@@kimberleyjane2338 boy I'm not sure about that. There is an Asian themed restaurant in Chicago called Hot woks Cool sushi and it used to feature a Maki roll call the Obama mama. Made this Meatloaf and it's by far the best meatloaf my family and I have ever had! Labor intensive if you are prepping within hours however if you prep a day prior or morning this is a breeze to make. Prep, prep, prep! Oh by the way, I yielded two, so I was able to to put the other in the freezer and simply lay the bacon when I am ready to cook the mix. I love cooking again! Thank you Chef.
Never knew The Left Bank was your restaurant. Was there with my late wife a few times and remember it was fabulous. Love your channel and your videos because of their authenticity.
I made this tonight. It was very good. Just a few notes to myself. 425 degrees for 90 minutes was too long. When I checked it at 75 minutes it was already 178 degrees internal temp. Smoking this meatloaf would be a great addition. There was plenty of meat mixture left over for probably a second loaf. Just use two pounds of ground beef, a full pound of veal, a full pound of pork sausage. Then add a bit more carrots, onyons etc. Some swiss cheese lumped in the middle might be good too. If I could post a picture here, I would...mine came out looking exactly like Chef Pierre's.
I'm from the UK and only came across this channel a week or so ago - this guy is priceless - I cannot stop watching. Just great at demystifying everything.........

I hope this channel grows a lot, the positive energy of this gentlemen is just admirable and very inspiring. This is the type of guy that gets ppl into cooking.
I’ve only attempted 1 bacon wrapped meatloaf (out of many that I’ve made) and I cooked it too long. I didn’t glaze it, and the bacon was very “crispy” (my wife’s way of saying I burnt it), so I never tried it again. YOU give me the confidence to try again Chef. Thank you for all you do.
I don't think I've ever had meatloaf in my life! For sure never at home. My mother never made any sort of casseroles either. I was born in 1940, a year before the US entered the war, & we ate very simply-veggies from the garden, fruit from the trees in our 3-acre yard, eggs (& sometimes meat) from our chickens. Meat was chops & roasts from the butcher. We never ate out, & I first ate out when I went off to college. But I still never ate meatloaf; the very name put me off. The title of Chef Jean-Pierre's video turned me off, but my curiosity got the best of me. The look of it as he (triumphantly, lovingly, proudly) cut it turned me off; it looks like the "maouche" of my adoptive Ardèche in France, which I do not like, though the ingredients are completely different. BUT, I'm still game, I may adapt the recipe for one & finally try meatloaf in 2021, at age 81! Thanks to you, Chef Jean-Pierre! Meilleurs Voeux, santé, Bonne Année!
Ya can't can't help but love this guy! He's like your crazy brother who loves to cook. "How do you lika dis/how do you lika doe's turkeys?" This is going to be my favorite channel.
I couldn't cook to save my life until I met my Grand Mother-in-law. Her Italian hands were those of an orchestra conductor in a kitchen with all its condiments. She made cooking fun. Just as you do Chef Jean-Pierre. Thank you.
Our guests just left and I gave them a sample of the meatloaf and I recorded them telling me how delicious it was. I mentioned that it was your recipe. I loved it!. Thank you so much. You are the best!.
It is 2022. We sit at the feet of the master. What a happy time to be alive. Thank you for the love you have extended to the people who will eat, and to US who learn.
Made two of these a couple weeks ago. I sliced and froze one and we devoured the other. Simply delicious. I made a mushroom sauce to accompany it which was great but this meatloaf shines on its own. Thanks chef. This is now in my repertoire. DaveL
@Chef Jean-Pierre I absolutely love the way you teach! I teach a technical skill every day to students. The way you regularly reinforce techniques is extremely important and helps the learner remember the lesson! The skill I teach is drastically different from cooking but the ability to teach is an art my friend and you have it! Not that you need someone to validate your skill but I wanted to recognize your talent. Not only your skill in the culinary arts but your talent for teaching. Not everyone can teach but you can sir! Best wishes to you!

I had so much FUN making this meatloaf!!!!! I was surprised how delicious this smelled raw! In the oven while cooking…indescribable! Can’t wait to taste it in 30 min with green bean casserole and mashed potatoes and the gravy? Using the dripping from the pan! Thank you, Chef!
Just made it for the family. The recipe was able to make two. Absolutely amazing. I made au poivre sauce with capers as a sub for the pepper corn. New potatoes from the garden and fresh peas from the garden. My wife and all three kids ate so much we skipped dessert. Thank you!

