- This week on The KOKO Show we take you on a necessary journey of self-discovery and spiritual enlightenment. We are joined this week by a man that consistently played footy at the highest level and then after retirement decided to live at an even higher one. He has played 52 caps for the Springboks and he was the ‘legend face’ of Toulon Rugby, a man that draws you in with his warmth and unwavering energy, it is of course the father of flow and the patron of ‘pura vida’, Mr Joe van Niekerk. In this week’s episode the KOKO Crew get taken in a slightly different direction, we delve into the trials and tribulations of life after footy and what it means to find your ‘self’ post retirement.
With all that being said we still found time to dish you up a “succulent Chinese meal” of TRC content as we break down the Wallabies second defeat at the hands of the Green Machine in Perthfotein. Plus, we have a little gander at how the All Blacks took Los Pumas to the Garden of Eden and showed them how the big boys play. On top of all this yummy podtent, MYER is back in the fold presenting you with another deliciously fashionable instalment of ‘Match Fit’ and our dear friends at MANSCAPED AU allowed swoop to go hammer and tong at Biv’s bits.
So find your flow, open up your mind's eye and let this white light podcasting excellence fill your every orifice. This week we are aligning your chakras, whilst derailing everything else. It’s time for Kick Offs and Kick Ons.

Saved me $50, thanks lads 😘
Set up a hair donation and we'll be able to make Prof a wig
I do think you lads are only a few pods from exploding. The humor is underrated as well as the fact 3 former wallabies sharing stories and talking all things rugby. Love it
Exploding where sorry?
Yea the momentum is picking up now🎉
This might be the best guest ever on the KOKO
Think Johnny Wilkinson was up there too
Stirling Mortlock has been the best so far
@@davsavchav yeah but I think it was the old podcast
Joe van Niekerk what a wonderful inspiration for ourselves and future generations to come thankyou The KoKo Show
Kick Offs and Kick Ons: The Spiritual Edition.
Loved it! 🙌
What a legend Big Joe is.!!
The best! I was in high school with Joe, he was a year above us and was our prefect next door to us in hostel when we were in Grade 11. I can 100% vouch that he is completely authentic and his heart hasn't changed at all in the past 25 years. He's totally and genuinely this guy
This is a awesome show I always watch it after my cancer treatment every week and it makes my day Thanks
As a Bok fan I was a huge fan of Joe van Niekerk back in the day. I agree with the guys about Joe's energy. Was a captivating interview from start to finish.
I think French Toulon rugby supporters from 2009 until 2014 loved BIG Joe who became Captain Joe then Jungle Joe more than springbok supporters. I think they would have voted him in for Mayor of Toulon had he remained in France after retiring instead of moving to the jungles of Costa Rica. He was the best captain Toulon ever had and became so fluent in French all of his press conferences and media interviews whilst playing there were conducted in French. It was fantastic to see him become the only south african rugby player so far to be inducted into a european clubs rugby hall of fame. He should have played more than 52 tests and so deserved to be a world cup winner in 2007 had he not been injured just before the tournament. I still think he remains the only springbok player to make the national team without 1st playing any senior provincial rugby, he went straight from the SA under 21's into the senior springbok team aged 21.
What a great reunion! I loved that Toulon team of around 2010-2014. Like a United Nations superstar collective. Joe, Wilko, Gitteau, Bakkies, Drew, Hayman, Juan Smith, Sheridan... man, that team had everything. I remember some people back home here in South Africa being a bit salty at the idea of our top players becoming mercenaries, because we were maybe a little late to the global game party. But this generation really normalised the professional aspect of the game. After okes like Matfield, Bakkies and Habana did it, it had to be okay. Great to see Joe so happy. Keep up the good work - your podcast is lekker.
Seriously okes….what a podcast!!! Crack on!!!
Great show gents, , Big Joe is such Legend! Come to London, would definitely come see the show live.
Easily one of the most entertaining shows up there with Box office lol. Great job guys
KOKO is no.1 for banter
@@PB22559nope KEO and Zels are. They give no fcuks
Pox office
@@CrimsonMF Don't watch it then lol
@@alistairclifton1286 i dont
First time watching the show last time out with Boks Office, the lads on this show are brilliant, as players they were special and pundits hilarious but still deliver brilliant points. Wallabies will improve under Schmidt, think his ability to overhaul Aus union is to get the backing from the Nation and understanding. Set high expectations but understand that this team is developing, involving Schmidt at a provincial level might help your 2027 campaign too. Respect from SA.
Love it, from Perth 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
Swoop does not do much.... But when he does something it's priceless!
Joe was so under rated as a springbok , he should have been our 1st 100 test loose forward if we actually had coaches who stuck with him
Big Joe is such a legend! Lets go.
Great show okes so good to see big Joe .
From SA...I worked with some Aussies for years...just loved the banter of those guys and enjoy the same here...easily one of my best channels

55:30 Mitchell's running on his 2005 debut was incredible. That was a rough game though, Carter broke his leg and Elton Flatley got concussed into retirement.
Yeah! The boys 😊
Great guest.. loved it... well played gents..👌👌
Gee Joe played a massive game against the ABs Ellis Park early noughties we won easily. Joe carried the ball all day against Mehrterns what a game. Marius Joubert got a hatrick. Joe was immense.

KES legend!
Joe looks like he enjoys a bit of the devil's lettuce 😂😂 no judgement, so do I 😂😁
Joe should start a mentorship program for young rugby players, get some big names on board which will help give them meaning post professional rugby!
At times it was if Johann VN was like God looking down on his disciples …spreading truth and love …what a guy

100% agree with what Joe said toward the end about getting the likes of Gits involved to drive a bit around what it means represent the Wallabies.
