LEGENDARY KINGDOMS is richer than your typical CYOA. Fully fleshed out character sheet, stats, & gear, overland & city maps, dice pool of 6+ D6. FABLED LANDS is another gamebook series that’s more than a simple CYOA. 6 abilities, 6 classes, leveling up, codewords to track your choices, 2D6. DESTINY QUEST is a third series of gamebooks that’s much deeper than a simple CYOA. Also, these series are all more mature than what we remember from our childhood.
Awesome thanks for the recommendations! I just purchased book 4 of Destiny Quest by Michael J Ward. I want Legendary Kingdoms but it was $74 to ship the first two books to Australia. Ouch! Will have to think about it.
Thanks for showing it, I'll definitely buy it! I love everything in the Arkham universe and I think it'll be cool to use the same investigators as in the boardgames. Gamebooks: so far I've only tried "What lies beneath" (really good) and I bought but haven't started yet "The Sword of the Bastard Elf".
I have heard of What lies beneath from The Dungeon Dive seems good just worried about the dexterity tests for my own tastes. I don't know The Sword of the Bastard Elf I will go have a look. Thanks!
@@agentsolorunthroughs6010 No problem! Yeah I didn't love the dexterity tests either at the beginning but after a while it gets a bit easier! And a lot of times you can decide to skip it or do a strength test instead. I loved that it's not overly complicated as I'm a gamebook beginner. I've started The Sword of the Bastard Elf and the way it's written is sooo funny! And it's huge, it'll keep me occupied for a long time! But I'll still buy the Arkham gamebook soon
@@eledv4521 yes I’m an advanced board gamer but a beginner with gamebooks myself. Perhaps I should do a video about my beginner research into gamebooks.
“There are even mobile versions of the character sheets you can use on your phone, tablet or other device, without the need to print them out.” Where do I find the app for this on iPhone?
