⚘ WAR EAGLE FALL FESTIVAL is coming up next month. Talk about a colorful setting, big, fun time! Ozark crafts, food, entertainment spread out on he many acres surrounding the mill on both sides of the big creek. Beautiful part of the world, near Bentonville and world class museum, near Civil War site at Pea Ridge, near beloved, Victorian spa town, Eureka Springs too!
I remember when I was a child, my parents would often go on a "Sunday drive." They'd sometimes have a destination in mind but often just drive and take unknown backroads enjoying the beautiful country side. People don't seem to do this any more. It's a very fond memory of mine and I'm sure younger kids of today would enjoy it too if people would just do it. I live in Louisville, Ky and most of the time, we'd drive up into Indiana which is just across the river from Louisville. We often visited a griss mill located in Metamora, Indiana. So quaint and they too had small shops you could browse around. Very fond memories! Thanks for taking us along!
We did that too on Saturday afternoons. We would usually just fill up with gas because we knew everything would be closed on Sunday, get a Coca Cola (our only one for the week, most of the time) and a little candy then just ride in whatever direction Daddy took a notion...on gasoline that was only 29.9 cents a gallon, of course!
Wow same here, My dad had a station wagon after church on Sundays we go home eat dinner and Daddy said he's going to take us out for a ride and we knew that meant a joyride We were going to have so much fun We going to stop for ice cream, buy junk food just have a nice time together . My parents were awesome It was just a time that it was good to be alive in the '70s ♥️
Wow. I live in Nicholasville Kentucky, was born in Jeffersonville , Indiana and raised in Kokomo, Indiana. Left Indiana in 1979 to move to Albany, Kentucky and now live in Nicholasville. I still have family in English, Tazewell and Birdseye Indiana. I loved going berry picking with my granny in English. My idea of a good time and a lot of other peoples are two different things. Give me back the simpler times. Pray for our country! 🇺🇸🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🇺🇸
I love War Eagle Mill. When I was a little kid, my father preached in the Ozarks around the Walnut Ridge area. We used to stop at the mill for fresh ground grains. Of course, it was much smaller then. LOL. The only building was the grist mill which had the store right inside it on different floors, if I remember right. Seems like I remember going up a circular staircase that was wrapped around the grist mill itself, but I was little. I might have made that part up. Thank you for the drive. It brought back such memories-especially those bridges, I might have teared up a little bit. When I was a kid, not even in school yet, the grist mill was still a working mill. If it was grinding when we went in, a man there would hand me a scoop and let me fill my own bag out of the bin-hopper? You don’t forget something as special as that. As an adult, I took my husband there one year for the autumn festival. It was still beautiful but I hardly recognized the place. It has grown so much. Thank you for taking me back to my childhood.
Beautiful country. It looks a lot like here. My husband’s grandfather built and ran a mill here on our farm until his untimely death (his chest was crushed by a team of spooked mules at the mill) at the age of 42. We had the mill torn down (sadly). it had a huge metal wheel.
Your trip brings back memories from the 1980’s. A group of us young mothers went to the War Eagle craft fair in the pouring rain. We put on plastic bags over our clothes and shoes and all the cars got stuck in the mud. It was quite an adventure and we had a great time.
That craft fair is Still going on. It happens every spring and every fall. I'll be headed there next month with my two friends. back in the 80's my mom and my aunt both had booths at the fair.
We live in Fall River Tennessee and grew up around a five story grits mill. The owners now have the mill up and running again and had the creek cleared out to turn the big wheel. Such a beautiful sight!
