    I need that outfit 😍
    Personally I love videos like this because it took me a long time to figure out rod actions and reel sizes. This cuts out some of the thinking..

    I've had a okuma Coronado now for 20 years. Solid reel. Another easy knot is the modified Albright

    Just a suggestion for this new series if I may capt. I love that you’re trying to help someone who may not know learn what type of setup to use for a certain species. In doing so I feel it would be beneficial to suggest a leader size and hook or possible lures for that species. Obviously that all varies based on how you are targeting them but I think a good general outline will help people learn what direction to go. You wouldn’t want someone putting this setup together and then using only 30lb leader at a bridge with a big bait(hopefully they know better) but you get what I mean.

    Perfect rod for boat fish especially around structure but don’t use it for buck tails, not nearly a long enough rod you won’t get the right action, love the reel tho, it’ll def work for anything snook wise

    • @Saltyscales
      @Saltyscales  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I've used that type of rod for years, doesn't impact the lure at all.

    • @fishing4life292
      @fishing4life292 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Saltyscales I agree that the lure might not get physically impacted, but the taller a rod the more I feel the bottom and that’s key. Not that you wouldn’t feel things with a 7 ft but I know if I used my heavier 7 ft boat style rods I would miss fish and snag a heck of a lot more, just personal preference I guess

    Jesus man that's terrible on recommending a over priced setup. Heck a Okuma CJ-10000 Cedros has a nice build a strong drag as well a lot lower in price then the Okuma Salina 6000 and also then you pick a PCH Custom Series Rod at a $214.99 over a Shimano Teramar TMSX80MB rod. Both good but the difference here is price. I strongly feel that a Shimano Teramar TMSX80MB a Okuma CJ-10000 Cedros would out preform the setup you recommend and save people money. I mean the drag alone on the Okuma CJ-10000 Cedros already out preforms the Okuma Salina 6000. And I will tell you with a Shimano Teramar TMSX80MB rod with the Okuma CJ-10000 Cedros using 65lb at the max line strength line you will likely tank a lot more fish and lose less tackle then fishing light were talking beginners were not taking to advanced anglers here that know how to work a fish on lite tackle.

    • @Saltyscales
      @Saltyscales  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That setup is far from overpriced lol. I have hundreds of fishing rods and I've used most. This is a great setup for the type of fishing I've described. We can sit here all day long and compare apples and oranges. 👍

    • @Saltyscales
      @Saltyscales  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FishingFloridaWater I think you are missing the point of the video, the topic wasn't what is the most affordable beginners setup for snook. It was "How to setup a larger snook outfit" I chose this setup because I appreciate the quality. I have broken many Teramars over the years. I have never broken a PCH and yes I am a licensed captain who makes his living fishing, selling fishing products and making fishing videos. 👍👍

      @CaptChrisCanning ปีที่แล้ว

      Cedros is an unbelievable reel! I am confused why you recommend the 10K, though? Gosh that is overkill for big snook! You cast around a bucktail with a 10k??

    • @FishingFloridaWater
      @FishingFloridaWater ปีที่แล้ว

      @Joshua Taylor Everything has its breaking point. Just because the rod hasn't broken yet doesn't mean just as many of them won't. But I think you're missing the point. The difference is I know what you and a lot of other TH-cam anglers do. This is one of the sad things about a lot of the big TH-camrs. But your fan base doesn't know any better it's like my buddy once said if you're not charging a lot for a service and you do it for free people will question why they should pick you over the guy who charges $600. I've seen this same stuff in astronomy when I was into that hobby. And it's okay if you don't get what I'm trying to say it's not a simple thing to explain in comments it's a thing that would be required for a public debate. Maybe one of these days if you're at the skyway pier fishing we can discuss why we feel differently about stuff you're a Fishing captain so I'm all up for a debate and hearing your side. By the way my wife has caught decent-sized fish using a Penn Battle III 2500 with 20lb braid and a 40lb mono leader we took from a Snook poacher at Snug Harbor by Fort Myers Beach.

      Idk but that does seem like a lot of gun for snook but where are we fishing? Sandy beaches, Rocks, Mangroves etc. I’d bet you have different setups for different situations.
