to give the scope turret a few taps to help it settle or fire a few rounds.
Got a pure stainless one ( it rains a lot in Oregon on the coast range come hunting season ) with the black composite stock. Only up grade I did to it was adding a Timney Trigger now it has about a 2 pound trigger pull. Mine has the flat comb butt stock instead of the big hump Weatherby style. Mine is in .243 Winchester and is super accurate. Great Coyote gun out to 300 yards + While these were made in Japan they are very well made.
I’ve owned Vanguard series 1 for going on 20 + years, very smooth and accurate. I would put my money on another Vanguard before any other brand of bolt action rifle.
I've got the 300wby Weatherby vanguard Delux. It's real fancy. The gloss on it is so deep and the barrel has deep gloss on it like this one. Mine has a floor plate. So must be a later model. I think it looks tad fancier than this one. Nice
I have the same in 30-06 and my brother has one in 300 weatherby magnum, we can’t fault them both guns shoot extremely well and we zeroed them at 300 meters

Beauty, poetry, I want one! Awesome video Who-Tee-Who! My gyro doctor was talking about one just the other day. Thank you.
Beautiful rifle! But mounting that scope on there, is like mounting a luggage rack on a corvette! It dont go there!
Some of older Vettes had factory luggage rack on the back..LOL.
Here here, at least top her with something from Redfield or Burris.
BEAUTIFUL rifle. I want either a Weatherby or a CZ in .243Win. I think these rifle compliment well with reloaded ammo for what they are. Although they shoot factory very well too I heard.
I appreciate you taking the time to do these videos. Thanks bro.
Appreciate you watching!
I have a .257 Weatherby, .270 WSM and a .270. Added Timney triggers to all three because I didn't like the stock trigger. These are great guns, generally accurate with a high quality build. They feel old school in the best sense of the word.
I've never fired one but the ones I've had the opportunity to hold were beautiful rifles. Peace from Shelbyville!!!
Try tapping on your scope after adjustments,it may save you some ammunition and help cheap scopes to settle in before next round is fired.
You should shoot at least two shots after adjusting the scope or maybe even three. I have found not to shoot and adjust. It just doesn’t work.
They are good guns.A friend of mine has one he’s had for years in 270.
I have a Vanguard in 270 and it’s been my go to “meat gun” for over 20 years. Elk, Whitetail, Blacktail and Muleys... I love it...
Prostaff is a good one
I have a 270 sporter and 270 Vanguard II and a Vanguard I synthetic stock in 30-06. Great rifles, you get a lot for your money.
Me too😀
Any way to reduce the recall on the 300 winmag?
@@christiangivens4340 muzzle brake
@@edgarlombera7066 Thanks I'll order one
Gods speed to Who Tee Who and family 👍🇺🇸WTW the 🔫🎥👑
I am gonna say it is a good one too 😆
I have that rifle chambered in 300 WBY all in all it's my favorite rifle. It's an absolute tack driver! Great video!!
I love that... "That was a train wreck of a 'sighting in video'" 😄 I usually end up clicking the wrong direction too. Great review. I'm sold, especially by all the comments below from amazing viewers with a wealth of knowledge and experience
I have a Weatherby 308, synthetic stock.
Suppressed and love it. Weatherby is a great weapon
The Howa 1500 which is basically the same rifle, both made by Howa in Japan are excellent rifles. I have never seen one that wasn’t a great shooter.
Hey man, thanks for making this. Im planing on buying one of these in .308 WIN.
I think the scopes bad and your going crazy!
A little bit of both.
I fought with a couple bad scopes and that taught me to appreciate the simplicity and reliability of iron sights.
when you did the first batch of adjustment and then wondered why the next batch went higher, you mentioned that you were holding bottom of the plate prior to adjustment, then you adjusted to the centre, and held centre on the next batch.
You moved it down enough if you'd sighted centre, not sighted at the bottom of the plate.
Thanks for saying this, I didn't want to be the only one who noticed that.
That is probably the most underrated rifle on the market. They’re built on the Howa 1500 barreled action, Hammer forged bolt, action and barrel, high quality, low price! Put a good sight on that might be your favourite rifle.
I have a smith and wesson 1500. Same rifle as the vanguard. Shoots very well. Leupold vII 3x9. 180gr bullets. Usually one inch.
I have 2: 7-08 and 223 in a beautiful wood stock. I love the Monte Carlo stocks. Almost bought a CZ lux in 223 but scoping issues stopped me mid purchase. (Got the cz 527 in a x39 carbine instead.)