My favorite part was watching ya’ll have so much fun! I’ve been to War Eagle, and I loved the experience. When you said I could order online, I went out and ordered a bread proofing bowl, a bread warmer, an artisan bread lame, and the cutest pink pig that you keep bacon grease in! Lol Can’t wait to get them!! ♥️🙏🏼♥️
So happy you, two can do a little traveling and are enjoying the scenery of the Ozarks! You work hard, are frugal with your resources, and now enjoy what the LORD has created! 🥰👏👏
I went with my husbands entire family - 4 cars - to visit Yellville over 40 years ago. We wanted to visit the place my FIL lived up on a 'hill' in the woods. He lived alone most of the time when he was very little - won't go into details but it was horrible and yet he valued the memory of that place so much as he shot squirrel to eat, climbed up the 'hill' to a spring for water, and enjoyed life there. We all loved the area, the river, and the people. The current owners remembered him and let us go to the old homestead and the old barn were still there after over fifty years had passed. It was the best time ever for the whole family and the two grandsons were almost the same age as Grandpa when he lived there - 9 & 10 yo. They dared each other to go into the cave that the spring was flowing out but they just couldn't do it and Grandpa laughed so hard and finally told them he never could, either. We went over the strawberry bridge on the way home. It was the really old wooded one that we went on very slowly AFTER we witnessed a car make it over - so many holes in the wood planks to drive on. We found out the old bridge was being replaced and they had routed us over the Really Old bridge until the replacement was done. I took a picture of the holes we went over - looking down into the strawberry river. Still scares me to think about it. Trip of a lifetime! The country there is another world - so beautiful. Just ordered some Anastazi beans - can't wait to try. them and plant some!
What a delightful driving trip. Those types of trips are so much fun. Just let the wind take you and enjoy. I loved the War Eagle Mill tour. Thank you so much for sharing.
I’ve been to DeQueen Arkansas when I was a young girl. Absolutely Beautiful. I couldn’t believe the different types of Birds I saw. Had never seen such beautiful birds
Get out, enjoy one another's company, change of scene. It seldom get's much better than that!. Beautiful country and Thank You both for taking me along on the journey.
The beautiful country side ! The grist mill was beautiful also . As I get older I appreciate beauty in all things . Thank You so much for sharing. And I love the ending of your video, you an Mr.Brown together you all look so Sweet . Again thank you 💛💛💛💛🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻💛💛💛💛
What a beautiful area you visited. I just love seeing historic areas and learning the history. I do agree with you MS Lori.. I can just sit out in the lawn chair and watch and love nature. Blessings to you both!!
The Ozark mountain and hills were beautiful. The Eagle Mills store, loved the ceramic platters and dish towels, and the wind chimes you chose, sounded very nice and were beautiful. Most of all Ms. Lori, your calm voice was perfect for narrating the drive about. I'm sure you've guessed by now, that I enjoyed the video. You and Mr.Brown be blessed.
I just loved goin on the drive with y'all. The countryside is beautiful. It was so nice to go inside and see what they sold in the mill too. Thanks for taking us along.
Hello Ms. Lori and Mr. Brown, Thank you for taking us on this trip with you, I just loved everything you showed us, felt like I was there with you would like to see more of your escapades, love your youtube channel, and love how you live. I envy you both, I grew up in the suburbs of California and when I was small there was nothing but dairy farms and ranch homes all around us, I miss the days when we could just explore the hills and stay out till it started getting dark, very much has changed there was a chicken ranch and we could go up the street and buy fresh eggs everyone had fruit trees and the neighbors would trade peaches for plums or apricots ect... my dad had a small garden in our back yard and he grew corn, squash, tomatoes, and even though there wasn't much money my mom knew how to keep up full with her homemade cooking didn't realize that my parents budget was limited until my mom went to work when I entered the 6th grade, and that is when my older sister and I had to start helping with the chores because my mom went to work night shift and my dad worked days just so there was always an adult home with 7 kids, I miss those days. Thank You
We visited War Eagle Mill back in the spring of 1985--loved it. During the Covid lockdown, I ordered some good rye flour from them. I have their cookbook that I bought on our trip back in 1985--good recipes.
I have several family members from my dads side of the family that lives in Ozark, Franklin County Arkansas, with others living in nearby towns like Mulberry and Alma, etc. it’s really beautiful there and far too long since I’ve been able to visit!
Such pretty country! I too have to restrain myself around cookbooks. My husband reminds me every time I am near them, " You do NOT need another cookbook"! I would love to take a long ride to Arkansas, but not in the cards right now. I just love your channel! Thank you for sharing your lives with us!
I enjoyed watching all the beautiful items in the shop, the driving was beautiful... thank you for sharing and letting your viewers to come a long in your trip. Glad to see your health getting better 🤗💕
Thank y'all so much for taking me along. To be able to see a bit of the beauty of your State without leaving the comfort of my home in SC was so nice!!