I love listening and watching this Chef. Besides having a great personality he doesn't try to act like cooking is something that everybody can't do. It's not rocket science... I love it! I also love that he takes an American classic and he isn't afraid to do it because of it's roots of being an easy American classic, and it seems like it's one of his favorites to make!!! God Bless Chef Jean-Pierre
I made this one with meat that was ground for me at my butchers. All pure fresh meat and no additives. Then add mashed potatoes, carrots and mashed turnip. A mushroom gravy. Crusty bread. It was to die for. Thanks, chef. It is an absolute winner.
Finally, someone confirms my suspicion regarding over mixing ground meat! I always found that weird, obviously if you don't mix it enough, the meat won't be seasoned properly. Thank you, Chef! You are one in a million!
..."and as you can see, everything is carefully measured" - I loved that :) Thank you Chef, and I got to confess I will certainly look at the humble meat loaf differently from now on...because this looks amaizing! :)
This recipe reminds me of the meatloaf my grandma used to make. And kudos to you, that you always speak out to the "youtube-police" and tell them what they are: ridiculous :D Always makes me smile. Wish you a happy new year!

Oh. My. God. The BEST meatloaf I have ever made or eaten! My family and I snarfed this down like we hadn't eaten for a week. The next day leftover was amazing on brioche buns as a sandwich, too. 10 out of 10 recipe! Do yourself a favor and throw away all the other meatloaf recipes in your file and replace it with this. You'll thank me later.
I didn't think it was possible that someone else could be so excited about meat loaf - this looks like the masterpiece of all meatloaf! I can't wait to make it! Thank you Chef!!!
@@petirist9945 he said "3 or 4 eggs" so I used 4 and it came out nice. I'm not sure it would get messed up with 3 eggs, since it's (in my opinion) just acting as a binder and more protein/flavor. I think with most main ingredients you don't need to be too exact - it's more about blending the flavors and good quality ingredients as the chef says. Hope this helps, and happy cooking!
"And you notice, everything is carefully measured.." 😅 I love your approach, that us how my mother cooked and I adopted that as well, it's intuition and finesse.❤
"Not anyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere." ~Ego I am making a few of these recipes. I've always wanted to become a chef, after seeing how much appreciation they would elicit, and how people were happy with their meals. I realized that my family enjoys what I cook, so in my head, I did become a chef because I get recognition from my family. Thank you, chef, for sharing your knowledge.
Just discovered Chef Jean-Pierre with this amazing meatloaf - what a great persona!!! Making it tomorrow and I’ll have that voice in my head while doing so - pack it in!
Chef, I made this last night (ground my own meat too!) with mashed potatoes and your mushroom sauce and it was AMAZING! I just love your show and love you! Thanks for making cooking fun and delicious!
Made this last week for my son and three grandsons and we all declared this is best meatloaf we have ever had!!!! Prepared it the day before (shredded the carrot instead of cubing it) and left it in the loaf pan in the fridge overnight. Had to wrap the inverted pan with hot washcloth to get the loaf out of the pan onto the cooking sheet. Then painted it with the glaze and cooked. DELICIOUS.
Yeah he's clearly a real chef and a cooking artist. There's way too many hacks on TH-cam doing all sorts of crazy things that no one was in a culinary skills or basic cooking skills would ever do in their entire life
as a german who just discovered this (because it kept coming up in my recommendations over and over again), i have to say: if alfred biolek had a youtube-cooking-channel (hope he does not, i did not check XD ), it would be somewhat along chef jean-pierre. i came to see what the meatloaf was about, i stayed to hear a french doing his cooking-channel in english saying "worchestershire-sauce" with an accent, but correctly; keep up the good work, you made a fan!
Chef, I love cooking with my kids and today while making this meatloaf, my youngest son was helping and said, with a French accent "Measure carefully!" It just made my day! It's one thing for you to inspire an adult to do this, but when a kid is doing it, you know you have that "je ne sais quoi". He imitated your voice as we put the meat into the pan, all those little "oh ya baby" and "pack it in friends". Your love of cooking not only makes for good food, but for good times in the kitchen with family. Food does bring us together!
I love this man. Watching him from my own cooking start. I think I fall in love with cooking with you sir, and I just want to say, Thank you for existing. I didn't have a father figure in my life, but if I could ever choose one, you would probably be mine choice.

don't forget years of experience to help tell you if you have the right amount of spices or not.
