  • In this video, “Taisabaki Training Techniques”, I teach and demonstrate various kempo (kenpo / karate) taisabaki ashi sabaki training drills to help develop better footwork for martial arts.
This lesson is directly for the practitioners of the ancient Japanese koryu martial arts of the ninja and samurai, such as ninjutsu (ninpo) and bujutsu (budo).

So important to see this early to see what is coming and what is necessary. Move or get hit.

The footwork drills are so important I believe in fighting. I don’t think one can get enough training in proper footwork. Not just moving and bouncing around for no reason, but for a purpose within timing and distance. Footwork along with distance I believe helps with a persons reflex lag. Of course temperance and a natural persons rhythm changes from person to person. I do feel positioning is everything. If a person cannot get into the dominant position to fire a shot or set a shot up it results into complete pain tolerance because like most street fighters they stay planted because of being unskilled in footwork which throws strategy completely out the window. A person can have the fastest most perfect strikes but if they cannot get into position to fire them it’s useless. I love the footwork and drills Sensei! Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for the great video, I got a little lost about halfway through but mostly because I don't understand the Japanese words yet, so this is one of those video's that I'll have to watch several times. I really like the way you seem to move off the center line moving in and away from the strike which makes a lot of sense. I had thought that Kempo was a Chinese art, but I may be wrong on that, I'll have to do a google search to see what it has to say about Kempo. I always seem to learn alot when watching your videos so thank you for sharing your vast knowledge.

Not sure what you mean, but I can assure you that learning the terminology is not as bad as you would think. If you are in Kansas City and want to learn authentic ninjutsu and classical samurai bujutsu, check out our website at: www.BudoRyuNinjutsu.com