Love going places like that. My husband's family had a mill in Cookeville Tennessee. Cummins Mill which is now part of a state park. Cummins Falls with what's left of homestead and mill. We loved it. History
Arkansas isn’t to far from where we are living now so I keep thinking a trip over there would be beautiful. It reminds me of our homeland in Maine and NH. A beautiful ride and thanks for taking us along. I would love to walk through the store and walk along the shoreline of the creek. Looks like a River to me! Ha! We all need these times to just get away from home and the same old same old every day routine.
So very nice of you and Mr Brown to bring us along on your trip. It was almost like being there! Much love and appreciation for the time you take to share with us. I love your wind chimes!
We spent most of my childhood vacations at Norfork Lake. It surely was great to see that land again. The roads are much improved. My hubby and I spent our honeymoon in a little cabin on the White River. Thanks for letting me see an important part of my childhood. We never went to see the mill before. My dad went to fish PERIOD! You know my favorite part of the lake? That lake was spring fed and that water was soooooo cold and just as clear as could be. Oh, and my dad built a pontoon boat from bits and pieces that was not fancy like the beautiful commercial ones. Ours was a floating gypsy camp. We would pile our cots and blankets and a grill and a ice chest plus folding chairs. We would tie up in our favorite cove , and spend the nights in that old cove, wake up first thing in the morning. We would jump into that ice cold water and try to avoid those HUGE carp that were about the size of submarines!!
Love that mill store. I buy those handmade lavender soaps and tuck them im my winter sweaters and closet to keep moths and any spiders settling in there. They last a couple years before using in the soap dish. Evergreen is another comfort in the soak drawer and the foyer closet. Real pretty place there. Very fortunate, thanks for sharing.
Thank you for taking us on your little road trip with you guys it's such a beautiful country used to go a lot when I was a kid my dad's grandmother and granddad uncles and aunts lived in Arkansas they've all gone now for some time but I would love to take a trip back. My dad was born and raised in a little town called Oden, Arkansas so many good memories there I so remember going across the old wood bridges and they would squeak and the little store there my uncle's would take us down to get a soda and would set out on the old wood front porch and drink it at the store. It definitely is a beautiful country.
Mrs Lori and Mr Brown , so thankful you had a wonderful trip ! Good food, beautiful scenery, and memories to last a lifetime ❤ thanks for sharing the drive and war eagle mill ! I kinda squeeled aloud when you mentioned you came to and thru our hometown of Harrison !
My parents were married in Harrison and we took them on a similar road trip on their 50th anniversary, picnicked on the banks of the Buffalo River - just enjoying the beautiful Ozarks! Love it there - glad you had a good adventure! ❣
I love the “feeling” of going home. The beauty, the simplicity, the basics of living a good life becomes real again. Love visiting y’all. God bless you and yours.
I live in the desert of southwest Arizona, so seeing GREEN, TREES, WATER, BLUE WATER, and rolling hills is like seeing Heaven. I love traveling the back roads of our beautiful country, but due to health, worn out vehicle, and finances, I can no longer go anywhere. You taking us along on this trip has been a soul lifting experience for me. Thank you so much for sharing your "drive around" and your beautiful state. I love the little store you visited and especially all the items made by local craftsmen. I love to support local artists, craftsmen, and businesses. I wish I had to money and storage space to get a bunch of their items. Thank you again for sharing your
That mortar and pestle looks like agate. So beautiful! I love the wind chimes too. So pretty. Loved all your goodies. You needed to get away after not feeling good.
We live South of War Eagle Mills 2-3 hrs depending on the route you take. We also love visiting Eureka Springs the homes and businesses that exist in and on the mountains are something to see. We love living in the Ozarks we fell in love the first time we drove through them. I have family in the North/East flatlands (rice country) but I prefer the mountains myself. Couldn't pay me to leave. Driving through mountains is the only place where it can look completely different Driving to and from anywhere the scenery changes with every turn, and fall the leaves changing is something to see!
That looked like a nice little getaway. That's what I'm wanting to do once I get my back surgery over with. I haven't been able to do anything like that for over a year. I really miss it.