This is the first time I've watched a video by chef Jean-Pierre, and I will tell you, when he put that salt and pepper on, so carefully measured, my first reaction was,... I like this guy! He's my kinda cook.👨🍳👌👍
Chef, I cannot describe to you the satisfaction I felt when I lifted the pans to reveal two perfectly bacon-wrapped loafs ready to be glazed and baked. One for me and one for my beautiful neighbor. I can understand why people lined up for this back in the day. Cheers to you, sir!
That is amazing to hear! You deserve all the satisfaction! 👍🙂
This guy is that really cool uncle everyone wish they had.
I absolutely love this guy! He makes mistakes, but doesn't sweat it
Ok, I've been searching for and watching countless food presentation shows, none of which equal the talents and wholesome quality Jean-Pierre provides his audience. No BS in his kitchen, every minute is worth your time... Thank you, Sir.
Thank you very much Ker! 😍
Never imagined I would find a meatloaf video exciting.
When he's putting on the rubber gloves "I hate when my doctor does that" is priceless.
To enjoy feeding people with Masterpieces is a HEAVENLY GIFT you ROCK CHEF, Pierre
👍🏻
I really like the way that DT supporters in Biden supporters can get together and vote for meatloaf with bacon all over it. At least there's something we can agree on
@@jmdenison Because food has nothing to do with politics, unlike some guests we would like to share with. lol ♥️🇨🇦
@@kimberleyjane2338 boy I'm not sure about that. There is an Asian themed restaurant in Chicago called Hot woks Cool sushi and it used to feature a Maki roll call the Obama mama. It was actually pretty good. They didn't do anything while Mr Orange was in office but I think they have something for Biden that was similar. It comes with little American flags
@@jmdenison Hahaha. I guess you are right in that way. I have never seen restos do that in Canada. I meant food itself is not political. It is cultural and should bring people together to share and love, regardless their views. ♥️🇨🇦
WOW! Nice comment again Kevin!!! Smoking would indeed be a great addition! Two dessert for you!😍😍😍
I have to agree ! I feel guilty when I use the real thing. This guy is great.
@@ChefJeanPierre
425 degrees for 90 minutes is way to long....I baked it at 425 for 66 minutes....got 175 internal temp.
"... like you would just brush things..." Absolutely delightful. The BEST cooking channel. My favorite. We love you Chef Jean. 🙂
I followed this recipe exactly including grinding my own meat and its the best meatloaf I've ever had in my life. This man knows what he's doing.
I love how outgoing and friendly Chef Jean-Pierre is. He loves life, he loves food, and he makes you love it too. You just can't help but enjoy.
Thank you 🙏 ❤️
I'm from the UK and only came across this channel a week or so ago - this guy is priceless - I cannot stop watching. Just great at demystifying everything.........
Aside from obviously being a great chef and educator, I come here for the onyo! hope you have a great 2021. Onyo 4 eva!!
lol
He tips it out of the mould to bake it! Why did I not know this before? Amazing! My life just changed.
I am a Chef for more than 30 years, but I love to watch your channel when I want to make some good western food. You are not only very talented and experienced chef , but also have a good sense of humor!
I love it, my friend!
He's the high energy Bob Ross or Steve Irwin of cooking. You gotta love him!
Cold Meatloaf Sandwiches! Yum!
What a legend. When you can make meatloaf sound this exciting you’ve mastered your craft.
What a great man. " I hate it when my doctor does that" Brilliant. First time I seen this guy. Must watch more of him.
I LOVE chef Jean-Pierre. "You can see everything are carefully measure!"...and then "Did i put the breadcrumb? Haa let me put some more." This men cook like its ment to be. No pretention but all skills.
I have always made my meatloaf like my mom, but I think I have found my new meatloaf. Love watching you. I have my grandmas crank meat grinder. Still gets the job done.
My husband just tried it! He was SHOCKED at how wonderfully tasteful it is! He also said it was indescribable! This is truly a gourmet meatloaf!
“Do whatever you want... it’s your stomach!” Love it! My new line in the kitchen.. thanks!
I click the 👍before i watch. You're a wonderful chef ❤️❤️❤️
Just made it for the family. The recipe was able to make two. Absolutely amazing. I made au poivre sauce with capers as a sub for the pepper corn. New potatoes from the garden and fresh peas from the garden. My wife and all three kids ate so much we skipped dessert. Thank you!
So glad you like the Jeff thanks for sharing and thank you for watching the channel😊
I put capers in my povoire sauce too instead of green pepper corns. I love capers and they're tasty in just about everything
Not only wonderful food and cooking, but Jean-Pierre is the Cook-king!