I always go with Bushnell for my cheap scopes. Usually turns out pretty ok. Weatherby doesn’t make crap. That’s crazy talk.
I've never owned one but they sure look nice and I bet they perform well. That looks like a real nice setup. And, big fan of 270 win. Shot a few deer with that cartridge. It does the job real well.
I have only taken one deer with 270. Ran about 40 yards with a good lung shot
@@WHOTEEWHO Nice. The last two I shot with 270 dropped where they stood. Always a good feeling.
I got a Weatherby Vanguard in 30-06. Just like yours, but not laquerd finish. I love that rifle.
Just ordered one in .243, can’t wait to pick it up.
Thanks for watching Richard
It's an exceptional rifle. Imo, it's worthy of a nice scope. Your scope seems to hold zero fine but the turrets and the tracking seems a bit funky.
I have a Weatherby Vanguard in 300 WBY. It's a really nice rifle. Good trigger, good stock. Only paid $489
I own a 7mm-08 Weatherby Vanguard. They are outstanding and reasonably priced.
Guys and gals, if you don't mind, Im in severe pain in my knees. I am in need of double knee replacement. If you all would not mind, please lift me uo in prayer for healing. I greatly appreciate this channel and I appreciate everyone of you. Especially WTW!!!! THANKS SO MUCH. May GOD richly bless all of you.
Brilliant rifles I've had the pleasure of shooting a few of them they're hard to beat unless you want to spend another 2k
I agree
@@Ron-Swanson I don't think the He really meant another 2K..That would be lot of rifle with lot of carbon..lol and SOME with even an under MOA guarantee, from the box. But Weatherby does make /or others for Weatherby/ great rifles and shotguns..no doubt..
That is one of the finest rifle makers!!! Just take a look on the stock finish and Bluing😎👍
Very nice rifle WTW and good shooting. The scope is prob your only issue on that Cadillac! Thanks for sharing brother!🤘🏽🍻
When sighting in a sccoe I have learned to tap on the scope with something solid but not to scratch to make sure the adjusting mechanism isn't stuck.
Almost all rifles looked like that (glossy wood and bluing) when I was a kid. Nostalgic, cool rifle.
I love your vanguard! That is the next gun I am going to buy.
I like it
If you have a steady rest you can shoot and with out moving the rifle look through the scope and adjust the cross hairs to the bullet hole.
Love your content keep it up. I would like to see some scope reviews if you get to it. I'm also looking to get a 25 06, what would be an average cost in these times?
Thanks Dale, for helping us all enjoy another video by Who Tee Who. Gods speed to ya Dale. 👍🇺🇸
🙌🙌🙌 bug thanks to Dale
Every weatherby I ever shot was a great rifle. You have a great selection of rifles. 👍👍👍👍
Love this weatherby
I own 2 weatherby vanguard rifles. One in 270 and one is 308. They are both sub MOA rifles. For the money these rifles cannot be beat IMO. I deliberately selected a very common brand of ammo in the event of a road trip and required ammo. I picked Rem Core Lokt ammo. If you need a bolt action hunting rifle on a budget consider the Weatherby Vanguard. My 270 win weatherby is my go to rifle. Never fails me.
I bought a Weatherby Vanguard chambered in 25.06 in 1983, I gave $475.00 for it used. It was the nicest rifle that I have ever bought.
I have a newer vanguard in 257 weatherby mag and it is a wonderful rifle . Amazing trigger factory and accurate
Beautiful wood & bluing on that Van ! Please put a Leupold or Burris on it.
My 300 Weatherby/vanguard, was my favorite favorite rifle. Lost it in the fires!
Beautiful rifle! And 270 win is a helluva caliber. I have 2 vanguards, with timney triggers, some of the most accurate rifles I’ve ever shot! 👍
I know 2 people that have 300 weatherby vanguards really nice rifles they have had really good luck with them
The down side of cheap scopes is that the adjustment isnt that accurate.
Nice
I have the same in 30-06 and my brother has one in 300 weatherby magnum, we can’t fault them both guns shoot extremely well and we zeroed them at 300 meters
those plate targets are a great idea
Weatherby Vanguard are great rifles our 22 -250 model is spot on every time ,head shots at 150m no problems, once you got the scope sited in its spot on , your .270 is a beautiful rifle the Barrel looks like a 24 inch , Cheers Mate, Regards Trevor.W.Bacelli. Biloela Qld Australia.
my LGS has a 270 weatherby vanguard just like the one you have. Its nice looking and smooth as well
I have never been able to use a center point scope on a center fire rifle. Because the scope was all over the place.