My husband's grandparents split their lives between Wyoming and Arkansas--a few years here , a few years there. (My grandparents did the same--between Tennessee and /Wyoming.) My husband and his brothers and sisters played in War Eagle Creek every other year when they went there on vacation. Imagine my surprise and delight when I found a bag of pancake/biscuit mix for sale at a Farmer's Market in Fort Collins CO.😄
I especially like the mortar and pestle & lovely wind chimes. It was such a great treat to see all the beautiful country & all it has to offer. The mill is something I've always dreamed of seeing. I feel like I was right there with you. Thanks for letting me tag along ❤️☺️
Thank you both for taking us along that drive. It was so beautiful and peaceful to watch by the water, love places like that. The old mill was cool to see and the store had a lot of nice things. I'll have to watch again. 🤗❤
Thank you so much for taking us along. Miss Lori so glad you are feeling better. What beautiful country you live in. I love grist mills and covered bridges. Mrs.Steve
Hey Y'all, I wanted to let you guys know how much I enjoy watching your show I stumbled across your channel approximately three or four days ago and have been watching everyone of your videos daily. You cook so much like my auntie Helen, and my own mom which was her sister. They are both gone now but I have to tell you I love everything about your channel You are a breath of fresh air I love the country in you I can see it because I came from a homestead was raised on good wonderful food until I left there I moved to the city when was 19. But I am still a country girl at heart thank you so much for making all my old memories come back I watch you every single day God bless you and Mr Brown ❤️
No, thank you Lori for sharing ❣️ I can't tell you how much I love your channel especially with the world going through what is going through You can't stop it All we can do is pray and get what enjoyment we can out of life and that's why I tell you I love your channel keep up the good work!
Aww, Ms. Lori, that is beautiful water. Yes, it is so beautiful there, your dinner looks good Lori, hugs n love you both, Many blessings to you both. Our leaves are starting to turn here in Eastern Kentucky .
Thanks for a lovely drive-about! It was so nice to accompany you on this trip. I don't 'get-about' very often, and this was wonderful! You two are the very Bomb Diggety as my grandees would say! Also finally saw those potbelly mugs I've been pining for because they keep your brew hotter for longer! All thanks! Y'all give such joy! 😘😘
War Eagle area is beautiful .Others ladies & myself would visit the area every Oct. for unique crafts. You had to arrive at the mill by 6:30 for biscuits & gravy.
War Eagle Mill looks like a wonderful place to visit and shop. It seems very peaceful to just chill out for a time. I’m glad you and Mr. Brown had a great time. I loved the beautiful scenery and War Eagle creek. Love the beautiful big trees throughout the area. Thank you for a great video.
I really enjoyed your video of the mill&all the hills .IT WAS beautiful. It reminded me of the hills of WV. THE BLUE water was really nice &seeing all the thi gs in the shop.God Blessyou both.
Thank you for sharing your trip, I’ve never been to Arkansas beautiful landscapes. I especially love that little pestle and mortar. Also love your video makes me feel like we’re friends. Take care and God bless you both.
I didn’t realize you were so very close to us. We are in the Ozark Highlands of Mtn. View, AR. I also work at the school. I’m the elementary music teacher. We love the Ozarks and our family band enjoys promoting the Ozark music when we go to festivals all over the US. We have never been anywhere more beautiful than home. ❤️
Beautiful country. I need to make a trip to Arkansas. One of the few states I haven't been to yet, so it is definitely on my list. I love old buildings and grist mills and beautiful scenery. The little shop was adorable. I thought of lots of Christmas gifts I could buy. The pottery bowl you called a colander, I have something similar and we call it a berry bowl. You can wash your fruit and let it drain, or you can just store your fruit in it. It's very pretty on the counter. I like mortar and pestles also. I have a small one that I used to grind my sons medicine in when he was younger and couldn't swallow the pills. Thanks for sharing your day with us.