I don’t care what grandma made it will never top this meatloaf.
I've seen a million meat loaf videos...but this one was off the charts. .I see meatloaf in a different light now. Amazing.
This guy is like a mad scientist of the kitchen! Very entertaining and so informative. I’m very fortunate to have found his videos. Definitely going to try his recipes. Thanks Chef!
Made it twice Best I've ever had .
Thanks chef .
You touched my heart dude, I hate meatloaf because people usually put raw onions into the mix. BUT I LOVE cooked onions.
Love the way he says"lok lok" "let me tell ya friends" "yogort" "onion"😊❤
OH my Goodness. I made this using 2 meats and what I could acquire today. It came out fabulous using my Oven Roaster. One fine day, I will make it exactly this way when I have all the ingredients. It was by far the best ever. YUMMy
Thank you Scott!!! 🧡
I used to love leftover meatloaf cold as a sandwich. So delicious.
"You tube police" you make me laugh
you know it is going to be smackin when the chef sounds like a Disney chef character, broooo I am in your debt now!!!
Like chef Skinner from ratatouille 😂
I love Chef Jean Pierre as he is REAL! He’s an excellent chef and teacher! I have learned so much and made many of his recipes including his meat loaf tonight! It looks like his so hopefully it tastes as awesome as his does!
Love you CJP!
🙏🙏🙏❤️
You make cooking fun...."the measurement is very precise"...lol I love this!
This guy makes cooking just seem like the absolute best thing to do :)
Oh. My.
You've convinced me..😋
What do you mean by “ leftovers “? That is a foreign concept in my family🤪
The man doesn't lie. This is a great meatloaf.
i so agree, i would not even call my previous meatloaves 'meatloaf ' after this. i only wish my mother was still alive to taste this.
I just made it. Can’t wait. It smells amazing.
This gentlemen is absolutely marvelous. My kind of chef.
"And you notice, everything is carefully measured.." 😅 I love your approach, that us how my mother cooked and I adopted that as well, it's intuition and finesse.❤
"Not anyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere." ~Ego
I am making a few of these recipes. I've always wanted to become a chef, after seeing how much appreciation they would elicit, and how people were happy with their meals. I worked in kitchens for a few years as a line cook before moving on to another career path. I realized that my family enjoys what I cook, so in my head, I did become a chef because I get recognition from my family. Thank you, chef, for sharing your knowledge.
That is what Cooking is all about!😊🙏
I am so stoned, and Chef JP has me cracking up so much. I love this guy's energy. Like, you can tell he really enjoys doing this.
You know what time it is. I get baked and watch him work too and he is so funny and has great stories.
Just discovered Chef Jean-Pierre with this amazing meatloaf - what a great persona!!! Making it tomorrow and I’ll have that voice in my head while doing so - pack it in!
This guy is hilarious.. no pretense, all natural. You get what you get.
Thanks
Thank you 🙏
Chef has energy, character and amazing cooking skills...all without the cursing and yelling associated with other chefs!
Chef, I made this last night (ground my own meat too!) with mashed potatoes and your mushroom sauce and it was AMAZING! I just love your show and love you! Thanks for making cooking fun and delicious!
Made this meatloaf as directed except I used pork and beef it was amazing!!!. My daughter said we should have this for thanksgiving 😃
DELICIOUS.
“I hate when my doctor does that.” Omg 🤣🤣🤣
(Edit) “How do you like those turkeys?” You’re killin’ me! 🤣
I literally was gonna quote the same line 🤣
and then immediately he says " there is no turkey in here" ...he kills me too!
I said the exact same thing = hilarious = "I hate when my dr does that"...I had to stop the vid. I love this guy. He REALLY needs his own show.
I can’t stop laughing!
My cooking skills have been upgraded to a whole new level after watching Chef’s videos!
Yeah he's clearly a real chef and a cooking artist. There's way too many hacks on TH-cam doing all sorts of crazy things that no one was in a culinary skills or basic cooking skills would ever do in their entire life
as a german who just discovered this (because it kept coming up in my recommendations over and over again), i have to say:
if alfred biolek had a youtube-cooking-channel (hope he does not, i did not check XD ), it would be somewhat along chef jean-pierre.
i came to see what the meatloaf was about, i stayed to hear a french doing his cooking-channel in english saying "worchestershire-sauce" with an accent, but correctly; keep up the good work, you made a fan!
Thank you very much 😊
