Airstream ..Polishing a 1977 20' Argosy Motorhome. Removing Oxidation

I have a question for you. I have a 1978 argosy that had to have the paint job removed before I could actually start On the polishing. My question is, did you also have to deal with the paint removal and if so what grit did you take it up to before you started using the air wheel? Appreciate your time!

Hi! I did not have to remove paint or clear coat on this one, but I did on a 70 trailer. I have tried many different ways to get to that mirror shine! It’s BRUTAL!
Let me check my notes regarding sanding. “Rosie” here was my first attempt and started right off with the air wheel and a Tripoli stick.

LOOK.. these things are built with Alclad sheets..like airplanes. A thin coating of pure aluminum, protects the alloy underneath from corrosion. Idiots who remove that outer coating are dooming the airstream to slow death. This looks like a Douche Bag Demolition Derby to me. Besides which..what makes an Argosy NOT an airstream..besides the cheaper interior..is the fact the the End Caps are Steel..can't Polish That !! More idiots are attacking airstreams trying to make a buck..and making a mess, than carter had pills.
