Looks like another winner to look into. Thank you for the drone shots, that helps a lot to envision the area. KJ's sounds like the place to go! - Jim & Michelle
Another excellent boondocking review - you guys do the best! Love the detail about the amenities and details of the camping areas! This area is on our list to visit and this is going to be super helpful..
I used to run through Alpine Juction a lot driving semi’s. KJ’s used to have a nice Mexican Restaurant and you had room to park several semi’s. It had changed to an Italian Bistro. Beautiful part of the country.
We did see a lot of semis parked out back in the gravel area. It's interesting because the google map view appears to be from years and years ago because the place looks like a completely different gas station. We never did get a chance to try the resturant. We would have prefered the Mexican..8)
Thank you so much for doing these! We have boondocked pretty extensively over the years, but went full time in a diesel pusher a few months back. It can be hard reading between the lines on iOverlander or Campendium - Some folks ideas of accessibility can be very different than our own, and a couple snapshots of a campfire don't really give you a great idea of what you're getting into either. This is perfect.
Our pleasure! Thank you for taking the time to comment and let us know how it is helpful for you. We really enjoy doing the campsite reviews so you can expect to continue to see more. Just incase you didn't see we do have an interactive map on our website with all the campsite reviews we have done. www.thewanderingshores.com Thanks again, Wander On- Kyle and Michelle
that campsite to the left when you pulled into palisades you do not want to stay in. it seems no matter what time of year it is mosquitos are bad in that spot. of course we had to find out the hard way our first time there. moved in about 5 mins flat to another spot. 🤣🤣🤣. i was amazed to see that they finally mowed down all the tall grass. when we were there in july as this is our overnight spot when heading out to wyoming, that crap was knee high and made it impossible to camp anywhere. we ended up staying across from the bathrooms. eww. 🤣. being in the eastern part of idaho, it gets really freakin cold there with lots of snow. we never knew about camping behind melvins, seems like it would be too windy in that spot being right on the snake. if you want really good mexican food in alpine, la cabana del tequila has really good food in huge portions. reasonably priced too. another one of our stops on our way out. ✌️❤️😁
Thats great intel on the mosiqutos, some of our friends stayed there earlier in the year and said the mice were out of control, I imagine if the grass was longer then too that did not help. Thanks for the info on La Cabana we do love our mexican food. Thanks for your support, it is very much apprecaited.- Kyle and Michelle
Criminally underrated area. Breathtakingly beautiful in the fall!