Thank you two for taking me along. The Mill's store and what's in it was my thing, but that's only after "millin around" outside...LOL 💋 ?Have you ever shown the secrets to making grits the way you serve them too??? (Please)
I love this video it reminds me of all the many times we used to just load up in the car and ride and ride and ride and sometimes like y'all even spend the night. I live in Covington Tennessee right now but for many years I lived in Heber springs Arkansas and I truly loved it it's like you said the mountains are beautiful and greers ferry lake and Collins Creek and Sugarloaf mountain. And the people there are just wonderful it seems like that's a theme throughout Arkansas. I have never been to war eagle Mills I might have to check that out someday thank you so much for thinking of us and spending time with us on the video. It look like so much fun.
Miss Lorie those little June apples are so good. Myself and my cousin use to get run out of grandma’s orchard every time we went to see her. There’s another name for them, which i don’t know. They come in,in June so I guess that’s why we called them June apples. That was in Tn. So looks like they were popular in all states. I use to love to go on little day trips. They are so relaxing. I am glad you and Mr Brown got to go. Praying both of you are well , God bless and take care.
I always enjoy every video you do but my favorite ones are the ones with you and Mr Brown together like this one or just working around your homestead. My very favorite one was when you made breakfast outdoors over an open fire and then you two just reminisced and told stories of your younger days. I have rewatched that one a few times, I felt like I was sitting with you around that fire sharing a cup of Mr Browns coffee and just visiting. You have such a nice setting for your home. Sorry for rambling on but I just enjoy your videos so much 💕
I have family in Fayetteville and used to go every October for the NWA Arts and Craft shows in the area. War Eagle was always one of my favorite ones. I have never seen it so deserted and calm LOL That little 2-lane road would be bumper to bumper traffic. And if I was lucky, the leaves would be turning, and the scenery was breathtaking! It's been years since I've been, but still have fond memories of going to Bentonville, Eureka Springs, Springdale and all the other towns along the way. Thanks for taking us along on your trip.
Thankyou for taking us along Ms Lori and Mr. Brown!!! That is some BEAUTIFUL SCENERY there. I LOVE to go look in the shops (window shopping, they used to call it). Thank the Good Lord you are home Safe and Sound. I’m gonna Have to try those beans 😋
I'm 63 years old. I remember taking Sunday rides in the country. We would stop and get a candy bar and a cold drink. There were five of us kids and we had so much fun. I grew up in North Carolina and still live there. Loved those rides on the Blue Ridge parkway and going to the beach. So many memories.
Thank you for taking us along on your excursion! I love the little mortar and pestle! We can't have enough of those can we? I also have several! Things like that are souvenirs as well as being utilitarian so that is the best of both worlds! Next time you take an excursion over that way when you get to Harrison go south on Hwy 65 and check out St Joe. I am not sure if Ferguson's is still there but in the mid 1970's they were famous there. We had 12 acres on the road that goes down the hill to the Buffalo River beside Ferguson's. When I lived there my kids were all young and went to the school in St Joe, my neighbor worked at Ferguson's in the kitchen, she made the best biscuits and gravy I ever ate in my life. My husband worked there in the smokehouse, they cured out meat to sell. I loved going up there and eating in the café and looking around at everything they had for sale. We used to get a lot of that meat when it got old and moldy they would give it to us because my husband worked there. We just washed off the mold with vinegar; it was so good, I can still taste it when I think about it, Even the dried out parts made great meat for in the beans and soup dishes. My kids are grown and my husband is gone to heaven (I hope) but I have still enjoy the memories and hope one day I can go back there and enjoy camping in that area to see if anything still looks familiar. I would hope it is still beautiful and peaceful like it was when we lived there.
So glad you're feeling better I love the walk and drive to the mill.what a beautiful tour guide you are Mrs Brown,i felt like I,was there with you and Mr Brown.Thank you sharing Arkansas
What you missed Snowball, Arkansas. Just a Spot on the map. Enjoyed your travels. Thanks for the ride. Beautiful War Eagle Mill and gift shop. Nice scenery.
Thanks for taking us along. Nothing better than a little get away and getting out in nature. You said that Danny looks for animal tracks near a creek or river. My husband looks for birds. We keep binoculars in the car and he puts them around his neck the minute we pull near water or woods.
My wife and I stopped at War Eagle Mill last summer. It had been thirty years since I had been there, but nothing seems to change up there. Thank you for this video.

I've been up around there several times. It is beautiful! I've lived in the Ozarks 22 years. I love it

The movie, “ Where the Crawdads Sing” is fantastic in showing how a young person can survive on their own in the woods!

I’m so glad y’all enjoyed your drive around. 💜 We live just a few miles from War Eagle. The craft fair they hold each year is so fun!
I'm from Huntsville.
I live close to the mill...they passed my home
My wife and I went there twenty years or so had a great time we love traveling the Ozarks of Missouri and Arkansas a lot to do and see.
What a beautiful area you visited. I just love seeing historic areas and learning the history. I do agree with you MS Lori.. I can just sit out in the lawn chair and watch and love nature. Blessings to you both!!

History
What a beautiful place in Arkansas. The meals you ate looked delicious. Thank you for taking us with you. I loved it! God bless you both.
Y’all have the most beautiful lakes in Arkansas ❣️ We have thought seriously of moving to Mountain Home . We ♥️ it there !!
I would purchase so many items in that store. From the Goat Milk soaps to the bags of Yellow Grits. Thanks for taking us along 🌼🌼
Thank you again for sharing your
Thank you so very much for this beautiful video and your prayers, Jackie
Hey, glad you got to the Mill. You were 5 minutes from our home by War Eagle! So glad you had a nice holiday!
I just love this. More and more I’m not able to do these fun things, but I can live vicariously through your trip. Thank you.
My husband and I used to do road trips but sadly no more as he is deceased. Made me a little nostalgic.
One of our trips was to a mill like this one.
Mrs.Steve
Thank you so much for taking us all somewhere today; thank you

It was so nice to accompany you on this trip. I don't 'get-about' very often, and this was wonderful! You two are the very
Bomb Diggety as my grandees would say!

I just loved seeing y’all in this area. I don’t know where y’all are located but God made us from the same cloth for sure.

Love Love it and thank you for sharing We enjoyed this video and God Bless you and your family ❣️
Thank you for taking me along I just love visiting you both....Have a wonderful day HUGS
Thank you two for taking me along. The Mill's store and what's in it was my thing, but that's only after "millin around" outside...LOL 💋 ?Have you ever shown the secrets to making grits the way you serve them too??? (Please)
😊 Glad you're taking time to relax. Thank you for taking us with you. Hugs. 💓 We have a beautiful country. Every state contains its own treasures.
Spent a week RVing around AR this summer. Beautiful lakes but oh so hot.
Sorry for rambling on but I just enjoy your videos so much 💕
I live in Alabama and the university of Alabama rival is Auburn University (my team) and their war cry is Warrrr Eagle 🦅
Thank you for taking us on your lovely journey. Many blessings and much love.
I grew up in Mountain Home and I enjoyed your video! Arkansas is such a beautiful state! I always enjoy your videos. Thank you for sharing!
I enjoyed our little round a out. The country was so beautiful. The shop was amazing. Thank you both. God Bless you both.
The water is so pretty! Enjoy your outing! Be Safe! 💕 Love you both!! 🙏🙏
We spent time at War Eagle Mill while we were in the area on vacation. We so enjoy the Ozarks.
Thanks for sharing Gods beautiful creations in Arkansas.
I love old things. That old pressure cooker was awesome. It looks similar to the newer American canners, I think they're called.
Yes please to fudge!!!Miss Lori you need fudge!!!!!! Its so beautiful the scenery Miss Lori.
Thank you for sharing , I will check that out
So glad you're feeling better
I love the walk and drive to the mill.what a beautiful tour guide you are Mrs Brown,i felt like I,was there with you and Mr Brown.Thank you sharing Arkansas
Enjoyed the trip. Saved me 16 hours of driving from PA to see it and still got the last of my tomatoes canned today. Thank you for taking us there!
Hi! Your profile picture is very cute! I Just decided to stop by and say hi. I hope my compliment is appreciated...
What you missed Snowball, Arkansas. Just a Spot on the map. Enjoyed your travels. Thanks for the ride. Beautiful War Eagle Mill and gift shop. Nice scenery.
I really enjoyed the drive about. I felt like I was there with you and Mr. Brown.
Thanks so much for sharing! 😊
